Three helpful tips that I picked up:1. Use chalk on bar to make sure you lower bar to your chest in the same area every time. 2. Get back higher in the bench, eyes 2-3 inches behind bar then you would for a normal bench press. 3. Wider grip hand placement then normal bench press grip width. Thanks for this video.

The tip about the grip on the unrack is good. I played around with reverse but only volume work. You really have to get the bar to sit as low as possible, but not too low as the bar may pinch your hand. You also need to unrack the bar as vertically as possible as otherwise it will roll back against your thumbs.

Thank You I tried it today and loved it no shoulder issues and my lifts are just slightly lighter then my normal traditional grip. I will stick with reverse grip for a while and supplement with low incline dumbell presses.

I used to throw this in a lot in the early 2000s. It was still rare back then, maybe even new. I'm not sure. But, it was surprisingly a solid movement that I connected with very quickly. Sometimes a weird exercise isn't so weird when you try it. I remember it feeling almost like a dip and a pullover, combined with a press. Great explanation, Janice. I knew a lot about it, but it was never covered to this depth in M&F or anything else I came across back then. Thanks for the vid. I'll plan on insert this back into the program.

sammy1995 when a woman takes her physique too for once you start using anabolic steroids . I’m all for health , fitness , clean eating . But once you start playing with synthetic drugs you are not a ambassador for this fitness lifestyle and should be put with the freaks in the circus

@@Ravi-ut7kk the idea of any sportsman or woman being a role model or having any non sports expectations place upon them is crazy. She's a great lifter...whether performance enhancement was used or not....steroids have never made anyone go to the gym, train their asses off and follow their nutrition plan anymore than an expensive guitar or microphone suddenly makes you write songs or have talent. As for being an ambassador of anything fitness related...the guys and gals in crossfit are currently being held up as the be all and end all of fitness and the top competitors are about as "natural" as the top in any other sport. I'm so over people having to look a specific way....over 85% of the greatest singers and musicians of the past couldn't make it now...hell Arthea Franklin would have handed Whitney Houston, Beyonce and Shakira their asses at 7 am in the morning without warming up....who cares that she looked like she would be working the graveyard shift at a waffle house? Don't be so quick to pass judgement on the looks or lives of others.

It's not the same as pronated grip form. You don't need to arch your back doing reverse grip; in fact, it can make it more difficult. You lower it over the upper abdomen, straight up and down in a vertical line. Arching can't help with that. It's like a supinated punch when you do it correctly; you're driving from an abdominal position with rectus abdominis tight and flat, not a chest position with abdomen stretched. If you tried throwing a supinated punch with your back arched like that, you would fail to generate maximum force. It works the same on bench press.

@@batman-sr2px I mean, I hope your bench is going towards the ceiling, otherwise you're not getting it. That being said, I've been competing for 20+ years and have accumulated a lot of injuries over time. I used to bench with a bar path back over my face. After a severe pec tear and a destroyed labrum I now bench in a straight line as to limit shoulder rotation as much as possible.
