Revealing the Hidden Dangers of Bone Loss: All-on-4 Dental Implants

ALL-ON-4: Understanding Its Risks, Rewards, and Aftercare | Dr. Bryan Hendriks
In this video, Dr. Bryan Hendriks addresses the fears around ALL-ON-4 dental implants, debunking the myth that one cannot wear a denture if the procedure fails. He explains the process of the surgery, the importance of bone shaping for implant stability, and the factors that can lead to implant failure. He emphasizes being transparent about health conditions and medication use prior to the procedure, and talks on the risk factors such as smoking, uncontrolled diabetes, medication use, or non-compliance with post-surgical maintenance. He also visually explains how bone loss affects denture stability, especially on the lower arch. Dr. Hendriks reinforces the idea that communication and following the doctor's instructions are critical for successful recovery and long-term results.

Alveoplasty is a very simple technique that makes it easier to do all on 4 for lazy dentists who want to do quick and cheap techniques. Whereas you can implant teeth with no fake gums, following the natural contours of the gums, but it takes a great deal of skill to do this.

I have all my teeth and one RCT molar with a zirconia crown. I rather get 3 on 6 if it ever gets that bad.

Great video Dr. Hendriks. I had an implant on #30 come out 20 days after it was initially put in. I am a non-smoker and not diabetic or pre-diabetic as confirmed by blood work. This was my 3rd implant. What my dentist did after consulting with a few dental surgeons is go back in, clean the area out, bone graft and then waited around 270 days went back in and set the implant. I just had a 90 day check-up and all is well and the abutment procedure will be in 2 more weeks and then crown prep and finally crown install. Everything you described is exactly what I went thru and the dentist is unsure exactly what the cause of the implant coming out was. As stated he gave me a huge price break and I paid an additonal fee. I don't work for free and I certainly don't expecct anyone else to work for free either. Anyways thanks again for another great video.

Thanks for the information Doc. I am pre diabetic up to a type 2 diabetic. No medication or shots . I stay very active and workout weekly. I am in the process of quitting smoking ,so far so good. But being a diabetic is a disqualifying factor I am glad that I came across your video.

Being a diabetic doesn’t disqualify you completely. It really depends on how controlled it is. Thanks for watching my friend!

Request your last A1C results and we would like a number below 7. If your below 7, your okay from a diabetic perspective.

Very informative video! I saw a video that said if a patient was on opoids for a chronic condition, they have more pain with an all on 4 than someone that doesn't take pain meds. When I asked my Dr. this he said that wasn't true. He said he'd bump up my pain meds a little but didn't say anything about adjusting the IV sedation method which is what I'm worried about. I know from watching your videos that you do general anesthesia on your all on 4 surgeries but nobody in my area will do that. So basically I want to know if you think 1. IV sedation is adequate for someone who has been on opiods for years. 2. Would opiods use (for years) alone cause a greater risk of implant failure, or is it the combination of many medications (which I'm not taking alot of)? Thank you so much for your videos! I've learned more from you than from all of the dentists I've seen for the all on 4 processes so far. 😊

Thank you Doctor. Is it ok to have 12 zirconia teeth, because they are heavy, on just 4 implants (all on 4, upper jaw)?

Hello Dr. Hendriks. I have a question to you since nobody else seems to want to answer this question. I have a severely underdeveloped lower and upper jaw and I'm ugly as shit basically. I am in a catch-22 situation: I keep getting dental decay despite brushing 2x-3x, flossing 1x a day and on top of that I have a healthy diet with at least 1g of calcium thru greek yoghurt. Because of this, the ortho won't give me braces. And because my teeth will, for this reason, remain very crooked, maxfacs won't perform JS on me either. So as I said, catch-22 kinda situation. Neither nor. To me it looks like, as a non-dentist, an all-on-6 denture for both arches could be the only solution to this, and realistically I shouldn't have any issues since I already have adequate hygiene.... I can't keep looking like this. I hate my face. Yet my dentist keeps saying no, I don't think he understands my issues from my perspective. Thoughts?

Sounds like a big decision my friend. Do you have e access to any Xray’s that you could send my way? Even if it’s a picture or video of your Xray’s, it would be helpful. Also a pic of your smile(pulling lips as high as you can-> cheesy) in the best lighting. Send them to contact@dreamdentalimplants.com I will look for it😉 I would be willing to a live KZread video consultation where I help you get some clarity on the issue. I’m sure it might help others that are experiencing something similar.

Depending on what type of final device you have. They should be able to give you more lip support. Make sure you make that known to your doctor and your prosthodontist before your final device is designed.

The lip support can be corrected with the prosthetic. Be sure to ask your doctor this before the design of your teeth. You should be able to explain your concerns and desires. Thanks for watching!
