--------------------- -------------------- -------------------- -------------------- -------------------- ---------------
While obtaining his degree in communication studies from Oakland University, Curtis Childs experienced an internal battle with depression that led him to question God and his lifelong interest in Swedenborgian theology. After a period of intense suffering, he recovered from his depression with the help of modern medicine, therapy, and a return to the spiritually uplifting messages he found in Swedenborg’s writings.
Curtis is applying his education and desires to help others find peace through Swedenborg’s insights by producing and hosting this weekly webcast. He’s happiest when he can use Swedenborg’s concepts to help someone solve something they used to think was unsolvable.
Curtis has appeared on many international radio shows, podcasts, and KZread shows, such as Talk Gnosis, Sunday Morning Spiritual, The Butterfly Moment, Dark Thirty Radio, and We Don’t Die Radio, and has been a speaker at several conferences, including TCCHE and IANDS.
Please enjoy my conversation with Curtis Childs.

I thought that too growing up. Now, after 20yrs of chronic pain and 10yrs of addiction (7yrs in recovery 🙌🏻) and near lifetime of mental illness... I'm not afraid of any pain or suffering before crossing... I have been in pain and suffering for as long as I can remember. I can't wait to die and be out of pain. What I don't look forward to is being left behind by death as loved ones go before me.

Dark night of the soul gave me a choice. Cosmic intelligence became my path. All answers are within me for any question I may have. Coded in my “ junk” DNA. You guys are really 'out of this world'. And I mean that in a good way! I started my 'journey' when I clicked on one of Curtis's recordings and then found myself getting on his Swedenborg Live shows where I could ask questions about God and spirituality. It was during the pandemic when I was really feeling 'lost' and needed to hear something that would make me feel better about life and the world. That led me a year later to incorporate Alex's Next Level Soul podcast into my 'spiritual diet'. I owe a lot to both of you for helping me navigate through a world that I often have a hard time understanding. I know you both will keep doing everything you can to be an inspiration to people like me searching for answers both inside ourselves and in the world around us. I just loved that last 90 minutes and will keep it in my 'library' to go back to again.

Love your channel, and am also a huge fan of Off The Left Eye. The way Curtis breaks down Swedenborg’s books is masterful. Listening to his videos on the books has changed my inside life. When my dad passed in 2013 I started actively seeking answers (although I was always connected to something greater) I needed a way to comprehend it all that made sense, that was kind and inclusive. Swedenborg’s acquired knowledge, delivered through Curtis was the profound switch I needed. When my dad passed, and I saw him in his coffin, I absolutely knew we don’t die, that we simply transition. It was a profound knowingness that poured through me. I’ve never had that happen before with other loses. I can’t properly explain the feeling; it was a fact without explanation. I’ve since expanded this inner search to include other spiritual teachings, but still find great peace with Curtis Childs channel. Highly recommended.

Curtis rocks! So do you, Alex. My father is from a small town in the south of England. It's called Brightlingsea and is the home port of the Greenpeace ship. Brightlingsea has just one church and it's Swedenborgian. Swedenborg would not have wanted any churches built, and certainly not with his name attached, but I did learn about his teachings from a early age.

I'm a Christian Pastor, and I believe that when the body dies, even according to Jesus, we all become Angels. I also have experienced 5 NDE's due to a Cardiac and a Immune Disorder involving Systemic Failures. Due to these experiences, and my hearing GOD, I definately read Scripture differently than most Christians I know. I see the Spirituality that Jesus, and His followers were teaching, or learning. It has given me a different look at what His idea of a 'Church' is, truly... And I am heartbroken by much of what I see, and feel mankind has done to it.

I don’t know, you guys. I think that we really don’t know why we suffer. We exist here and we are struggling to figure out why we suffer. We are not told why. We come across ideas about suffering that we like to think - like the suffering has a purpose, maybe growth of our spirit. But we really don’t know. Are these ideas our own defense mechanisms in response to our undesirable natural reality, or is the suffering really purposeful? We don’t know. One thing I, personally, cling to, is that the ONLY thing that matters is love and kindness. That is my deepest sense. Or it could be just what I like to think that seems the most loving and wonderful to me. And I have some agency in our world, so I have some power to make that idea happen. So, it has some value at least in that regard. If you could multiply that idea onto many people, then we could have a real chance to create a world more like that.

I don't know how I got this far into my journey without hearing about Swedenborg! I am a psychic medium and this theory is the closest to my understanding of the afterlife. I don't think any of us can fully grasp the concept with our human minds but this makes so much sense and answers a lot of questions. I think this is a really comforting viewpoint too.

I remember when my daughter was going into public school for the first time (I homeschooled her up to that point but had to get a job to help support the family financially), anyway, I took her with to the 3rd grade open house and she was big eyes looking all around and one of the children there was having a meltdown... When we were leaving and walking out to the car she said Mommy what if I do or say something wrong??? I said if she were confronted with a situation always ask yourself if what you are about to do or say will make God smile. I think even adults should ask that same question through life. Choices....

Anyone who has ever seen The Princess Bride knows the concept "Who said Life is Fair? Where is it written?" ---Grandfather (Peter Falk) 😁 My husband, whom I adored, pass from cancer two years ago just before turning 60. Living through that pain and learning from the life we made together (and how I have changed from the selfish, obnoxious, undefined person I was) has brought me to the point where I want to arrange my life around usefulness (I really like how Curtis put that). I'm by no means rich or even 'comfortable', but I can now grasp that I don't have to be to effect positive change in others' lives.

That's amazing what Curtis said, I also in my teenager years had a strange thing where I'd have to tapp the ground 3 times or 5 times or 2 times every few steps as I walked to school, I felt if I didn't obey the compulsion to tap that something bad would happen to me. A mild form of being possessed by an entity/attachment I think.

My favorite school of thought is that the evolution of the soul happens both in the soul world and through physical reincarnation. Reincarnation is to face a challenge that helps us expedite a lesson that we then take with us into the soul world to continue unraveling and fully implement into our personal and collective evolution and growth. A secondary point that I just love: there is a specific aspect in astrology that shows us a particular person or thing that teaches us the greatest lessons about love by showing us exactly what love is not.
