Crazy how the show went from 2 kids having a mystery solving summer to an apocalypse

Being there as it aired honestly felt special. Seeing fan theories like gompers being Bill because hes yellow and has weird goat eyes to my own Robbie zombie theory. It was so much fun to watch new episodes at sleepovers and theorize after

My gf thinks I’m INSANE for putting gravity falls up there with ATLA as two of the greatest cartoons ever made. Not only that but I doubled down and said they are both in the same tier as some of the best SHOWS ever made be it live action or animated. Gravity falls holds such a special place in my heart. You just had to be there while it was airing. It was something so special in time. I will die on this hill and she calls me crazy. IM NOT CRAZY

I wasn't there at the time of airing (due to living in Australia and not having cable tv) but I agree 100% that it is on the same level as ATLA

i still feel like i can’t ever rewatch this show fully because it’ll make me too sad. i grew up alongside it and it was such a huge part of my life that i vividly remember what reactions i had before and after each episode came out. the way it brought people together online to solve the clues was so fun too. i don’t know if there will be another show like it again with the death of cable. glad it’s still holding up after a decade :)

I’m not even able to comprehend the fact that this show ended 6 years ago.

i was TERRIFIED of the summerween monster as a kid n honestly it’ll still give me the spooks while driving home late at night every once in a while loll, i really appreciate all the hard work you clearly put into this video and love how you included the ads!!

I love how this show went from a fun pastime for me too me becoming a full time code breaker learning every cypher there is

Why yes i will watch another gravity falls retrospective why not

But for the cyphers did you have to put that audio for every single one 😭. I put this on while working and that whole section I was like what is this. (Also I haven’t seen the show so maybe it’s relevant please feel free to explain) but for like 10 minutes or however long that section is to hear that audio repeating was a little annoying. Other than that great work on the video you can tell there was just so much effort put into it. Amazing job!

So, instead of actually saying the cipher, which would’ve required a lot of reversing audio, I decided to include that snippet, as it’s taken from when Gideon summons Bill Cipher for the first time. So I thought it was appropriate. However, I tried to use it less as the video went on because I was worried it was too tedious. Turns out I was right. So I apologize. Thank you for watching though, glad you enjoyed the video.

Gravity Falls is my favorite cartoon series of all time, so finding this video on my recommended and seeing the time also was such a nice surprise 😊 Best thing to listen in the background while working. Thank you for all the hard work you've put into making it!

I remember the baby shaking hands! People were unsure whether they should shake it's hand or not, so they did the baby because if a contract was made, it wouldn't be enforceable ;) (we all knew that there was no contract but we were all riding the treasure hunt high)

(Well, online anyway) I was following a lot of it on twitter/people's live streams/etc. If you check TV tropes/funny for the treasure hunt, I'm the one that added in the bit on Jason Ritter's expression when he saw the puzzle pieces. If I remember correctly Ritter was in the area for some other reason so decided to tag along. When the puzzle was found people thought he should see it first. Unfortunately I couldn't contribute too much - I'm slow at puzzles and people just... figured them out all instantly - but it was SO MUCH FUN in that time. I was also on tumblr when the Stan's Twin theory started getting passed around! The glasses in the room were a different shape, and Stan was so... melancholy while he looked at them that people figured out about 80% of it right then and there. It was pretty much confirmed after Dream Scaperers where we got our first glimpses of Ford... or rather, kid reading a book in a boxing class being the only person wearing boxing gloves that conspicuously hide his fingers.

Wow, this video is insane. I only watched Gravity Falls last year, and ever since then, there have been so many questions that I've been asking, and you somehow shed some light on all of them. This show will always be one of my favorites. This was an awesome video. Keep up the great work. 😊

I followed Gravity Falls pretty closely as it aired, so it was great to relive those four years! Took me a few weeks to chip away at the video's chapters, but it was worth it! The biggest surprise for me was learning just how much the crew *didn't* have planned ahead of time, and just made the calls as they went. Great video! Looking forward to the Book of Bill! As an aside, I loved the few lines in there that you voice acted - added a good touch of flavour & personality to it!

Yeah… I was having difficulty with the cryptograms section as a whole, so using that helped ease that process a bit, but in retrospect, I probably could’ve done something else. Tried to use less of it as the video went on, but… Thanks for watching regardless.

i love this video very much and your effort and passion will not go unappreciated or unoticed, this long and intricate of a piece is the prime example of what i want to fall asleep or clean to, the only thing i have to mention is that repeating sound of someone talking (i think it’s the officer) when you’re deciphering the cryptogram, it’s a little irritating while trying to close my eyes😭😅

This is a great retrospective, but the overuse of the backwards Gideon sound clip is OBNOXIOUS. It was very clever the first time, then okay by the third, then just completely annoying as it went on. Otherwise wonderful and detailed retrospective.

Yeah, in hindsight, I wish I had come up with something else for those parts. I tried to use it less as the video went on, because I feared it was too repetitive, but clearly the damage was done by that point. So yeah, I apologize for that.

Did someone ever told you, you look like the Postal Dude... anyhow this show is the only one i wish i had interacted whit fandoms, teories and all that jazz when it air, heck even now as an old geezer i barlley do the minimin but as a kid, jess,nah i was to scare of the internet for that But now i wish i was more active back then, i did follow and trow some teories here and there in Adventure Time and Rick & Morty but as mutch as love those shows, they didnt go to the level Gravity Falls did I wonder if i would have know the twins plot twist since here in Colombia that air some months later and by that the plot was spoil, oh but on that note, hehe Stan visiting here for some certify fresh flour is something i never saw coming, little Colombian fact, the army dosent use flags in there arms but the gerrillas do, so yeah a Disney character was kipnap by a teroris group, hey theres a theory for ya Preaty cool video, Jorge y Rico estarian orgullosos

I respectfully disagree, seeing all the old advertisements for each episode really brought me back. I’m glad they’re there.
