Watch my unboxing and initial overview of the Revel Kit electric skateboard. This kit is an all in one dual direct drive motor and battery assembly with an included front truck that allows you to create an electric skateboard without any knowledge or skills required. The kit includes all the tools needed to assemble so you just need to provide your own skateboard deck. I chose the Loaded Fattail with the Flex 2 option (I weigh about 155 pounds) for my build. The kit is very modular and should fit on most skateboards, longboards, cruisers, and pintail decks.
Included in the kit:
- All in one assembly kit (dual motors with wheels and bearings installed)
- Front truck with wheels and bearings installed
- Battery with charger with dock
- Remote with micro USB charge cable
- Abec wheel and Orangatang wheel adapters
- Riser pad for front truck
- Skate tool and hardware (screws and bolts)
I chose the extended range kit which means my battery is a higher capacity allowing me to get about 10-15 miles (16-24 kilometers) out of the 6000 mAh battery with a single charge. Since it is completely modular, you have the option of swapping out your dead battery with a freshly charged one with the push of a button. When operating in the fastest mode (mode 4) you can reach speeds up to 28 miles per hour (45 kilometers per hour)! The standard kit comes with 90 millimeter sized wheels with 74a durometer which means they provide a very soft and comfortable ride. The remote has a slider knob and in practice works surprisingly well. It is simple to program and go through the different modes, and since the kit includes multiple wheel type adapters, you are able to replace those as well with any size ranging between 85 and 110 millimeters while still receiving accurate speed readouts on the digital display. If you aren't worried about the speed displaying accurately, then this kit will still work with wheels larger than 110 millimeters as well.
This kit will take you about 10 minutes to unbox and assemble. Mine came with the battery and the remote already charged so I was able to ride it straight out of the box! If you are looking for an electric skateboard but you don't want one with belt drive or hub motors, the revel kit is the perfect option. You are able to use any skateboard deck you want and can replace the wheels as well to make your electric skateboard exactly to your desires.

Gordon Lin I love it so far. Ran into a problem with the remote battery dying too fast and I contacted support. They sent me a new battery for the remote. Im getting my cloud wheels on Monday so looking forward to that.

Have you ridden at least 350 miles? Of so any problems ?cool, I live on the east coast and the fall weather is help cool down the motors so I don't see that being an issue. I wasn't more concerned about the battery falling out and not being able to bail

I’ve only gone around 100 miles so far. I’ve had no problems whatsoever. I was initially concerned with overheating because I live in the desert but I never noticed any performance degradation. I’ll let you know when I get closer to that higher mile count!

Great video, Brian! I just received my kit last week (Extended battery & 2WD). I'm only reaching speeds of 20mph, with stock wheels and optimal road conditions, which is much less than what Revel has advertised. I'm getting the speed reading from my remote which could be off as well. Curious to know the top speed of your board!

So I have not tried to max my speed out yet bc Im a bit uncomfortable going that fast, but when I put it in level 4 I am able to go above 20 mph. Are you only in level 3? Bc that for me tops out around 20 mph. Maybe try doing a dry run of the motor without being on the board and cycle through the modes like I did in the video and see what it shows. I also notice going uphill or into the wind slows down the top speed tremendously

@@timmack6190 I know what you mean lol. Maxing out at top speed can be a little risky. I did have it on level 4. I actually just tested it out again but this time I used the Waze app side by side with the remote. I feel when I drive with Waze the speedometer is fairly accurate to what my car's speedometer is reading. With my most recent test, I was able to obtain a speed of 25mph on Waze while the revel remote read 21mph. Could just be a calibration issue with the Revel remote and can be adjusted by changing to a different wheel diameter in the remote's settings.

I figured the wheel size calibration could affect it. That was going to be my next suggestion. I still have fun regardless of which speed I’m going though!
