R.E.M.'s Shiny Happy People was as well used during the beginning of a 2008 live action family dog movie "Marley and Me" starring Owen Wilson and Friends TV Sitcom alum Jennifer Aniston!

This was a perfect song for the Grey's Anatomy episode

This song, is “actually” about the Chinese government, clamping down on the student demonstrators, and the hundreds of people that were killed in Tiananmen Square. Not “really” a happy song, if you look it up.😓. Song was released a couple years after it happened in China. “Shiny Happy People” was taken from the Chinese propaganda posters that were being used, to con the world into believing something very different was going on.
