The city slum, ending theme & boss theme are awesome!

If the order of the music would go according to this then people would only love the game more since the greater songs would come later into the game. after 20+ years i still listen to this soundtrack, amazing job to the composers!

A friend and I did a play through of Return of Double Dragon, using Game Genie codes to rearrange the soundtrack into more appropriate spots. Levels 4 and 6 now have their intended music in the right places, while we changed the music for levels 2 and 7 to different ones (Level 7 uses the Duke Theme). The music used for the airport was supposed to be used in Part 2 of Level 7, but we couldn't program it to work there, so we left that out. Because of Technos going out of business, as many people know, many of these tracks didn't make it to the final product. But not only that, it's obvious that the music in the game was rushed when compressed, as most of the tracks sound VERY lackluster compared to these. Duke's music here sounds incredible, yet the actual music in the Japanese game's sound test menu sounds awful. I would LOVE for somebody to create a hack of this game, compressing the music and putting them in their proper places, and also try to expand the game the way that was intended, like the cutscenes, the stage hazards in Mission 2, and the lost second half of Mission 6... Those would be amazing to see.

The unused Airport theme is my favorite track as that should've been in the game. With just the cover art alone, and what they were planning to add in the game had there been more time, we probably would have seen something even better, as to what this one guy, Patricio Herrera is trying to do with an OpenBOR game called "Legend of Double Dragon". For all we know, this could've been made into a 90s action anime. Excellent, this tape is.

Mission 6 Forest is the best song of this game.

Feels more robust and 3 dimensional, like I've actually spent a couple hours in an arcade.

Duke's Theme sounds a bit like Mega Man 7 boss music

Remains me of a movie soundtrack.

Did the Famicom boast a better sound chip or something? I feel like the Japanese version is better than the one we got.

These songs are from the original sessions when the game was first being developed. The final version of the SNES game axed a few songs and switched the rest around.
