Hmmm I love the idea of buying my own apartment that needs to have work done on it internally. As l9ng as the outside of the building is ok, and the framing structure is solid and ok I can work with this. I have many years of experience in renovation work so this will be great for me. Great idea, fantastic information thank you so much for this.

Hi Olga, I am thinking in retiring in Ukraine. I have been to Ukraine four times, always in the summertime. I know Kiev, Lviv and Ternopil. I love Ukraine. I am from Brazil. My final decision to retire in Ukraine will be in december 2019, after my stay in ivano frankivsk. I hope I can stand the cold weather.

Maximum is 10,000 - (400 USD) Ukrainian hrivin for agency plus government fee. Pay no more. Some do for as little as 250 USD in smaller cities. You can rent a small office for very little to register a business.

I can say one thing I’ve never understood about visiting or living in places like Ukraine... is that I would have to pay much higher prices for things than locals do. And not by just a small margin. Sometimes it can be double and triple. When a foreigner visits anywhere here in the US, even poor areas, the price is the price. Doesn’t change based off your accent. That’d be like someone driving up in a Mercedes and because it looks like they’re rich, I charge them more for things. It’s a scam. Plain and simple. As much as I’d love to relocate to somewhere like Ukraine... it would be exhausting dealing with the never ending scams and attempts to separate me from my money like I’m some billionaire.

Why not Odessa? Fantastic place. My fantasy is to buy a small apartment near Shevchenko park and live there every September and October, and rent it out during the summer. Overall though, good advice. Based on your advice, I would buy a small house, and be registered in, Mishkovo-Pohorilove, which is just outside the city limits of Mykolaiv. Cheaper land tax than in Mykolaiv itself. Also Mykolaiv is a nice city too, by the way. But Odessa is far more cosmopolitan.

I understand why you recommended Kiev as the best place to live in Ukraine, because there is so much going on there. After Kiev you also mentioned Kharkiv and Lviv as maybe good cities to live in as a foreigner. But what about Odessa, Odessa is extremely popular with foreigners and it is also beautiful and next to the sea? Is there any reason why you didn't mention Odessa? Other big cities like Zaporizhia, Dnipro and even Poltava have many things going on there.

The smaller cities are nice too. Especially in the western areas where the Carpathian mountains are. Lviv is the best in my opinion. Dneper is really nice for an Eastern city. Odessa is too big and congested. A lot of people move to Western Ukraine from Odessa.

No kidding! Iv'e been to Odessa 9 times, and I even bought a flat/apartment out there too, in October of 2016. I'm going back in August. I visited Kiev back in December of 2008, and IMO, it sucked, even though, it had more beautiful women there, but Odessa has lots ,too. Odessa is the best summer city in all of Europe. The Black Sea keeps it calm. I'm going back in August, and it will be my 10th time there! DA!!!!

My dear sweet Olga what if you wanted to marry a Ukrainian woman what would you have to go through to be able to have residence or become a citizen since they don't offer citizenship in the Ukraine please reply

  • @-_-5070

    @-_-5070

    5 жыл бұрын

You have to go first as a tourist, pick a girl and go register your marriage ( you can register your marriage in one day with a special kind of agencies), after this you leave the country then come again and apply to the temporary residency wich lasts for one year, then after 1 year you need to renew it until you get the permanent residency ( so 2 years before you get the pr) and after getting the pr, you show the government that you're married to a Ukrainian girl plus you have the pr, this way you can apply for the citizenship that will take up to 2_3 years. Note that if you apply to the citizenship that doesn't mean you will get it. Regards from Arabian guy who's not racist, likes to help and cares for other communities.

