Just to clarify, she refused to shake hands because in Islam males and females who are not family or husband/wife, can not touch each other, not even shake hands as it potentially gives a path way to intimacy.

I know many Muslim women wearing a hijab (often with tons of make up in their face), not shaking hands with men etc., that are fornicating around and don't even see the absurdity and contradictions of their actions ...still believing to be somehow morally superior to non - Muslim women - for merely wearing a hijab and other outwardly appearances... they can only impress other people with their "piety" or "godliness" displayed externally, but they surely can't impress God Almighty with acting like he wasn't even there, or couldn't see what's in their hearts and minds and what they are doing behind closed doors... If you, as a Muslim woman, are not willing and able, to live a sexually moral life ...then just be honest - to people AND God - and just politely shake the hands of men and don't wear a hijab, etc. This elderly woman surely lives a sexually moral life - with or without a hijab, or shaking hands with men.

To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and whatever is within them. And He is over all things competent. [Quran] 17:111 And say, "Praise to Allah, who has not taken a son and has had no partner in [His] dominion and has no [need of a] protector out of weakness; and glorify Him with [great] glorification." People with sincere heart will be given the right way to follow. People who used to mocked Islam and the Prophet many will end up being with Abu Lahab and Abu Jahl. Just look at Caliph Umar and Khalid Al-Walid. They're once the enemy of the Prophet PBUH. They were against the Prophet but they never mocked him, that's why they're given the guidance (tawfiq and Hidayah) to follow Islam.

I am is referred to God. I made my research and you can find in old testament often mentioned God referring to "I am". So even by their logic it means "Before Abraham was "God", which makes totally sense why this gramatic was used.
