Not that I personally experienced it since I haven't yet been to the Philippines. I'm a bit concerned about the new immigration changes that may be signed into law in the near future. That might delay my move to the Philippines depending on which Visas I might qualify for. To be frank I would rather stay as a tourist for a few years to see if China makes a move. Here in the Philippines, if you have 2 names like your Davina Bianca, you can opt to have a nickname using either your 1st or 2nd name. You chose Bianca and that's ok. But for legal documents you have to use your complete name

That was fun and interesting. I too would have reservations of laying everything out there so don't feel like you need to but in doing so, we really get to know more about you. Michael's background is really amazing and he surely brings an uncommon perspective and by that I mean a really good perspective. He is very personable and genuine. You MS Bianca are his gold mine and super interesting and cute. Your story also very interesting and its clear your momma loves you big time and you love her too. My questions for both of you if you care to answer are: Are you 'married' and do you have any plans for expansion (have kids) or will you continue to travel and explore a bit longer? We are married we recently (Feb) had our 2 year anniversary. We were married in Canada . We do expect to travel for a very long time. We do so as we can afford it, the food thing is we have our whole lives and it's not a rush :)

I dig your content and for the most part I'm inspired by your experiences in the Philippines. I admit I cannot relate to this video very well. Not your fault of course everyone's experience is unique to them. I live in the Bronx NYC. from where I stand y'all had it great. hunting, karate, moving to remote locations, beaver hunting, open land. etc. and being "private" about such a fulfilled life seems weird. If anyone from where I lived had those experiences you shared they would have never left Canada. My brother lives in Cebu city and he's doing greater than we ever have. I'm planning a trip to The Philippines for a better life where in a sense I'm heading to the things that you left, but economically more doable than my retired life in the Hood, relatively speaking of course. but realistically y'all had it good. way better than you imagine as far aside can see.either way. thanks for sharing.

What I hear Bianca say is "Divina", but most commentors say "Davina". Its typical in Filipino culture to merge names to form a new one like, Luzviminda. I think of "Bianca" as a screen name for security, and you're right that its cute. Props to divulging parts of your private life, but you didn't have to. But your background helps viewers understand. There are many non-westerners who think that westerners are well off and rich. Wishing you a great life ahead. Take care guys.

It's Davina, a combination from her father's name "David" and the last 3 letters of her mother's name.

Stop feeling pressured and sorry about not revealing your real name. Many vloggers and artists adopt screen names, and we completely understand and respect that. For your information, it's quite common for celebrities in the Philippines to use catchy screen names for better name recognition, and it can actually work to your advantage. Using a nickname for your vlog is entirely up to you, as it's your channel and your prerogative. There's nothing wrong with it, and it allows you to maintain the level of privacy and identity you're comfortable with.

One more thing, lie is a strong word, in recent weeks there's been a crisis of confidence regarding a certain KZreadr in the Philippines who shall remain unnamed. My impression of both of you, is that you are kind and honorable people and do not deserve to in any way be put in that same category.

I have followed you guys since pre-Philippines, and I completely understand why you didn’t want to use your first name, Bianca. You wanted to maintain a sense of privacy. A mask, if you will 😜. I think both of your names are beautiful!

I have a Filipina mum and my name (Belinda) is taken from the first 2 letters of dad's name and last 5 letters of mum's name. It might be a popular "Filipino" thing to do as Bianca had a similar story behind her first name.

Michael I know you lived on a farm but not as close to the edge of the world as you really lived. I don't blame you for being scared. You've honestly have molded your life into something really special. You've lived the American Dream even though you're not fron the USA. No matter what secrets you and Bianca can spill will never change the fact you both are 2 of my friends & most favorite people on earth, as you both were there during a time in my life when I was going through a lifestyle change. Bianca is so 'lucky' to have a Michael that grew up in that kind of childhood. I was born in a remote countryside where there was no electricity. That was the best chapter of my life.

I like Davina, mainly due to the history of the name, but we know you now as Bianca so I believe you should continue with that name. My mother went by her middle name as well, Willarose, mainly because her first name was the same as her mothers, Leah. There is no context as to where the name Willarose came from it just exists. As children and teen years I would spend time with my grandparents on the farm during spring break and summer break plus we would visit every month. They did not have running water and had the outhouse and granny cooked on a wood burning stove. So I have lived through that as well but not full time like Michael did. So your background stories are interesting however to see your adventures in the Philippines is Exciting and has been Awesome!! I can not wait to get back over there for my next visit - Maybe I will see you then !!!

I am thinking of visiting the Philippines next December for the holidays. It's a long way from Vermont where I live, so I would stay for 3 weeks to a month! I miss the food and the people! I would love to live there, but it is such a long way from home! I have tw/o boys that I love dearly and want to be part of their life's, so long visits to the Philippines is what will work for me right now. Davina Bianca..it is unique. My cousin's name is Divina Jennifer and we call her Dijen which is also unique.

We've been to Toronto, Ca. in 2004. Our hotel was just behind the old city hall. That big grey stone building. We went up the CN tower and had dinner at that revolving restaurant. Toronto is a nice city.

That is just a normal thing that filipinos do. As you know we don't consider that as a middle name here in the Philippines but your first name as well. So what everyone do is just choose the first name they like to use. That is just a normal thing here.

And thinking about Michael's early life makes me think if he continued that life style, he would be Shawn James of "My Self Reliance" you tube channel. Did you ever watch him build a log cabin in the lakes district of Ontario? It's fascinating to see all the work he does in old fashioned ways and how he lives off the land, growing his own food and hunting and fishing. Maybe you two should try your hands at that for the next chapter of your life together..

You shouldn't really be too open about your private lives online. You never know who will misuse/ ABUSE the info against you. It's good to be a little mysterious sometimes.

I’ve followed you both since forever. Bianca ,you have come out of your shell and your confidence shows. Our childhood shapes us into the people we become. Love both names. I know quite a few people that change their names f,or some reason or others.

Mike is the more open and real who never hesitate to tell about his childhood because I can relate with him the same almost the same story growing up in the Philippines and it's no big deal as there's nothing to be ashamed of if one look at it as consequential thing..

@Chard neo. I’ve noticed that Filipinos esp of older generations always use nicknames. No one calls them by their formal given birth first name. It was interesting to me that the nicknames aren’t usually shortened versions of their birth names, which is what i observed more among my American peers growing up in USA. Like Cindy for Cynthia. For the Filipinos, the nickname is often totally different it seems to me. I also noticed nicknames are really popular in American South, as compared to other regions of USA. Not an official stat, just something noted in my experience living in different regions.

You can just say that Bianca is your screen name. It is pretty common for celebrities to have a screen name. So just keep using Bianca as your screen name if you are not comfortable using Davina. Besides, Bianca is also your name so it's not lying to say that your name is Bianca. As for Michael, you can indeed survive anywhere. Surprisingly (or maybe not), those who grew up in hardships have a better outlook in life when they grow older. They are emotionally stronger and can adjust to any situations in life that they encounter. The Filipinos are also resilient because, just like Michael, most are used to hardships. But I wonder if Michael feels awkward calling Davina as Bianca. I'm sure he is used to calling Bianca as Davina off camera.
