Such a great set. As was so typical of the Marx playsets back then, the play value was almost beyond belief! Louis Marx knew what young boys (and a few girls probably!) loved. His overall edict to his playset developers was "put as much in these sets as we can". Always put in plenty of figures but the accessories! Cannons, horses, rocks, trees, the great tavern, rev war era furniture, flags. Just unbelievable. On this set just one minor quibble: only 6 poses of redcoats! Rare for Marx, usually did 8 to 10 poses (as he did for the colonials in this set). But, the poses were very well done for the redcoats, so I'm sure kids loved it. Besides, we kids usually added in a few Indian allies for the redcoats to even the odds!

I remember during Christmas Sears stores would convert the Lawn and Garden Dept into a huge toy store. Playsets, train sets, and race car sets were setup on large display boards

I'm 68 and you've opened up a whole new world to me. I think all your stuff is incredibly cool and fun. Been into vintage Lionel electric trains for 40 years, but now I would love to get into these playsets. Thanks for sharing.

Sweeet. Guy who lived behind me had a generic set, and I finally squeezed a standing firing Colonial out of him and have him to this day,

you could use the rocks as jello molds. with a little spray paint and a couple firecrackers added play value
