It’s the uncanny valley effect. The original Ramses was in a radically different style of animation compared to the rest of the cartoon in the original version. Eustace looks scary because he is still easily identifiable but in a style of animation alien to what we have come to expect in the recreation.

If you think about it, this is extremely polite for an ancient ghost to do. When it come to curses from graverobbing its kind of an instant thing. You grave rob from an ancient tomb, boom, you're cursed. My boy here, on the other hand, gave em a visit and said "hey, you took my slab, I get it, kinda sucks though, can't have people takin my slabs. So, ya know, kinda put it back or ima have to do something about it alright?"

I knew that was the proper lyrics. But as a kid for ages I had thought they were singing KING RAAAMSES...THE MANGOES, THE MANGOES! and I was stumped as to why they said anything about fruit. Then later on, I went on to think oh, it's not those words, its "THE MAD GODS, THE MAD GODS!..." Not really a great fit either into the story, but it also made somewhat a bit of sense.

Surprisingly, not as childhood traumatizing as the original. Stil, nice job

Honestly this might be the one episode you can’t make more terrifying by making it realistic. Something about the art and animation of the original has stuck with me for almost 30 years and it’s pretty much the only episode of courage the cowardly dog I remember vividly other than the one with the eating contest against the fly person.

What really throws you off about this is that later on he facepalms cause Eustace is so stubborn. He just says "Come onnnnn" like just give it back already so i can go back to sleep 😂😂😂

Eustace actually looks creepier than Ramses in this version.

The irony in this animation is that now Eustace is the one that looks super uncanny.

Honestly Ramses is a real one for going all the way to this random house to warn them multiple times. It's HIS rest that was disturbed. Most ghosts would just start haunting without mercy.

That episode legit scared tf outta me when I was little

It took me years of therapy and years of adulting to finally rid myself of the nightmares this episode gave me. Now you've gone and done something like this.

Something I appreciate about this is that the way we just saw him swaying in the cartoon just seemed like a way to make him creepy for the sake of being creepy. In this animation it seems more like the spirit of Ramses trying to maintain control of his desiccated corpse like a marionette or somebody unfamiliar with how to use their limbs.

No matter what episodes dropped or what else I watched, nothing gave me more nightmares as a kid than Ramses

Dude I just overcame this childhood trauma and NOW you've brought it back! But, I'll give ya a like, sheesh...the things we do for love

My best friend got a hold of my phone one time and set this sound as my alarm to go off at midnight. I was sleeping and woke up in cold sweat with a mild heart attack from the alarm going off… What makes it even worse!! I couldn’t go back to sleep so I went to watch tv and THIS EXACT SCENE WAS PLAYING when I turned the TV on! It was rough night. 😭😭

Instead of getting scared I was like, "oooooooh", when the mummy guy came out. This is one of the most disturbing things I've seen in the series and to see it like this is actually impressive.

That was my dad's favourite TV show. We used to watch it together and laugh so much. Keep up the good work. Although my father won't be able to watch it, it would be nice to watch it with my kids. Well, when I get married and have one.
