I’m someone who was really wanting the days to go later, but also someone who was REALLY sad they took hour half hours :( I think the way to get the best of both worlds is to let ppl customize their hours! Like choose when your day starts and ends

I really wish EC would add more notes pages for each month so I could have my monthly budget and paycheck plans in this planner. I wish I could have my budget and life all in one planner!

This is one of the reasons why I switched to the MAMBI Happy Planner. Totally customisable with add-on budget / household / Christmas extension packs, stickers... and pretty much anything else you could want. I can also bullet journal in my Happy Planner by adding dot grid paper as I need it. My whole life is in the Planner and it works so well for me. The Happy Planner is much more affordable in comparison to EC and there are more options for planner layouts etc. I used to be EC all the way but it’s so expensive (especially as I live in the UK), and I don’t think EC is standout any more with so much competition. Their quality control is shocking too. Each to their own, but after seeing this EC release my mind is made up that I won’t buy from the company again.

I'm actually trying this out for the first time and have been putting sticky notes trying to see how to set it up. I don't have a hectic schedule to where I need the extra pages for daily stuff but so far I think I have it down to where it would work for me at least.

My budget is going on the blank space in the monthly "dashboard" spread and my sinking funds are going in the dot grid space on the other side. Just an idea!

I don't use an hourly, but watched every bit of this video. I can definitely see how people are a little thrown off by the 1/2 hours taken out. I can't wait to see how everyone makes it work. :)

I don't like the new layout 😭😭 I miss the half hrs and i use the colorful hourly but the neutral this year looks soooo much prettier, there sticker colors are also more prettier. I can't believe it but yes I am going neutral. Thanks for sharing Jen can't wait to see how you get creative with the new layout and get ideas from you.

This is the exact planner I will get, and I have to say I think this year’s design is the best one yet for me! I love the addition of the structured page at the beginning of the month, and love the coloured bar at the end of each day. I didn’t need the extra long day until 10pm but taking the boxes down to hour chunks works great for me :) So excited to order now!

I really like Erin Condren, but I switched to Plum Paper last year because it was more customizable. I started considering switching back to Erin Condren with all the hype, but this review solidified my decision to stick with Plum Paper. They have a really nice hourly layout as well as many other layout options. I can also add extra note pages at the end of each month, which is where I set up my monthly budget. I really hope that EC will offer more customization options in the future.

Tricia Spence I switched to plum paper last year and love it. I wanted to try happy planner this year though and actually love it more than both of them which I was completely surprised. I am Not a fan of this new planner at all. I’m interested to see the neutral though.

I don’t use the hourly so I’m not sure about the half hours but I personally love the rounded edges and small notes section on every day. I also love how they give you a notes page and a structured page at the front and the big pocket in the back

I’m so glad you did this video...I’ve been waiting to see what’s new. (I think I’m gonna miss the half hours too) I think overall I’m giving the changes 👍🏻👍🏻 I really am looking forward to the new monthly dashboards.

I am a vertical planner so the half hour doesn't bother me. As a SPED teacher I am excited to see the monthly intro page because I am going to use it to plan out my monthly case load. The new pattern is so pretty. I would stick to the original colors too! Thanks EC

You’re the first I’ve seen to mention the folder pocket in the back. It’s such a small change compared to some of the other elements of the planner, but I’m so glad they “fixed” it. I don’t use an hourly but love seeing how everyone sets up and uses their planner differently. Thanks for your review! 💜

I really love the kaleidoscope pattern! I am definitely going to miss the half-hour partitions in the weekly. Adjusting may be as simple as just putting a sticker halfway through the hour slot, but ugh! From a time management perspective, it's a pain! So looking forward to using all the new stickers. Jacquelyn Brock Agree! I only use functional boxes & icons, but colorful markers may be the way I go now...especially if I need to modify all the boxes I currently own. This may help cut back on my future sticker purchases. We’ll see. 🤷‍♀️

This is amazing!! I just ordered my first EC Planner, and it is the one in this video, same kaleidoscope color theme, and hourly weekly layout. Your video has me even more excited to receive it in the mail, and I love that you compared some new features to your old planner. I like the new layout -- I have ordered a horizontal colorful. Having 2 big pockets is great. I like the detailed monthly pages, too. Can't wait to get mine.

