Star Wars Episode 3 Revenge of the Sith Analysis! How does Revenge of the Sith salvage the other prequels The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones with a powerful tragic descent and insidious rise of the true protagonist of the prequels, EMPEROR PALPATINE? What is the true "revenge" of the film's title, and do the Sith ever truly achieve it? In this #StarWars rewatch series, Erik Voss revisits the surprisingly effective #RevengeoftheSith, and the interesting visual details that rank it higher in most best-of lists than you might expect. What secrets of immortality does Palpatine hide in his cryptic tale of Darth Plageuis the Wise? Why do the Jedi fall so easily against Darth Sidious and Order 66? Why doesn't Count Dooku expose Palpatine's plot before his death? And how do the events of this film teach Yoda his most crucial life lesson?

    Unironically ironic. But I sooo agree. This film defined my childhood and cinema for me, it was and still will be my favourite film ever. It might be rivalled by Endgame, but I just love how it has the back story from Ep1 and 2 plus the forwards story of 456. A film I will tear up watching in 30 years time

    Anakin Was raised from 8 to believe he was the chosen one. He was told he special among jedi. Yet he was never treated as even wanted. The council openly made it known he was unwanted or trusted. Even in ROTS he was being treated as unimportant untrustworthy and unwanted. By everyone except palpatine. Palpatine saw the jedi mistreating him from the start and slowly fed that flame.

  • @rpsnider85
    @rpsnider854 жыл бұрын

    Yea my theory has always been that the council was going to promote him to the rank of master shortly anyway, and Sidious knew that and decided to force him onto the Coucil a little sooner. Which he knew would anger them and cause them to NOT grant him the rank he obviously deserved, which would heighten his frustration and cause him to lash out, which basically ended his groundwork phase of turning Anakin against the council.

    And right before going to the Chancellor's little office place windu says if you are right about him being the sith lord, you will then have gained my trust, meaning that he probably would've became a master and also in a twisted way is probably why windu didn't see Anakin's betrayal coming as he was right about Palpatine being the sith and therefore windu now trusted more than ever, exactly when he should've had his doubts

    You missed one. When the Chancellor was telling Anakin the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise, he said the line "He could use the force to influence the midichlorians to create... life." As he said this, he turned and looked at Anakin. This is referencing the backstory where Sidious did this to Shmi to create Anakin.

    a small addition to the brilliant description of the lightsaber fight between the masters and palpatine: The only reason why Mace Windu was able to survive and then get the upper hand on palpatine was because his fighting style (forgot the name) is based on countering the enemy's. Meaning that the stronger the enemy is, the more effective is Windu's style, therefore nullifying the sheer power of palpatine.

    You forgot that part of the reasons for Anakin being so questionable of the pregnancy and Obi-wan visiting Padme is that the novel hints that he thought an affair was going on and that is why Obi-Wan was brought to kill him. His paranoia, anger, pride, weaknesses, etc. all lead to his downfall rather than just "All about Padme and not being a Master." You can couple this more with Ahsoka as we learn from TCW.
