Well put My first Road bike was a 1989 3.0 Criterium…still have it along with a second…both getting rebuilds Have a 2005 Fuji Team SL (aluminum) but I eyeball every Cannondale I pass by….thinking that I’m still riding mine🤷🏻‍♂️

Forgive me Joe, it just popped into my head 😂….i have two older Cannondales, 1989 3.0 Criterium frames built up with Campy….im really considering a rim brake Super Six…It would be my first Carbon frame

@@michaelbonade4667 Are the ones you got aluminum? If so, yea, I would get that Carbon Super Six, it will ride way better. The only aluminum bikes I ever enjoyed were mountain bikes with front suspension. I pretty much only ride vintage Columbus SL and SLX bikes. Dream like smooth ride.

Isn’t it amazing how we spend so much time and money on headsets yet they will never turn a revolution, 20yr tour mech I love to see the young lads do this, well done you. Ps, always put the bike on the floor to tighten and align your wheels so they are fully engaged. We always used to tape the bars down to avoid using tape.

9:15, ah, you see, the thing about Mavic wheels is that they've been using road 11 speed spacing long before it became a standard. If you remove the spacer that was on the freehub body behind the cassette, you can fit a standard 11 speed road cassette with no issue. It’s one of the reasons I've been a fan of Mavic wheels for my vintage road bike restomods.

I forgot to say, the Ksyriums are over 20 years old now and I dont recall ever having to true them. Wonderful wheels.

Always a good idea to rebuilt old Cannondale frames. I like your decision to built with 1x10. For 2 of my bikes I used it too. Tiagra/105/GRX looks homogenic. And not that expensive as 11 or 12 groups. Freehub compatible😀👍

Yeah the old USA ‘dales are really good for sure! Glad you understood my decision with the mish mash of shimano groupset components, it was trying to explain it in a rush in the video and was worried it didn’t make sense.

Nice one Moz, but do plan to replace the truly awful Mavic hubs with something good when you can. Just keep your eyes peeled. Last week I found an absolutely mint, unmarked set of DT Swiss PR1400 Oxic 23mm rim profile on 36 ratchet 240S hubs, $440 Aussie, with a very new looking Dura Ace cassette & ditto Schwalbe Pro One tyres on. BTW, CAAD 3s, (1997) are the absolute peak frame, 4s on have the silly cut out at the drop outs that break the frame. In my collection I have 2 CAAD 3s. My commuter is an R300 now on full Dura Ace 7800 with 7900 C24s & ultra light everything else. My roadie is an R1000 on full D/A 7700.with 9100 C24s, & I love them both.

Hi. You can use Shimano hg700 or hg800 11 speed casettes on 10 speed freehub bodies. Shimano made them specifically for that. I have exactly this setup on some older wheels.

I have had a set of Mavic Ksyrium Elite wheels that I've had on my Cannondale XS800 for 20 years. The wheels and. The wheels and the bike are still going strong, albeit as a 1x these days.

Nice build and great bike🤟🏻. my project for the winter is also a hillclimb bike. I use a storck scenario with tune wheelset and a 10 speed campagnolo record. My Goal is 6.5kg.

Ahh i need to make mine a little lighter, its about 7.6kg as it currently stands. Maybe a project for the spring.

Really luv the slight downward sloping top tube. Absolute opposite to the "one size fits all, looks like a girl's bike" slopes they're doing to bikes these days.

Where did you get the shims to convert to 1 1/8" ?

The bike looks beautiful! Did you consider facing the BB shell? It look like one side had a lot of paint?

I don’t have a facing tool, bloody expensive for a very occasional use item for a hobbyist.

Nice. I have a 1994 Cannondale R300 that has original drivetrain and is in good shape. Is it possible to pair a 8 speed or higher cassette with down tube shifters?

Oh I have very limited experience with down tube shifters. If they are indexed I don’t think it’ll work. But I suspect if they are friction or switchable between index and friction I suspect in friction mode you might be able to get something to work with 8 speed. Could be worth chasing up with someone more experienced with downtube shifter than myself though.

you can put 10 speeds cassette. with the friction downtube shifters. i put on my cannondale r300 year 1993 10 speeds cassette. I put fulcrum racing T wheels.