Luckily at this point I use either vertical or horizonal daily layout, so the change from half hours to hours doesn't affect me, though I do feel bad for all of you mourning the loss! I really wish we could have the choice between gold or silver accent on the planny pouch. I love it, but I hate gold.

Love EC and I tailor it to my life with accessories. The pages I don’t have use for become place to put adhesive pockets for stickers, invites , etc. I like the monthly dashboard page

I need to see the vertical but I like a lot of the changes. The extra space at the beginning of the month is amazing, I was considering going bullet journal or uncoiling to add dot grid pages. I think stickers could help creat half hours by placing them mid box.

Thank you for your review! I am really in love with almost everything. Can't please everyone, but I actually think more people want 1/2 hour breakdown vs. later in the day. I feel like it would be really easy to use a sidebar post-it overlay or edit the hours to fit more in the day... Just me. What I am missing is the upper left corner box. I use that every week (priorities, morning routine, etc.). I'll need a sticker fix for that. As for the color scheme, even in the colorful I think it's subtle enough and feeds my minimal washi strip cravings.

Switching to plum paper, they have the half hours there and layout is highly customizable. They are also using the mohawk paper this year, so EC no longer attractive for me.

@@rsarahi14 I did actually end up ordering ppp, and even though the paper is from mohawk and thicker than before it was too "smooth" for me lol. I'm using the ECLP now along with the daily petite planner to break up my day since the half hours and no longer there. If you want me to send you my ppp for free (pay just shipping I guess) to use I don't mind because I'm sure it'll go to waste otherwise. It's not their hourly though it's their priority schedule one and goes from July till May 2020!

I love your EC reviews! You are always the first person I go to when new EC comes out!! I also would like more note pages for the month. I know that would get a bit thick. I do think they make up for it in the fact they got those little planners that you can stick in the folder part for budget, health and stuff like that.

I'll definitely be going with the vertical now that they've taken out the half hour lines. I have way too many classes and meetings that don't start on the hour. The color blocking at the end of the day also looks so awkward here! I love the monthly pages though, I'll probably just put one of the mini bookmarks on the actual calendar page and it won't be a problem. I have to say, the new design is really gorgeous.

Janessa Morelli I am in the same position and considering the vertical now just because it gives me more flexibility with the times.

I have some feelings about the tabs not opening to the month... I have both an eclp and a plum paper and I always have to glue pages together in my plums to make the tab open to the month and I hate to have to do that in a planner that’s a lot more expensive. Really torn this year! But gosh the design is beautiful!

I can't wait to see what you do with your hourly to get it the way you want. I'm buying the hourly due to the vertical not working in my life now that I went back to work. I have enjoyed my vertical for staying at home and volunteering.

Thanks for sharing! I’ve been Neutral Hourly for two years but may go back to colorful because I love the kaleidoscope design so much! I’m with you on the 30-minute increments. I work from 8:30-5:30, so I’ll miss having those times marked! I also noticed that the monthly small dot grids are just one vertical dot shy of fitting a sudoku puzzle which breaks my heart a little. Overall, love it! I usually wait until January to buy a new 12 month, but I might order this one when it launches.

I like that whole planner. College student graduating in December. I use hourly to make a color coded class schedule at the beginning of the planner.

Loved your interview with Cindy Guentert-Baldo on the podcast from last year! Thanks for sharing the hourly. I’m using an Orange Circle vertical right now along with a Bujo and powersheets. Not sure I need the hourly but loved seeing your review and everyone’s comments!

