Would have been nice to show how he built the wooden box. I need to know how to secure the gate to my metal railings

Hi -- You can use a simple 2x4 board and attach that to your metal railing with straps or clamps. The Retract-A-Gate brackets would mount directly onto the board. Send us an email at info@SmartRetract.com and we'll provide you more specs. Thanks!

In a time of big box stores and products being made quickly and cheaply from places you can't pronounce, it's assuring to know that a local, community-minded, family business is here for you, producing high quality retractable products to keep your family safe. Questions? Call us! We'll answer the phone and provide a solution. That's not the case with cheaper knock-off products. info@SmartRetract.com, 877-588-2530. 👍

Nice job. I probably would have painted the wood white to blend in. I don't think zip ties would have held the two boards together.

Cool box, but why not use zip ties or velcro instead?! This is kind of overkill.
