The plaster ceiling in the furnace room is probably for fire protection. The insurance company may want a ceiling to protect that dry wood. You may look at a sprinkler while you are redo the ceiling. There are now low pressure units that use household water mains. One more level of protection.

I am excited for you that your next big project with the kitchen renovation has started. It looks like another big job. Those stones and workbench are pretty cool. Great finds at the brocantes. The market looked awesome. So much fresh produce. The wig on your dog was funny. We had a Pitt cross who loved to get dressed up. I mean pearls, necklace, earrings (clip ons), tiarara, the whole gammet. We only did it once and took her picture. Unfortunately, I lost the picture. We always had pets and we were blessed they were all calm and gentle and lived long, happy lives. All of your fur babies look very happy and content. Enjoy your time away. You will feel a real sense of satisfaction, when it is completed. Strange how it manages to get itself into a mess from time to time! Lincoln, I cringed watching you bend awkwardly to get the mirror off the trailer and carry it into the chateau. My own back that creaks and groans and gives out from time to time, shouted out STOP too! Sadly we are our own worst enemy.... and we don't get any wiser. Please take care.

I'm wondering if the span is too wide even for your large beams. They can slowly deflect creating a over a 100 years or more. It might be worth having a building engineer come in to look at it to determine if you might now want to put a post somewhere in the middle of the beam. Gorgeous marble. Gorgeous mirror ... how can you go wrong!

Great Finds once again. Lovely photography as well. May I suggest some moving tips, having had a Brocante myself, and moved tons of stuff in my life. Going up stairs; put a sturdy plank of wood under object and either slide said furniture up the wood or use as leverage. This also work getting heavy furniture off the trailer. For heavy furniture on floors, I use carpet cut-offs, turned upside down, pile to floor, under said furniture and it's amazing how strong you feel. No kidding, I had stuff I could not budge but once carpet was in either four corners or just one side, I could move it around my wonky floors without help.

I totally agree with you about tile in the kitchen - if you cook a lot it’s hard to stand on, everything shatters if dropped and water can still damage it. Our fridge leaked behind and the water went under the tile to the subfloor and cement board and eventually cracked the tile. We had to rent a jackhammer to get it up. In our current home we went with hardwood.

Would that old table be any good to make an Island for chopping food on? It would be great if you could use that old sink somewhere. Great finds!

That was my thought exactly! That thick fine piece of wood would make such a gorgeous kitchen island with the right fine-carpentry underneath it designed to look classic yet French-country. The biggest butcher-block one could hope for!

If the old sink you found in the basement doesn’t work for inside…..maybe you could use it as a potting table in the walled garden?? 😊🌻👩🏼‍🌾

Knives with bone handles but could it be antler? I say that because I have a large carving knife & fork and thought antler. However, mine are not as smooth and uniform as yours appear. Mirror is BEAUTIFUL...dirt cheap means owner didn't want to move it again.

That was a nice episode indeed. I've become a great fan of your channel. Far better entertainment than Netflix.

I wonder if the free marble pieces would be the right size as a backsplash for the granite sink? The existing floorboards in the kitchen might be good to leave as a subfloor for your new hardwood. That huge mirror was a great find! Thanks for sharing!

The mirror is great. If you find a good one for a great price, the glass alone makes it worth while.

The mirror is wonderful, wow! It could go in so many different locations, you can't go wrong. This brocante you spoke of, it would be great to know where it is. But of course, completely understand if you aren't able to do that. Thank you for another great video, guys!
