    I turned my 2011 Mustang over to my son and got a 2018 Super Crew XLT 2.7 with chrome package and 302A package with navigation. Yes Matt, parking definitely more challenging than the Mustang! But, did a 2200 mile trip and this thing is so comfortable. Most comfortable vehicle I've ever owned. FYI I did get 26 mpg on the highway and now get 21.5 in town. Thanks!

    Ive got the same, but with the 3.5l ecoboost, and no nav. Best vehicle ive ever owned. I dont mind having a more traditional radio rather than an infotainment system. I used to own a fully loaded 2016 fusion.... the infotainment system could be awful at times. The chrome on the 2018 xlts is actually nice. Its not too much like the lariats. I love the minor chrome trim on the interior. It looks so good on the vents and the stripes on the door. This is my 6th vehicle, dont see myself getting rid of it unless i find a 2018 xlt in the same color but with the 5.0.

    Not crazy about the new headlights, but now the lil 2.7 Ecoboost has more torque and a 10 soeed transmission. I laugh at some of the comments I see below about how bad they think these engine are. All I can say is go drive it, their quiet, smooth and very fast! Apparently a lot of folks are being impressed by the 2.7 because it’s now the F150’s best selling engine. Matt have no idea why yours did so bad on MPGs because I constantly get 20.4 in town, calculator checked and I cut the stupid stop start thing off. I’m starting to see Ecoboost engines at around 200,000 miles on them and they are running great, maybe not the engine for everyone, but so far I love mine!

    I'm a GM guy who happens to work at a Ford dealership. I've driven so many F-series trucks over the past year for extended periods of time - every light duty and super duty configuration - as well as several GM, Toyota, and Ram trucks, and I am seriously impressed with this F-150 and it's EcoBoost V6 engines, they are top notch. This 2.7L is very quick and to me feels better than the 5.3L V8 in the Silverados I drove. Also the 3.5L EcoBoost feels quicker than the 6.2L V8 in the Sierra Denali that I drove (although that V8 sounds MUCH better than the EcoBoost and the power delivery is more linear, which is why I generally prefer N/A or superchargers over turbos). The 5.0L in the F-150 is nice too, great power and sound. Despite everything though, if I was buying an F-150 my choice would be the 3.5L EcoBoost. The power you get from that engine is just bonkers and I love it. Still, I do like how the Silverado/Sierra drive better than the F-150. The GM trucks feel tighter and better planted, almost like unibodies; the F-150, despite feeling lighter thanks to the aluminum, still jiggles and bounces more than the GM trucks do. The Ford and GM trucks to me are leaps and bounds better than the Tundra and Ram, everything from engines to interiors to driving dynamics, though I haven't been behind the wheel of the newly redesigned Ram yet. Great review Matt, loved hearing your take on this!

    The F150 along with all the other expensive trucks have high-resale value, much better than any other segment. The used prices aren't much cheaper, that's why people buy them new with a lot of incentives on the hood. There is probably no other $60,000 vehicles on the road that hold resale better than this expensive trucks.

  • @OSTKCabal

    @OSTKCabal

    On top of the fact that trucks keep their value incredibly well, with very few exceptions, nobody would ever pay even remotely near MSRP for these things. Our local Ford dealer, for example, will gladly give you $8,000+ off up front with incentives and other discounts available on top of that.

    In 10 or 15 years when it comes to the used market these Ecoboosts are gonna be either good or bad. Not because the quality of engineering but many people that own trucks negate maintainince which will effect the Ecoboost in the long run. I imagine that it will require specific mantainnce over its lifetime that if looked over and ignored could cause more issues once its older.

    I’m a Ford guy through and through, but I personally prefer the look of the new Ram 1500, the side profile of the F-150 is starting to look a little dated, it’s a bit flat, square and basic. The front and interior are top notch, but the sides and rear needs to be updated. The new Ram just looks more modern and fresh, the side profile is beefy and chunky but also has nice smooth, fresh and flowing modern lines. Both trucks are awesome, I really like the front of the F-150, but the rest of it needs to be refreshed. I think at the current moment the Ram is a nicer looking complete package.

Now there are 200k trouble free ebs everywhere and a relatively small amount of complaints. I think they're stellar engines for reliability.

    It will get good mileage if you stay off boost. V8 mpg when working, but V6 mpg when cruising. You can get 26 mpg if you drive like a granny, but most people won't with all that power to play with.

    I have owned both a 2015 5.0 F150 and currently own a 2018 2.7 F150. The 2.7 is a much better engine for towing and frankly every situation. It develops all 400 lb/ft of torque at 1700 RPM. I found with my 5.0, it was constantly downshifting and revving up around 4500 RPM to maintain speed on highway while towing. It also develops 400 Lb/Ft of torque like the 2.7, but not until over 4,000 RPM. On the highway, my 2.7 loafs along at 1,700 RPM in 10th gear at 80mph. It accelerates quicker by a long shot over the 5.0, gets better gas mileage and operates at much lower RPM then the 5.0. Now with both port and direct injection, carbon build up won’t be an issue. It also has 25% less rotating parts then the V8. I was skeptical at first as well, but I’m definitely a believer now.

    Toofast For you I hope you're joking. First of all, it's the same generation, so no matter what you do, it's going to look similar, the second point, even for higher trim levels, they can't redesign the entire interior for a few trim models, no brand does that, because it would eat significantly into profits. They can change a few things, but not a ton.

    Ram has always made junk and used value nose dives like a airplane out of fuel. Just like for ones for sale. Best deal for a 4x4 Crew Cab is Ram. Why because their garbage. A friend of mine bought a brand new 12 miles Ram 4x4 Crew. I looked at it and told him his driveline was entirely covered with rust. In the shop more then his driveway. He kept it 6 months. Lost his arm on it but cut his loses before he lost more.
