Reverse Bay Parking Manoeuvre Using the 90 Degree Method Plus Top Parking Tips 2020 Driving Test

Learn how to do Reverse Bay Parking using the 90 Degree Method.
In this short video we will show you how to do bay parking as simply as possible and also how to correct the parking if it goes wrong and not between the lines. This is one of the 4 practical driving test manoeuvres.
The aim of this Manoeuvre is to reverse between the lines safely using very slow car control and effective all-round observations. If you don’t get it in the lines don’t worry you are aloud to move it backwards and forwards to re adjust it into the bay. It’s a good idea if another car or a pedestrian comes towards you from anywhere to stop and work out If its safe to carry on. Don’t forget once you have worked out what they are doing to recheck everywhere else again before continuing.
This Bay Park Manoeuvre is normally done at the beginning or the end of the driving test at the test centre. If you don’t end up inside the lines of the bay it could be fail, so don’t forget to re adjust it if you realise.
If you have any questions about Bay Parking, please comment below and we will reply ASAP. We Are driving instructors that teach people to Bay Park every day, so we have great experience to answer your questions with, and are happy to help.

    At last! Someone's made a video with a bird's eye view of how to do this. It is so helpful. Thankyou thankyou thankyou! My son's been teaching me to drive again (after 45 years) and being told to count along the spaces and line up a little sticker on my window with a line on the ground is ok, but to see it done from this angle is great, because it seems to be too early to start turning the steering wheel at 3 spaces away, yet it works! I've only tried it once in reality and made a mess of it. So embarrassing in front of others in the carpark. So lm going to try this again with your teaching. Can't thank you enough. 😃

    TheKundan11 rear view mirror so the top of the rear window is aligned with the top of the mirror and you can see a tiny bit of your left ear in the right edge of the mirror. (If it’s a right hand drive car) Door mirrors so you can see about 10/15 % of your car in the near corner and the horizon in the middle if you can see a horizon Hope this helps. There is a lot to driving on a highway the biggest tip I can give you is be suspicious of everyone try and work out what they are doing from their body language and then react in plenty of time. Also look at the furthest point you can see as well as the car right in front of you. Knowing early means you can react early :) Hope this helps.

    whether forward/reverse bay parking..after you enter the parking spot and your car is straight. do you stop and straighten the steering wheel first; and then drive forward or reverse in a straight line? i guess you call that dry steering. Or do you just recover the steering wheel real quick in one quick motion without stopping after you enter the parking spot? Can i recover my steering wheel at a medium pace to straighten the car without dry steering?

    To be honest that’s a stupid reason for failing. It’s one of those things that should just be a remember that when you’re driving. During tests our minds become over cautious and nervous so we do those things. To fail you on that is slightly wrong. I say that because if overall your driving was good and parking was good and head checks etc. we’re good then there’s no reason to completely fail you on the entire test. Yes fail you or mark you down on the signaling part of the assessment but to be it just sounds odd to fail you on that. Anyway I’m from Australia and the marking and scoring may be different. I hope all worked out for you in the end

    Get your self in the space perfectly my any means even driving through a space to get into one then, Pull out to the left or right doing full lock. Then straighten up, stop as soon as you have straightened the wheels and look to see where the line is for you. You are basically doing the Reverse park backwards to see where you personally need to start the turn. Hope that makes sense?

    I really don't understand why these videos show using the line from 3 bays away as a reference point... Surely this is bad practice? What happens in the real world, when the bay is at the end and there are no additional markings to reference? or when there is only one bay etc..? How does this method help people reverse into gaps once they pass their test ? Surely it makes more sense to use door mirrors to reference the pivot point of the vehicle in relation to the corner you are moving around?

  • @ThinkDriving

    @ThinkDriving

    6 жыл бұрын

    chinapig71 its a guide to help people get started with learning how to park easily. Once they get used to parking they can start practicing going for the harder spaces. It’s like you learn maths before algebra. some people find maths hard so will have to spend longer on it before they tackle algebra. Hope this helps
