RETURN to the ABANDONED Six Flags New Orleans
In 2011, I was one of the earliest explorers to document the ruins of the legendary Six Flags New Orleans theme park. I returned in April 2022 to relive the experience.

B I O G R A P H Y
Chris Luckhardt has documented and photographed some of the most iconic and viral images of abandoned places around the world. He was among the first photographers to publish photos in the press from legendary abandoned places like Hashima Island, Nara Dreamland, Michigan Central Station, and Six Flags New Orleans. His body of work has led to interviews and collaborations with The White House, Netflix, Ford, GQ China, ABC News, Good Morning America, Scholastic Canada, Yahoo Japan, and many more. In 2016, the Obama administration invited Chris to photograph a private citizen "haunted" tour of The White House.

Another phenomenal video. I love that you let us hear the atmospheric/ambient noise of birds, insects, branches cracking, and traffic instead of overdubbing some crappy music or inserting a bunch of narration. It really adds to the immersive effect of your work. Thanks for taking the risks and sharing with us!

Thanks so much! Six Flags was one of my favourite places to explore, so I wanted to return and share an immersive video in this style. Hopefully others can enjoy and appreciate it in the same way when viewing the video!
Crazy to think I've been following this park since about 2011 and in 2022 it's still abandoned with nature doing it's best to reclaim it. A shame because Mega Zeph looks like one of the better woodies out there.
I have many fond memories of this place from birthdays and holiday trips with family. Thank you for preserving it in such a way, it really is quite something to see these places again in this condition with such vivid memories of them playing in stereo. Keep up the beautiful work my guy

Thanks for watching, and for the comment about the audio quality. I try to produce my videos so they'll be as immersive as possible for the viewer.
Man this was awesome. The camera work is incredible and you got footage of spots I haven’t seen before. I’ve been up to the property a few times but always would spot security. Hopefully I’ll make it in one day. I feel like we’re on borrowed time with this place still being around but personally I hope it stays up forever 🖤

So cool - happy you saw some new spots via the video! And I appreciate the camera work feedback! It’s a new format that I hoped would be a more immersive experience for viewers.
I love abandoned theme parks! My favourite scenes were the roller coaster track filled with dried leaves and the pizza sign ^^ Next on the agenda: Alligator spotting.

The leaf coverage looked so post-apocalyptic! I didn’t see any alligators but they were out there looking for a meal. 👀
Hi from Toronto Canada 🇨🇦. Really enjoyed your video of this dump. I find it fascinating. Lots of tree damage from Ida. I watched the Proper People's video. Guard was a real jerk too. Can't build anything here. It's a swamp. Great drone footage. First one I've seen in quite a awhile. Great video. Again, really enjoyed it. Thanks.

yep its shot,its time for them to level the place i think.
I bet the park may just sit the way it is for a long long time if not remain like this!! How many development groups have said already that they were gonna transform the park into something big and spectacular and all that plans and dreams just fell through!! The longer they wait the more the park rots and the more and more expensive it becomes to remove everything and clean up the whole park to make it even a close candidate to develop the land!! Must be making money off of the lies or something!! The City of New Orleans!!

Not lies, our wonderful politicians would just rather pocket the money instead for whatever lame brain scheme they want to fund(like going after librarians because they put out lgbt books during pride or international trips for our useless mayor.) the fund city of New Orleans indeed/s!
I have to say your camera work is top notch. I watch so many of these videos (especially on Six Flags) and your coverage was phenomenal. You also covered areas that others haven't! Good stuff

Jeff, that's very kind of you to say. Thanks! I changed my format recently by dropping the intros and voiceovers and filming in a more immersive style. Hopefully it's a better viewing experience for everyone.

@@jeffcicale Thanks for the positive feedback on the new format. I hope to be a big dog one day haha!
This kinda brought a tear to my eye. I went on several cool dates here in the early 2000’s. It was so much cooler and unique when it was Jazzland, in my opinion. I didn’t like it as much when it became Six Flags. It was so lively, and I shared a kiss or two with my beau in some of those very spots you explored! Oh to be 20 again!

Can you believe that audio is almost directly from a DJI Pocket 2? I did minimal audio engineering in Logic to get it ready to publish. Remarkable device!

Does anyone know how high concentration of mold is in that park? I know it is a stupid question but I am just curious
@chrisluckhardt
Жыл бұрын
I’m not sure about the concentration but New Orleans is very humid so mold is in every building.

Several movies were filmed at Six Flags but I don’t recall a proper horror/slasher amongst them. Seems like a perfect setting!
are they ever going to demolish this area,God all mighty,it looks like something out of left for dead video games
@chrisluckhardt
Жыл бұрын
I'm guessing everything will be demolished if development ever gets beyond the current bureaucratic hurdles. Bayou Phoenix continues to wait on the city to process a series of agreements so they can begin development.
