In a way, yes; with that line Anakin basically says he acknowledges and reveres the power of the Dark Side that made him stronger. A sort of twisted humility, to put it. In the movie, he says, "You underestimate MY power", showing that he was arrogant and full of prideful foolishness, taking the powers of the Dark Side for granted. TheDeathmail Vader was more of a tool, a pawn used by sidious to hunt and kill all other Jedi. Sidious didn't care for Vader all that much. In the movies, he wanted Luke to kill Vader so he could have Luke become his younger, stronger apprentice.

Think of it like this, his best friend, has hitched a ride with your wife, whom he's discovered doesn't love him anymore, or at least can't, (since he's turned to the dark side) and as such, he believe's it's Obi-Wan who's turned her against him. He force chokes her because he is the one who feels betrayed at this crucial moment. Then, sure enough, the one Anakin feels is responsible shows up, it's Obi-Wan. After this alt... ending where he kills Obi-Wan, he already feels betrayed and so it's likely he would kill Palpatine who promised him he'd be able to save her, which to him was proven false. The reason he didn't or rather, couldn't see Padme in the original ending is because he was defeated. And the reason he didn't outright kill the Emperor upon hearing about Padme's death right from his lips, is because he couldn't. He was no longer powerful enough to "...overthrow the Emperor." The suit was specifically made by Palpatine to limit Vader enough that he'd never be able to defy and defeat Palpatine.

@@Capybara2240 No that's not how the force works. It's so frustrating when people misunderstand what it means to bring balance to the force. Balance isn't 2 Sith and 2 Jedi, it's no Sith at all. The dark side inherently brings imbalance. One is never to utilize its power. Balance was established in Return of the Jedi when the Jedi reigned and the Sith were destroyed. A happy ending.

You know what? This probably would've been the ending if Lucas actually had shot the prequels first. Yes, we wouldn't have gotten the iconic version of Darth Vader we ended up getting, but then again, we would've gotten Anakin in his prime and as the ruler of the empire. It would've been difficult to write a story around that though (no Obi-Wan, Luke and Leia possibly raised by Anakin and taught in the ways of the dark side etc.).

As cool as Ahsoka is she wouldn't stand a chance against Vader at his full Dark Side potential, given in this timeline his limbs aren't severed and he isn't burned alive, he would have become twice as powerful as Sidious. And keep in mind in Rebels Vader was still able to beat Ahsoka even with the burn damages that caused his peak potential to only be 80% of Sidious'. Not to mention with the assumption Vader takes Luke and Leia under his wing he would also have some of the most powerful force users in the galaxy serving him.

I played this shit on hard holy crap i was owned by cin draling and Sera Keto. Sometimes even against droids or clones you couldn't stop moving or you are comboed, grappled, shooted.

dodopoopinpoop I think the final act of episode 3 was the best the prequels ever got. Hayden Christensen was actually decent when he was evil, there was a good amount of emotion and the final fight was great. Whilst episode 3 had its flaws I'd say it was the best out of the prequels definitely

The final act of episode 3 is actually just good, by any of the films' standards, OT included. Hard to say because the final act just blows you away, but RotS is probably on par with the slightly poor RotJ for me, though of course a lot of what RotS has to offer is a vastly improved final lightsaber duel just due to advancements in film-making.

georockable yes sorry I worded that badly. When I said it was the best the prequels got I should have said that it was still great by normal standards. I would personally put RoTs above the rest of the prequels for that third act but below Rotj as I feel that film was consistently decent whereas episode 3 has only got the third act going for it. Of course this is my opinion and I'm glad you're not raging about like other fans

not gonna lie this ending has haunted me for over 10 years

To be honest if Anakin did kill Obi-Wan I don't feel like he would go as far as he did when Obi Wan defeated him. When Anakin was defeated he truely learnt he was in the dark side and even his mentor his guardian had witnessed him to to the dark side. If he had killed Obi-Wan he would live in regret and probably learn how wrong he was and would draw back. Anakin would like in sadness knowing he had killed his best friend the closest person to him. Even when Anakin help palps defeat Windu he highly regrets it even though he wasn't remotely close to Windu so imagine how bad he would feel if he killed Obi-Wan.

But after kill Windu, i don't think he feels sad, i think he feels like: "There's no other way now, i kill a jedi, i cannot be a jedi anymore" He fight against Obi-Wan after kill children. In this fight he is truly Darth Vader.

anakin/darth vader did live in regret. he regretted his actions, otherwise he would have never saved luke. he loved padme and he killed her, and it seems that caused him to feel as if he were at a point of no return, that he had no choice but to obey the emperor. had he killed obi wan then he would have been so big headed that he would have probably spiraled even further out of control. had he never became the man in the mask, he would probably have been much much worse than palpatine could have ever even imagined. him being burnt to a crisp knocked his ego down about 1000 notches, and caused him to become nothing more than an apprentice, a pawn in palpatines game. had he killed obi wan he would have been lost forever, and luke probably never would have pulled anakin back into the light.

+José Roberto Good. There is too many sand planets anyways. So boring. Out of all the interesting planets and landscapes, they keep coming back for the bland sand areas... Ep 1: Sand Planet Ep 2: Sand Planet Ep 3: more interesting planets, most popular prequel. Ep 4: Sand Planet Ep 5: very interesting planets, most popular original trilogy movie. Ep 6: Sand Planet Ep 7: Sand Planet Ep 8: Salt Planet, but it has the same weakness as the sand planets: It looks bland, and it has no interesting aspect of threatening nature like ice and lava places, where it is necessary to have interesting human built installations to make survival possible.

True. But it's possible after killing Obi-Wan he became even more overcome with the dark side. I mean in the normal ending he became Vader and he still had a little bit of light in him. But maybe if this had happened he was able to be fully consumed by the dark side. Kinda like what Kylo Ren was trying to accomplish by killing his dad in Force Awakens. But anyways after being fully consumed by the dark side he probably expanded his goals and visions from beyond just saving Padme. Ya know because the dark side. I don't know, just a thought.

Jude Sweeting We’ve already had so many of those lol. The closest thing to one we’ve had is the LEGO Star Wars The Force Awakens game. If they did movie tie in games I’d still be for it, but considering that in The Last Jedi *SPOILERS* there wasn’t a SINGLE Light Saber duel *SPOILERS* I dunno what they would do with a The Last Jedi movie tie-in game let alone a Lego Star Wars The Last Jedi game. Episode IX maybe though.

Anakin snapped when he found out “he killed” padme... that’s when he truly became Darth Vader.... even during the fight he says he doesn’t want to hurt Obi-Wan..... He could still be reasoned with. And honestly if obi-wan didn’t chop his legs and Anakin did kill him, his ego would be so high he’d probably actually try to take out palpatine, but he probably would’ve died trying though....
