Reuniting the stars who made the movie A League Of Their Own | Like We Never Left | SNY

Спорт

On an all-new episode of Like We Never Left, SNY brings back the roster of the Rockford Peaches to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the movie A League Of Their Own. Oscar-winner Geena Davis, Lori Petty, Tracy Reiner, Bitty Schram, Megan Cavanagh and more of the women who made this special film get back together to share behind the scenes stories from making the movie.
The crew talks about playing real baseball, working with Madonna, seeing Tom Hanks cement one of the greatest movie quotes of all time, and pulling pranks on each other during production. The cast also discuss the effects the movie had on the women who played in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, and the inspiration it created for future female athletes.
About Like We Never Left:
What do we have to keep us connected? We have shared experiences and video conferencing. SNY combines these 2 things to create a content series that can resonate with New York sports fans during these unprecedented times.
'Like We Never Left' will reunite a group of people via video conference, a group of people who have a past connection through New York sports that we can take advantage of in the present. By seeing them together again, having them share stories, reveal secrets, and celebrate their history and fandom, we tap into the nostalgia and the thrill of these figures coming back to each other in an intimate and exclusive setting.

I thought the scene when Shirley was at the bulletin board was beautiful. Helen sprang up because she knew what was going on. That's sisterhood right there!

My favorite baseball movie. Seeing the current exhibition at the Baseball Hall of Fame, honoring not only Women in Baseball, but this movie, is breathtaking. Seeing Alta Weiss' uniform was a thrill.

I was a 12 year old boy who played and absolutely loved baseball and the first time I saw A League of Their Own I was mesmerized! I was a catcher so Dottie was my gal! All of these women were so amazing in this movie and I immediately had to know more about the women’s league! Before google mind you! I went to the library and learned all that I could! As far as the ball drop…Dottie didn’t drop it on purpose not did Kit knock it loose. The ball had to be dropped so the baseball gods, as they always do, made sure the outcome that had to happed did in fact happen. Dottie was done, she was going home with her husband and was sure in that decision, Kit had greatness inside her and needed it to come out before she went on to play and become the best she could be and to get herself out of the shadow of her sister. The ball was dropped bc that’s what HAD to happen! That’s just how baseball works!

Let's not forget the reason there was Women's baseball in the first place- WW2. We were reminded of that when Betty got the telegram about her husband, AND when Bob came back and Dottie cried on seeing him.

I'm surprised that we still do not have a professional women's baseball league. We have professional women's soccer, basketball, but no baseball? We already did, at one time- but even after this film, even with the recent TV show, this isn't a thing yet?

I was living in L.A. where I working in the film industry for years, I moved back to my hometown area of Evansville Indiana in 1993 where a lot of the film was shot. Of all the films I worked on in L.A. I missed working on my favorite one shot in the place where I still live now. I'm happy that the (Racine Bell) Bosse field stadium here still looks the same from the film.

Precisely three days ago was the thirtieth anniversary of the original release of the Penny Marshall film 'A League of Their Own.' I even like to watch the film - 'Ellas Dan el Golpe' - dubbed in Castilian Spanish (Spain) through a Russian bootleg video streaming site.

We see Dottie, Kit, Marla, Betty Spaghetti, Shirley, Helen, Evelyn but Patti Pelton as Marbleleen, we never see her! Renee Coleman as Alice Gaspers, we love her and it's funny the picture when she shows her bruise in the leg!

What the heck. Let's have a ceremony for the cast at the National Baseball Hall Of Fame. I'm sure it wasn't easy for some of these actresses. My favorite was Alice, the backup catcher. She was the girl who got that raspberry on her thigh.
