Epic!! I’ve found it a really useful approach, would have to be my favourite for getting longboarders to approach the noseride from the correct line - would love to hear how it goes 🙂🙏🤙 yewww!!!

Thanks, Ben, for taking time on the tour to bring us this video. Nowhere near ready to noseride here, but seeing the process deepens my understanding of longboarding (or “classic surfing” as some might say) itself.🤙

Hey!! Can I just get some clarification on the pop up you mean? Are you referring to where each hand is a bit further up or back from the other to assist with rotation for the pop-up? Or something else?? Excited to get onto it!! 🙏🤙

Another amazing video Ben! can I ask you a suggestion? when I perform the pop up, I'm really too explosive and I jump in the middle of the board, instead of stay nearest to the tail/fin. so, when i do the first step I finish to nosedive :( how can I exercise on the ground/at home to force myself to popup slowly and controlled nearest to the tail/fin? thanks Ben!!!

Hey! That makes sense, it's really just getting used to the feeling of dialling that pop-up right back. The back foot position will only move a little way forwards from where the back foot is when you're paddling. As a good rule of thumb to use, practise popping up with your back foot landing just in front of where the fin is positioned. That being said, it all depends on where your surfing is at at the moment of course, if you're riding waves in the white water or not taking off on steeper waves then popping up at the tail can be problematic as it inherently makes the board go slower. I'd suggest if this is the case, keeping the pop-up the same for the moment and try moving your front foot, then your back foot closer to the tail in that order, then start your cross stepping from there :)

Thanks for sharing this useful drill. I have a question. When I stand in the middle of the board. I try to adjust the board toward to the shoulder, the rail often cut into the water too much. I wonder how to avoid this. Hope to get some advice. Thanks.

Hey Ethan! Yeah I definitely understand what you mean there. I always make the suggestion of leaning a bit more with that back foot than the front foot, as placing too much weight onto the front foot here can dig that rail right in! But the other thing to do is understand moving then board from this middle position is a slow process, it shouldn't happen quickly as we're not on the tail, so being a bit more gentle and allowing the board to reposition at its own pace is always a good idea :) Hope thats helpful!!

Hi Ben! Thanks for your useful suggestions. Actually I did some practice today and it worked. I successfully cross stepping into front third of board. Although I didn’t hang five😂😂😂, I felt great already! As you said, it’s a slow process to adjust the board and find the balance. Thanks again!
