For many lowrider enthusiasts, it's not just how low, but also how long and they don't come much bigger than this big Cadillac. Its powerful V-8 engine, body-on-frame construction and luxurious interior trim make it a perfect candidate for the "Low 'n slow" treatment. We note that this kit with the exception of the wheels and tires can almost be built stock.
Features
Bright gold plated spoked lowrider type wheels
Your choice of stock or custom grille treatment
Modern Tooling plastic body includes simulated moon roof and vinyl top with opera lamps
Hood opens to reveal engine detail and trunk lid opens to display simulated hydraulic pump detail
Molded in white, silver, black and clear with chrome and gold plated parts and black vinyl tires
Cadillac /ˈkædɪlæk/ is a division of the American automobile manufacturer General Motors (GM) that designs and builds luxury vehicles. Its major markets are the United States, Canada, and China. Cadillac models are distributed in 34 additional markets worldwide. Cadillac automobiles are at the top of the luxury field within the United States.[2] In 2019, Cadillac sold 390,458 vehicles worldwide, a record for the brand.[3]
Cadillac is among the first automobile brands in the world, second in the United States only to fellow GM marque Buick. The firm was founded from the remnants of the Henry Ford Company in 1902.[4] It was named after Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac, who founded Detroit, Michigan. The Cadillac crest is based on his coat of arms.
By the time General Motors purchased the company in 1909, Cadillac had already established itself as one of America's premier luxury car makers. The complete interchangeability of its precision parts had allowed it to lay the foundation for the modern mass production of automobiles. It was at the forefront of technological advances, introducing full electrical systems, the clashless manual transmission and the steel roof. The brand developed three engines, with its V8 setting the standard for the American automotive industry.
Cadillac had the first U.S. car to win the Royal Automobile Club of the United Kingdom's Dewar Trophy by successfully demonstrating the interchangeability of its component parts during a reliability test in 1908; this spawned the firm's slogan "Standard of the World". It won the trophy again in 1912 for incorporating electric starting and lighting in a production automobile.
The Cadillac Fleetwood is a model of luxury car that was manufactured by the Cadillac division of General Motors between 1976 and 1996. The "Fleetwood" name was previously used as a prefix on several of Cadillac's models dating back to 1935. Four door cars bearing the name "Fleetwood" generally had longer wheelbases than Cadillac's more common Series 62 and DeVille models.
A lowrider (sometimes low rider) is a customized car with a lowered body.[1] These customized vehicles are generally individually painted with intricate, colorful designs, rolling on wire-spoke wheels with whitewall tires. Lowrider rims range from 13". They are also fitted with hydraulic[2] or air bag systems that allow the vehicle to be raised or lowered at the owner's command.[3] Given these specific characteristics, while a lowrider is always a lowered car, a lowered car is not always a lowrider. The term is used to describe a class of vehicle, not simply the height from ground to chassis.
The term lowrider can also refer to the driver of the car.
It began in Los Angeles, California in the mid-to-late 1940s and during the post-war prosperity of the 1950s. Initially, some Mexican-American youths lowered blocks, cut spring coils, z’ed the frames and dropped spindles. The aim of the lowriders is to cruise as slowly as possible, "Low and Slow" being their motto. By redesigning these cars in ways that go against their intended purposes and in painting their cars so that they reflect and hold meanings from Mexican culture, lowriders create cultural and political statements that go against the more prevalent Anglo culture.[4] However, this resulted in a backlash: the enactment of Section 24008 of the California Vehicle Code on January 1, 1958, which made it illegal to operate any car modified so that any part was lower than the bottoms of its wheel rims.

In 1959, a customizer named Ron Aguirre developed a way of bypassing the law with the use of hydraulic Pesco pumps and valves that allowed him to change ride height at the flick of a switch
In the 1990s, lowriders became strongly associated with West Coast Hip hop and G-Funk culture. Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Game, Warren G, South Central Cartel, Eazy-E and Above the Law among others featured lowriders prominently in their music videos.

I've owned 5 Cadillacs in my lifetime and still counting. I'm only 34 years old. I currently own a 1970 Cadillac Deville Convertible. Would love to see them make more Cadillac model car kits. Love to see them make 70 Caddy Deville Convertible so I can build it like how I'm building my actual Caddy.
😂😂😂 the reference to Next Friday movie , they tens but I keep em clean , that killed me 👍👍👍✌️✌️✌️

Finish this one with chalk marks from the Poe-Leese impound yard and a couple bullet holes! Realistic with the ‘hood look’… seriously… nice work!
I have not been a big fan of lowriders in the past but I do dig this Caddy. Great job!!

I love these Lowrider kits. Revell really does a great job giving you everything you need. I think when I get this kit, I am so jacking the front up in the air. These guys love doing that when at shows or driving down the road.

Wow!! You do some great work. It's been about 30 years since I built a model. One of the last ones I built was a 90's. Gmc Sonoma p/u. I made it look like it was in a accident. Crumpled front, deployed air bag. Keep up the good work.
I must say your color choice for this build is spot on, those wheels really brought it together

Teeny, tiny nit - stock engine in '59 was 390 cid = 5.7 liter, just for the record. "Wiki" has a ton of useful auto & truck related info for anyone seeking another "rabbit hole" to go down. Note that Chris includes what appears to be "Wiki" information on this post.

Another awesome video and review. You are the top few I go to for reviews and model building ideas. Love your strategy on how you build your models. Is there anyway you could do a video on how you apply your pledge clearcoat? I’ve tried this in the past with a airbrush... no luck

Glad you like them! It's just brushed on like I say. But I did demo that in the Revell Concept Camaro video.
I bought this kit 15 years ago and wished it turned out better than what it did. The paint on mine started to crinkle up and just didnt do well. I would love to do this kit again with the same decals that I had 15 years ago. They changed the decals sadly.
Cool music

Yet another great build. Love following along on most of your builds. I sometimes pick up some tips from your builds. So now comes one for you. Using transparant tamiya have you tryed painting on outside of lights? For me that works better. But i guess it depends on the kit/model. Thanks for sharing your work.
@hpiguy

I do that in this video....in the detailing section. I use transparent Tamiya brush paints on almost every car build.

Thats cool. I find on my truck builds i paint the rear lights on the outside of the glass, not on the inside. Makes them more like colored glass/plastic. Love your work.
Great review. It’s a shame they don’t offer these kits as a stock version. At the time the single rectangular headlight was available there was no two door version of the full size Cadillac. It would be great of they could release one with the 6 litre engine and the four rectangular headlights.
those big ships usually carried a big 500cu.in. V8, not very muscle but enough to move that weight
Didn't know that you're from the Chi. Sounds like you come from my old hood lol. Great Work 💯
