Big fan of this TV show and toy line. Especially MEGO and ERTL die-cast vehicles. This was must watch TV in early 80's for southern families. 1st 3 seasons for me was the pinnacle. General Lee chases, comedy of Rosco and Boss Hogg. The General Lee was the star of the show. This toy line was huge back in the day. Awesome job for this retro Wednesday and a little trip down memory lane with this iconic TV show and toy line. Thanks Mike.

I'm a big fan of this line and the 8" line too, even though there are only 4 characters and no vehicles in that line. In fact, I repurchased both Mego lines in their entirety with the exception of the 3" Daisy figure. She's proven to be pretty hard to track down. I absolutely loved the die-cast ERTL vehicles as well. I had a boxed set with 5 or six vehicles and a cardboard Hazzard County. I spent a lot of time playing with that, combining it with my Hot Wheels City. I plan on tracking that set down, for a decent price, one day.

The Ertl diecasts have at least several different versions. The tricky part is where the grill connected to the front of the car.

The GIJoe construction was created by hasbro for the 12" line which was adopted by Takara for their henchen cyborg 12" line, later shrunken down to Microman which used the same body construction but at a 3 3/4 scale. That toy was licenced by Mego which is why they used it here even before GIJoe existed in 3 3/4. The originator of the body type is Hasbro even if Mego were first to use it at 3 3/4

I remember this show growing up. The car chases were the highlight along with the comical characters. Boss Hog, the actor passed away at age 64 before they could finish the TV movie reunions of the early 1990s. There is also an animated Hanna Barbera Dukes TV series on DVD. One of my favorite shows as a kid. I had all the mego stuff 3 3/4 in and 8in. My crown jewel was my dukes big wheel. I have a bunch of pics from 81 82 of me riding the hell out of it

I'm still a big fan of both sets of Mego Dukes figures. I'm very proud to have them in my toy collection today. One of my best friends had that Dukes big wheel and I was so jealous! 😁 That spin action was awesome!

@@tydiriumhanger1320 I had one new as a kid. I was always disappointed that the mold was completely different than the Dodge Monacos and Plymouth Furys used on the show. Still have one or both of the doors but the car itself is long gone.

I had so many variations of that Gay toy model, including the General Lee here. Probably my favorite toy car as a kid. Haha

Great job with this video regarding the Mego Dukes of Hazzard toy collection. I thought I'd share my thoughts on this collection. With the exception of the Gay Toys General Lee knockoff (which I'm glad I never got), I had and currently have most if not all of the figures and vehicles. When it comes to the 2 variants of Bo Duke, I feel the opposite about which figure is the Coy variant. As a kid in early 1981, I remember getting the General Lee with Bo and Luke Duke. The first release were the smaller head figures, and I feel they resemble Tom Wopat and John Schneider. The larger head variants came out in 1982 and they were my choices for Coy and Vance. But to be fair, the larger headed Bo looks like he could resemble John Schneider or Byron Cherry. But you do not have the variant Luke. In your video, you have 2 of the original Luke figures, but not the one that looks more like Christopher Mayer. A friend of mine did a head swap on my Coy and Vance figures since Coy wore the blue shirt and Vance wore the yellow shirt. I had the Gay Toys Dixie Jeep as a kid, but eventually lost it. But then again, I didn't have the actual Mego Dixie Jeep with Daisy Duke until my adult years. I never knew there was a brown haired & brown bearded variant of Uncle Jesse, though I have seen that figure on ebay. Cooter was a great figure, but he never wore brown pants. I would have to do some repainting there. Other than the yellowing suit, the Mego Boss Hogg figure had the problem of the hat not wanting to stay on the head. As a kid, I wanted the Mego Boss Hogg Caddy with Boss Hogg, but I never found it as a kid, and now I know why. Boss and his Caddy were only sold in Canada!! I was lucky to buy one in the 90's via Toyshop Magazine. Good thing too, because it costs a fortune today. I recall seeing a prototype of Rosco and he actually had the right style sheriff's hat, but unfortunately, Mego decided to give Rosco a removable deputy hat instead. And to add insult to injury, I discovered that Mego did make or planned to make the actual model of the Hazzard Police Chase Car, but unfortunately, they decided to use the 50's model Chevy recycled from their CB McHaul line. I actually saw the original Mego Hazzard Police Car on ebay, but the asking price is $2,500.00!!! The only thing I don't like about the Caddy is that the doors don't open and it's hard to fit a figure in the backseat. For collection pics, I've placed the G.I.JOE Wild Bill figure in the driver's seat to double as Boss Hogg's chauffuer. For the Cletus figures, I've discovered that if you were to paint the brown hair black or darker brown, and because of the slender build, Cletus can be passed off as Enos, especially since the deputy hat is molded on. And if you were to get 2 Hazzard Police Chase cars, you will have a car for Rosco and a car for Cletus (or Enos). On a sad note: while the Mego 8 inch line of the Dukes of Hazzard is sorely incomplete, this small figures & vehicles line is also missing a couple of items. I wish Mego could have made the Duke Family Pick Up with Uncle Jesse, and Cooter's Tow Truck with Cooter. Both trucks would have opening doors and would fit three figures, and Cooter's tow truck could have included a wench for hauling one of the other vehicles. I saw a pic where Mego had planned a Cooter's Garage playset, but it never was made. As I said earlier, I never had the Gay Toys General Lee, but with repainting, the model of that car would have been Daisy's yellow Road Runner car, but then again, that car was not designed to fit figures in them. But anyway, those are my thoughts on the small sized Dukes of Hazzard figures and vehicles collection. I am a huge fan of the Dukes of Hazzard TV series and Mego toyline.

