    That’s just an amazing build. I love how you slip into the mindset of the person who owns the car, and build the car as it would be in reality. You captured it perfectly. Love it!

    Back in the early seventies I owned the real deal a 64 big block SS 409 convertable never realized how much it would be worth some day. I was getting married so I thought something cheaper on gas would be the better way to go so I bought a VW lol I still think about that impala it would really get up and go and such a beautiful car memories . Hey anyway thanks for all you do for the hobby God bless.

    In 1965 my girlfriend (my now wife of 54 years) and I would cruise around in her dads 64 Impala SS with a 327 and auto. White with white interior. A beautiful car and we sure did have a lot of fun cruising in that Impala. Fondest of memories. My neighbor bought a new 64 SS with the 425 HP 409 4 speed, posi and all the go fast goodies at that time, Canary Yellow, black interior. First set of rear tires lasted one week! Great build, I got mine and I'm painting it, you guessed it, white, next one Canary Yellow. Thanks Chris I love your builds and am trying to watch them all.

    The impala looks good. i love the used look. seeing how you have a lot of paint build up in the back of your spray booth, i decided to for mine to protect my filters a bit by adding a single tissue for each day i use it. this has reduced the paint getting on it and kept the air flow high.

  • @hpiguy

    Our neighbor got a screaming deal in '64 on a new Impala SS 327, buckets, center council, floor shift, rear speaker, white interior with red dash and trim. Outside totally black. It was a screw up on the order. Someone ordered a red car with white interior and the order taker "accidentally" wrote the code for black exterior. The car had an odd look - if you didn't know the story it looked weird! Your car's story reminded me. Great build. I'll meet you over at one of your other fine videos. Keep goin'. Chris, that turned out great! Revell really captured the body shape very well IMO for this ‘64.......much better so than AMT. AMT to my eyes never got the C pillars right in what was originally an annual. They always appeared “thin” to me. I’ve got a couple of the previous issues now......some great inspiration to definitely look into building mine! 👌

    I still have a package of Pegasus low rider gold wire wheel and tires from the 90's and I now know the perfect ( stereotypical too I might add ) model kit to use them with. Back then the hobby shop had a display case which had model kits people built displayed in it, and a lot of low riders were usually in there. People building those use to use cotton in the back window, around the interior along with the flocking stuff. The store started carrying the Pegasus products which had wheel and tires sets, sub woofers for the trunks, gold plated brake calipers and other odds and ends to "pimp out" your ride. I even remember people taking beer caps and using them for tires which I thought was kinda neat. Anyway watching your video just kind of took me back to that time when low riders and parts were a big thing. Great looking kit and I will sure to be picking up one. After all I have a few Impala kits anyway, seems like that has been a popular model that companies have produced over the years.

    Man, awesome job AGAIN!!! Love how you weathered it up like a real one. Question: do you ever have problems getting that paint to lay right? Meaning, I've had some problems where it didn't lay down a glossy finish, as I wanted it to! Or, it spit out small particles on the surface. You seem to always get it laying down perfect? I mean, even before you put the floor gloss on it, it's nice & shinny! But I do most of my painting outside. Would that have anything to do with it?

  • @hpiguy

    @hpiguy

    Outside you have a big chance of stuff landing in the paint and the paint drying too much mid-air. The temp and air is much more stable ad clean in the basement, but I still have defects here and there.

    Great build. I’m thinking about building the “Up In Smoke” one driven by Cheech Marin. I was wondering what material you would suggest to make the fur interior? All help would be a great help. Thanks

    Did you keep the kit chrome on the bumpers and just apply dull coat or did you remove the stock kit chrome and re-paint new chrome and dull it?

    What kind of silver pencil do you use? I have problems with the pencil showing up on the paint.

    I use a Sharpie marker. For flat surfaces any silver pencil from the craft store works. I change brands all the time.

    Craft paints are water based, windex has water and alcohol and ammonia so it breaks up the paint better, makes it easier to spray.

    How does the body look? I just realized mine is not good, the side trim is not in the proper place and the right side body line isn't complete. How is yours?

    With that music in the sideshow, I could just hear the airhorn playing la cucaracha as he's passing by a friend in his neighborhood. Is this a 100% re-release, or did they do like with the '69 Mustang and added some new tooled parts in this?

    Thanks! No one said it was 'better' than thinner just to make that clear. I use it with craft paints because it works very well, is cheap and easily available.
