Retroarch running on Apple TV 4K (official from App Store)

Ойындар

So retroarch is officially on the Apple App Store now and so I wanted to give it a try. In this video I play Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 on the FBneo core and Super Mario All-Stars on the bsnes core. I was using the Nimbus bluetooth controller connect to the Apple TV

Uploading files to the tvOS version is really frustrating as you cannot upload folders. So if you have a nested set of folders and files, it only copies the files at the same level.

Any particular settings you have? I’ve tried super Mario all stars on an Apple TV 4K and it isn’t this smooth.

used SNES core bsnes-hd and set the resolution to 1x (I think by default its like 2x) in the core settings, other than that I think it's the default settings. Also this is Apple TV 4K 2nd gen (2022) (Apple A12 chip)

    1) Upload games by going to the address shown when you start it with a browser on a computer and upload your roms to RetroArch/Downloads, then find retroarch.cfg in RetroArch/config and download it to your computer, change the line: rgui_browser_directory = "~/Library/Caches/RetroArch/" from whatever value it was before and re-upload it to the same place (delete the existing one first). Then in retroarch go to Scan Directory and scan the folder where you just uploaded your roms. 2) Change the UI to look like PSP (XMB) Go to Settings>User Interface Scroll to the bottom until you find the ‘Menu’ item. Change Menu from ozone to xmb. Back out until you come to the Main Menu and select it Go to Configuration File Select ‘Save Current Configuration’ to ensure the menu change sticks. Force close Retroarch and reopen it. New menu activated.

The big problem you’re going to encounter is that you can only upload files, not folders. This is a problem with the BIOS and support files for MAME, which are dozens of nested folders and files. If you drag a folder with other folders and files onto that upload window, it will just dump all of the files into the root directory! 😢 So, for now, you have to create each and every folder manually, and copy the files into each, which can be tedious. The iOS/iPad OS version doesn’t have this problem because you can use the Files app to copy content into the Retroarch folder.

@@happyspaceinvader508bro, you have to upload the roms as zip files. If you have extracted all of your roms, and don't have any of them as zip files. Redownload all of your roms again, and keep them all zipped, all re-up them to Apple TV Retroarch.

didn't try, but N64 emulation will be slow on ATV since that RetroArch core uses JIT which is not allowed on iOS devices, so all cores that use it will be slow.