Loved this show as a kid. Reckon it got me hooked on bluegrass, not a lot of exposure in Tasmania, Australia. Even bought a souvenir General Lee hat in Covington, Georgia where the first season was filmed. I'm interested in rewatching a few episodes for nostalgia, but I know the A-Team and Knight RIder and other shows of the day tend to be less cool and more formulaic than they seemed. That one guy in the neighbourhood with the Dixie car-horn was the coolest guy in town lol But now all I want is a Transformers crossover toy and that's my fandom itch scratched.

@@tydiriumhanger1320 Yeah, surely it wouldn't be too much to retool a Transformers Prime Cliffjumper from a Challenger to a Charger. Has there been anything else closer that could be repurposed? Not a car girl. Mikaela Banes wouldn't be impressed lol

I can remember getting these toys for Christmas of 1981 and being so disappointed when I unwrapped the Hazzard County Sheriff car. We ordered the toys directly from the Sears catalog and the picture of the car was the same as the General Lee, but it was painted white with a red/blue light bar on top. What was delivered instead was a 1956 Chevy Bel Air painted white with a small red cherry light on top. I really liked police cars and this one was a real let-down for me.

The MEGO general Lee looked like a mash up of a 69 and a 71 charger. But I played with that thing until the wheels (literally) fell off 😂

Like Chips , Knight Ryder, The A team this series love it I got several cars of different series General Lee is one of my 3 favorite cars next two Kitt and Ecto 1

Gay Toys also made a police cruiser. It was the same Charger body but in white plastic with a light bar that clipped onto the roof.

I loved it!! Plots and storylines were for children though…

I have been waiting to get into this toy line, was just wondering do the toys have peg holes in the feet to put them on stands?

I remember having a die cast general lee that came with bo and Luke that had the articulations of vintage gijoe. It also came with an all plastic ramp.

Oh my goodness the shorter hair daisy is a thing of nightmares. She looks like Sarah Jessica Parker. Maybe they should reuse the mold and sell "Sex and the city" dolls. They can use Scarlet as the Miranda, Bespin Leia as the Charlotte and covergirl as the Samantha. Each figure comes with their own credit card and bottle of vodka, emotional baggage sold seperatly.

Is their another version of the mego general Lee? The only reason I'm asking is because I've seen some with crome and some with grey plastic on the bumper and fender. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it supposed to be black in the bumper and fender if the Chrome is worn out ? Not grey plastic like I've seen on some ?

I remembered, as soon as I saw that Boss Hog car, the time I ruined a birthday party by applying logic. As a kid I reasoned with another kid, whose birthday was that day, that he could open his birthday presents before his party. His mother lost it when she got home, we weren't allowed playing anymore after that day. It's funny now.

The dark haired Uncle Jesse is not a Duke release. The mold was used from a completely different toy line. It was not packaged as from the Dukes

There was actually a coy and Vance 33/4 figures they had different shirt color and had coy and Vance stickers over bo and luke on the cards. The brown beard Jessie is not Jessie he is a figure from some other toy line

Radio shack had hot wheels scale general Lee with a track and a cop car to race against.

Why does the one General look like it has a bra on the front grill??

This would be better if the guy didn't feel insecure about being a Dukes of Hazzard fan, and have to knock it.

I remember those Gay toys Dukes cars the fake General Lee was a 1973 Charger I seen the fake General and the Jeep at K mart when I was young, the Mego General Lee was a cheesy toy, the Sheriff car was a disappointment it look nothing like the one from the series it did not made any sense that they recycled the police car from a past toy line to cut cost for molding.