I'm so sad about the loss of the half hour slots. I will adjust but still very sad. Also I'm upset that the tabs don't correspond with the monthly layout. It's beautiful, sleek and delightful to look at. I'm eager to see if the appointment labels at the back fit the hour slot in the layout. Thanks for a great walk through.

It seems like I may be in the minority, but I LOVE the new monthly front dashboard and overview sections, the extended hours in the new layout, and the overall look and theme of the planner! It is rather amusing how different people's opinions are on the changes 😀

B. Ellen Lininger good observation. I think the issue is that when something is perfect, you don’t want it changed.

I also live in half hours as well. I just wish they did not give the five boxes at the bottom and stayed with the two and given more space above but it is the new planner and it is what it is.

I love the overall look of the planner. Like you, I’m so glad they added the little monthly calendar back to the weekly pages. I do think it’s weird that the tab isn’t actually on the monthly layout. I’m also disappointed that they removed the zipper pouch but have several so will just move mine from another planner. Thank you for your honest review. I use the colorful vertical so I’m off to find a review for any changes to that layout. 🤗

Hey Jen!! I LOVE the goals page that was added before the monthly calendar!! I’m not a fan of the the smaller hourly boxes or of the shaded boxes at the bottom. I love the colors and the design! And you’re correct, everyone will not be happy. That’s just business. I may have to switch back to the vertical layout. 🤭 Though overall, I love it!

They should do the half hour as an option for the hourly- like you could have half hour up until 7pm or have the later hours w/o the half hour... 🤔🤔🤔

Actually, I like the changes! I will miss the pouch as I don't have an old one to repurpose. Now I just need to see the binder so I can decide...

The marker colors seem to match the monthly colors pretty well.

The hexagon page is just like the Checkpoint Mission Boards in the Inkwell Press Planners. If you look it up, there are a bunch of videos on how to use them. The main difference is there are 12 instead of 10. And only 1 in the planner, instead of 1/month.

I love the new bookmark!

I’m really excited for the change on the bookmark... the other ones break so easily 🙄 but I HATE that the monthly tab doesn’t open up to the monthly!!!! Ugh!!!

I really wanted a planner that goes until 10pm, however instead of minimizing the space and taking away the half hour slots which I would have loved to have, I would have prefered to have different time options, for example one from 6am-7pm and one from 9am-10pm to fit different lifestyles. And instead if these weird boxes at the bottom they should have used that as space within the hours!

I am super excited about the new layout. I’m switching from vertical to hourly, so I’ve never used the half-hour layout. I can see where it would be an issue for some, but hopefully the sticker designers will come up with a creative option. I am wondering if all the current event stickers, boxes, etc will work in the new hourly? 🤔 I have mostly Krissyanne Designs right now. I love the new grey tabs on the neutral and that they’ve incorporated more color in the neutral. I was planning on getting the colorful hourly, but now I’m not so sure. Not a big fan of the sticker book because I do not like the metallic on everything. I do love the colorful boxes after each day and the new dashboard page before each month. Can’t wait for release day!!

As an hourly user, it hit me hard. I live for those half hour time slots. So, I still have my currently hourly that'll run until December, and I've purchased a petite daily planner to test out that system. Then come December, I'll have a better idea of what I want to do. I love the EC planners, I love the hourly, I just dunno that I can - or want - to adapt to that loss. I totally agree though, it's great that they listen to their customers! Great review, and enjoy Go Wild!

I love, love, love Erin Condren and have used it for years. However, I cannot handle not having the half hour segments. It totally messes with all the stickers I use for all my meeting planning, etc. Too bad we didn’t at least get an option on this 😕. Not sure what i’ll do, may have to change formats.

Amy Zimmerman I’m considering using vertical this year now but idk. I really wanted an hourly planner but I’m so upset they don’t have the half hours and the vertical may end up being better for me and I can just write in the times.

pamelam4 I use the vertical planner and love it! I purchased hourly stickers, that include half-hour segments from Etsy and it works great! Then you still have the notes section at the bottom of each day! It’s def doable, it may take some adjusting, but you could make it work! Bonus - there’s still room for other functional/fun stickers!

