What a joy to work on a rim brake, non-electronic, exposed cable bike.

what a great looking bike, no carbon fibre wheels, no electric power, just a good old-fashioned bike as we all had back in the day, bikes are freedom, it's the first thing that takes you on adventures when you get one for Xmas as a kid, It's like a man getting an expedition vehicle, same effect,

Its a terrible bike with a throwaway aluminum frame! 10Y of stress cycles everyday and the owner will have to toss it when it gets stress cracks!
Some people might like to watch Gee Milner put together the latest and greatest and very expensive bikes, but me I much rather watch you service and restore the bikes that enter your shop. The care and attention you show to the bikes that come into your shop are the touches that I really enjoy.
You sound sick. Get well soon. Happy new year from Switzerland

I'm guessing this is a 2015 or so, specced to come in under £1k and therefore a bike-to-work bike. Amazing what that sort of money bought then, a really solid performer. Not normally one for a green bike, but this one is a beauty. Thanks, as ever, for the immaculate work.

checked the Giant website here in Taiwan, for under £1k you could buy a Giant CONTEND SL DISC 1, aluminum frame, carbon fork, disc brake, 105 components but crank downgraded to non series FC-RS520.

Considering inflation, you can get a Contend AR from Giant today for £1150 with disc brakes, tiagra crank and carbon fork. Bikes are still affordable, it's just that inflation has gone mad and UK incomes have stagnated

Can you do a bit more of an indepth on how you wash a bike? I can't seem to get the mix of water you use to have it clean, but not dripping (and usually end up filling a bucket just to get it to work). It'd also be interesting to hear what parts you focus on, and where people often miss while cleaning. Thanks for the vids!

Love to see your work! Especially as someone who does the same kind of work in Germany, Hamburg! 2 Questions i have: How do you operate the Ultrasonic Cleaner? My current way to go is: Filling it up halfway with water, then adding the other half with kettle boiled water (no need to wait for heating), putting the parts with a citrus cleaner/water mix in a zip bag and put that in the US Cleaner. 2. I think it would be very interesting so know what the prices are at the end of the video, so that potential customers know what to expect. I noticed that it sets a hurdle when people have to ask for an offer to see the prices. Cheers!

Hi we use a diluted degreaser in the same and put them straight in, we don’t at all share our pricing online. We are a small bike shop that’s services our local community and if our customers want us they know where to find us, these videos are not for advertising in that sense. When you torque up the saddle bolts you’re changing the saddle angle. Do you try to do anything behind the scenes to match the angle that was there before?
@Bikespeeds
5 ай бұрын
The bolts should have been torqued originally which is to say they’ve sagged down from where they should be anyway🧡
Have you considered wearing some nitrile gloves? Saving your skin in the process? I was a bike mechanic back in the day (I still do all my own work on my stuff and friends bikes) and I can't imagine not wearing gloves.
About time I cleaned and oiled the chain on my MTB. Hardly rode it last year as I was looking after dad. It was stored in the sun lounge (north facing) so no real heat but it's covered in cat fur. What would you suggest I order from your products?

We love the big softy brush and live by the sprays day to day, you need some towels with the sprays but may already have those. Big softy for frame, sprays for work, and lubricants for lubricating, that’s almost everything you could ever need 🧡

Doesn't the stem bearing have to be adjusted, after all those screws have been loosened at once to align the logos? (no doubt you can easily do that, but it wasn't shown on camera and you say "it takes no time". Hence I'm wondering.)
