Jordan the problem you are describing is more about rev hang than the fact that first is too different than second. Rev hang is manufactured in in newer cars to help mpg, whereas older sporty cars tend to have much less. If you want first to feel better look into a lighter flywheel and maybe a ecu flash if that car has it built into the throttle response.

Welcome to the ST Family Jordan. Focus ST owner here. The Fist Is a fantastic car. Heel-Toeing is tough in both the FiST and the FoST. Get yourself a pedal spacer. It makes a world of difference. That and a Cobb Accessport, it'll give you just a bit more responsive pep. With the right build you can have that thing pushing 500hp if you really wanted to go all out. Hope you keep enjoying it!

Wahey! I too have a frozen white ST180 but its UK spec with the red Recaro's, 3 door layout and a MR230 performance pack, brilliant car on windy back roads.
Remember that the handbrake can be your best friend in uphill stop and go traffic.
I think he mentioned it in one of his streams once
First have fun with this, go do some autocross events with the car. It is a great car for them. Also honestly, a great balanced upgrade would be a 2019 Mustang Gt with track pack. or a Gt350. BMW M2 would be a good one too.
@armadillolover99
4 жыл бұрын
If you're going M2 though, you gotta get the M2 Competition. The original M2 was underpowered and supremely lacking in fun factor. Also I'd much rather the M2 Competition over the Mustang just because the BMW is smaller and more tossable as opposed to the Mustang which is heavy in comparison and doesn't handle as well. I think the GT and especially the Shelby models are great cars, but he's already got high powered supercars, I think something light that he can throw around is more the way to go just for variety's sake.
Ive had a 2015 Fiesta ST for a year now. If you're trying to add a little power and make the car more spirited add an aftermarket intercooler, drop in air filter, and grab yourself an e30 tune from dizzytuning. Makes the car feel completely different and adds a ton more power for only a few hundred bucks
I have the 2017 version of the Fiesta ST and it's a surprisingly fun car. Obviously it's not going to hold a candle to the rest of your garage but a good choice for a first manual. The inability to heel-toe is something a lot of people complain about. If you want to do it right, you'll have to get a kit to change the pedals. As for going from first to second, shift sooner (like around 2300 rpms) and you will have a much better time. There's so little power being put down in first that you should want to get out of it as soon as possible anyways.
Dont wait for the speed to drop dude. Just slowly let the clutch out.
That’s the car model i learned to drive in ❤️
I used to have a 2014 Focus ST and installed a pedal spacer. Made a huge difference with heel toe shifting. I highly recommend getting one.
Its awesome. I drive a cobalt ls 2006 dohc and i can't heal toe either, because my gas pedal is so much deeper underneath the dash compared to my brake. I end up hafting to let off the brake and quickly slap the gas.

As a veteran manual driver, listening to how Jordan shifts from 1st to 2nd made me facedesk. You don’t have to wait for the rpms to drop. It’s exactly like taking off. Equal foot distribution. Don’t wait for the RPM to drop! You’re just gonna piss others off bc you’re slowing down.
Personally I'd suggest changing up to 2nd around 10-11mph it generally improves the experience without causing the car to buck or lose power.

I love how it's such a big deal it's MANUAL TRANSMISSION.
Jardon flips so much over standard car features. 'I can put the seats down!" Uhuh. Thats normal
Have you ever tried double clutching? When you tap the clutch, shift to neutral and tap the gas, tap the clutch again, then shift it into the lower gear? That’s how I downshift when trying to pass. Tapping the gas in neutral will spin the revs fast enough to rev match for the lower gear.
the only thing i hate was how he refereed to the wing as it having down force when that is not the purpose of it what so ever it is used to prevent negative drag. This is also the reason why you see semi truckers sometimes have those flaps on the top and sides of the container that they are shipping to reduce drag because when you leave a big box like that on the back of a faster moving car you get a negative pressure system which causes the car to be pulled backwards. This is why you see the wing of the car tilted downwards towards the street and not like a spoiler would be which is faced the opposite direction
Nobody: Jordan: I'll tell ya
And I was here being proud of my Focus ST in pretty much the same state with exhaust and wheels and Jordan is like meh XD

You have to remember he's used to way more performance, Jordan's been daily driving a GT3 RS for well over a year and before that his daily driver was C 63S. Not exactly someone who can seamlessly shift to below 200 HP and be anything but unimpressed. My car gets 250 and while I could have fun in a Fiesta, I wouldn't exactly be blown away by it either. Also your car is more powerful and from what I've heard, a lot more fun than the Fiesta version so idk why you'd be disappointed.

As far as the wheels, I agree with Jordan. They look better than stock, but the fake center lock caps give them a very ricey feel.

I know where he's coming from and I think thats most people's (including myself) ultimate goal. I just find it funny when you think about different perspectives like that lol
To help with the 1st to second time. Instead of waiting for so long, slowly disengage the clutch right at the bite point. You'll get used to it, and some will say it's gonna cause more wear on your clutch (of course you will). When you do this it will help the engine match wheel speed faster and with less jerking. The problem is you have such a newer car, and it has a heavy flywheel. The newer cars have such bad rev hang because of emissions reasons. My 1990 Miata had less power and less gears then my Dodge dart Mopar edition, but without modern rev hang it's so easier
Very proud. Your finally a real car guy. I knew it would be a Fiesta ST when I saw the title of this video. Great fun car.
You need to get some JDM cars
Wow Jardon with a manual transmission car🤯 Also, just saying,I really like the Fiesta ST,like,A LOT👌
Good one! Remember kids: A real man always decides when it's time to change gear. BTW, I rarely even use the brake pedal unless something unexpected comes up. If I am approaching a corner or roundabout I will shift down from ex 4rth to 2nd gear and slowly ease off the clutch. The motorbreaking will usually be enough to get the speed down sufficiently.
i really like learning about cars like this cause you make it fun
Anyone know what pants Jordan was wearing? They look dope
Is that quality content pants I see on Jardonian's legs
I have a Focus ST and I had the same problem from 1st to 2nd. You really just gotta let out the clutch slowly and smoothly and the revs will drop quicker and more gently.
Good luck!!!