Any ideas on how to change the weekly pages to go from Sunday to Monday like the monthly view? Any stickers or labels that you've used.

OK! I’ve watched yours and Julie’s plan, I agree with you BOTH! I need that HALF HOUR so I’m bummed they removed it! Honestly, is it really that necessary to go to 9pm??? Me personally shut down after 8pm 😏. That’s my time to relax...I do like the grey tabs on the neutral however, I think it’s too plain for me. I’ve been an HOURLY gal since they introduced it and watching your videos. It fits my kids and our schedule. The past 2 years I’ve had black coil. SO...I think this year I’m going back to gold, hourly in colorful and kaleidoscope. I am disappointed they removed the half hour....I seriously hope they bring it back next year!! 🙏🏼. Looks beautiful, I also will miss the half hour slots. Not having the month tab flip directly to the month will force me to look at my dashboard, which I am hoping will encourage me to stay more on track. I will be searching for some stickers to make this work especially the Birthday box on the dash board just want that word hidden. I’m also not someone who colors so I always take a few pages out of another notebook and glue them on top of those. I give each child a page for their passwords, picture ID, book fair codes daily specials and conference notes. Still waiting for the day that they offer extra notes pages in this product, even just 10 of them.

I haven't decided if I like it or not. Something I noticed is the stickers are different in the colored layout from the neutral.

The kaleidoscope theme is gorgeous. But I am super torn about some of the changes this year and I can't decide if I want to order the new LP or wait for the next launch. I love the dashboard/goals pages, a lot. I love the productivity of the dashboards but find them too thick to keep on my coil, so this is a great idea for me. It really highlights the theme too. I just don't like the rounded boxes on the horizontal layout, I liked the crisp corners. And the mini monthly calendar changes do not make sense to me at all. I only need that on the monthly view pages. I mark upcoming dates on that and would never want to spend the time updating it every week. It also eats up a lot of space on that notes bar in the weekly spread. Not sure if these are deal breakers or not. Everything else is really, really lovely. Man, I wish I had a store nearby so I could hold it in my hand.

I’m super disappointed that they removed the half hour increments. And I’m bummed that they removed the big box on the upper left corner of the weekly pages. I can appreciate the extra structured pages, but I probably won’t use them because I use the monthly sidebar for birthdays, anniversaries, & monthly deadlines. I use the weekly sidebar for habit tracking and a long sticky note on a dashboard for weekly errands or errands with no real deadline so it’s easy for me to move week to week without having to re-write anything. I’m actually torn between ordering a new EC planner or maybe buying an EC undated planner. I’m a sticker hoarder and use stickers from past planners on my current planner. I love the kaleidoscope theme - best theme by far. I would suggest doing an 8x11 hourly planner with the half hour increments.

I really am going to miss the half hours! I may have to get the neutral abs colorful and recoil to make it more useable for me.

I really love the new monthly additions, but I will miss the half hours also! 😭 I don’t need my planner to go past 8. And i really don’t need the colored section at the bottom, or the preprinted color that goes with it. I also don’t think they need BOTH the monthly graphic and the mini calendar. That takes away so much note space I regularly use. I think they just should have put the mini calendar up at the top. All the added colors though have made me consider switching to neutral this year even though I typically love love love the color. 😔

I’ve used Heidi Swapp planners in the past and have really been debating over EC. I’m a principal and am in constant meeting and the note pages are crucial for me. There’s simply not enough pages for me. Are there more note pages that can be purchased and added to the EC binder?

Can anyone tell me difference between the life planner and deluxe monthly planner. I am new to this

I don’t mind the new layout. The only thing I strongly dislike is the monthly. I don’t like the sidebar or that the top has no design. I love the weekly and the additional pages! I really like the new pages before the months. But the monthly is really tripping me up! ❤️