It is also a lot friendlier and does not have the far right-wing militias so it is safer. Kiev is a beautiful city but it is a lot more expensive. Apartment prices are really depressed since so many citizens have escaped to Europe illegally or went to Russia to become citizens. The idea of buying is the best option because prices are low now and unless the country completely falls apart, its value should increase. Most regions have become really depressed and lack of upkeep has made many less desirable to live in. The city center of Kiev has been kept up so looks nice. Odessa actually has improved since the coup and looks nicer now than 5 years ago. Buying a small house in a village will be very cheap. Very! There is a general trend in all countries for city-bound migration. IF someone wants the quiet homestead with great quality land for modest farming, quiet village life and living independently, it can be a very attractive option. Even if you tire of country life, having the property and registration there, allows you to live anywhere without trying to find an apartment owner who will be willing to register you at their address. The reason they refuse 90% of the time is that their income from renting out their property becomes taxable income. A few rental companies will register you but they also charge full commercial property management rates. For those who want to start a business, there are more potential problems. As soon as someone believes you have some money, you are a target from underpaid and overly aggressive government officials, police, or local militias so creating a shell company, a corporation where you are removed from as many of the documents as possible will improve your safety. It IS the most corrupt country in Europe so the less people know about your status the better. Incomes are very low so all those high-end cars and high priced restaurants are common results of low paid officials tapping into as many people and business they can. Things might improve in the future so a small investment could, over the long haul, prove to be successful. The economy is stagnant and for the majority, living standards have dropped a lot compared to all the surrounding countries but if someone is savvy and keeps his business to himself and name off as many documents as possible they can do find. Those retiring from the US and on a pension or SS, they can live nicely on $1200 a month which is the average US SS payment.... but don't have it transferred to your bank in Ukraine, use the debit card program in the US so you can live without bringing a lump payment directly. ATMs are around so only withdraw what is needed that day or week. I moved out of the US in 2000 and thought about moving to Sebastopol in Crimea which as still controlled by Ukraine back then, or St Petersburg Russia and choose Russia because it was such a nice cultured highly educated society and started a few businesses on very little money. I never had to pa a bribe or have any uncomfortable situations, a very exciting safe, friendly place with great personal freedom and security. But the weather in Crimea is better so that could have been a very attractive alternative. If I had moved to Ukraine it would have been to the south along the Black Sea. Personally I think that either Ukraine or Russia are better options and have more personal freedom than in the US or anyplace in Europe. But you need to be an adaptable person who is creative and flexible, and if you are, there are many rewards. The people in both countries are friendly and make very loyal friends. As you know, the women and the interaction between men and women is much more pleasant. Most of friends in both countries are women and all my employees. So for me, the move was wonderful but I do not recommend it for most since they are not as life skilled or as flexible and are too set in their ways. For guys who are only interested in finding a better looking younger woman than they can find in their home country, they may be disappointed. It is not the 90s when many were desperate to get out and would go with even undesirable men who promised riches and easy life. Your best options are with women who know you best and have the most similar culture....which means your current neighbors not someone 7,000 miles away. Sure, there are lots of very attractive women but they also have traveled internationally and know they have vast options themselves, more than you do so keep expectations modest. Do not ignore women who have children....if you really love children and the responsibilities. You will always come second in the woman's life but you can still have an excellent relationship and life. Do not go on agency tours for girl hunts. Go and just live for 3-6 months and see how well the reality suits you. For me, as an avid traveler to 91 countries and have been to Ukraine and Russia a hundred times it was a no brainer, I felt more at home in either county than my native USA. I just clicked with it. I recommend investing the time to just go and live the normal life and deal with daily needs and see how attractive that is and if you fit in and are polite, open and friendly with something interesting to say, you will meet many women. Those going in 2-week marriage tours are wasting their time, that is a horrible way to find a society to live in or a partner. Remember, you are gaining a culture, not just a female, she would be part of that culture and what makes her attractive is being a product of, and an integral part of that culture. You about to her culture instead of having her become part of yours since anyone not happy with the options in their own society is in for real problems when trying to convert a foreign woman to the culture that makes all those around you back home undesirable. Don't ruin a fine woman from Ukraine or Russia by having her adopt the American or UK or wherever society that breeds such undesirable traits.. If you were happy with those traits you will be happiest where those traits are endemic to the society...where you are now. American women fit American culture better than anyone from another society. IF you find those traits undesirable go to live where you find the traits more compatible with yours.

  • @stanspb763

    @stanspb763

    4 жыл бұрын

Don't. Go visit for 3 months, not as a tourist but living in a local community going about life and then do it again. IF you are at all outgoing, polite, and have something interesting to say, you will meet many interesting women. If you are looking for someone who is age-appropriate you are in luck, there are millions of 45-60 year women who would love to find a good partner. Marriage agencies are not what you need, you need to see if you can adapt to the society and if YOU fit in. She already does but you need to test yourself to see if you can adopt the local society. IF you can, you will find many who had no interest in leaving and who would be a great life partner. Residency through marriage should not be the goal, there are ways of getting residency, but having it means you can take you time and let nature run its course and find someone for all the good reasons.

Of those Russia is probably the best for security and ease of living, and for starting a business with its low crime rates and low taxes. Southern Ukraine has better weather unless going someplace like Sochi/Adler. South America has a very wide range of culture and stability by region so it is too hard to give a blanket rule of thumb. Ukraine is a bargain right now and it can only improve since it has been depressed so long and had 5 years of real instability and growing poverty. A small business in Ukraine is subject to more levels of corruption tapping it than a larger company that has some juice. A lot of low-level scams would make things hard for a small neighborhood business, whereas a larger company would not be bothered by low-level scam but would have protection through political and monetary clout. If you are a trader and keep trading accounts in another country, that is safest so there is no outward appearance of having money and a target on your back. A currency or securities trading operation from home using a VPN would be invisible to those who are searching for hacking. A friend who is a pro sports gambler stays 3-6 months in each country and works entirely on-line, does very well but learned the hard way not to flash money. Being discreet is the key, no lavish visible spending. In the 90s I was doing day trading in Kiev and Sebastopol and all trades were closed with seconds so ending the day was simple, and remote, nothing to hack into. My work was late at night since the markets closed back then as 5pm EST. I only traded the first 10 minutes and the last 5 minutes. Internet connections were the only problems I had, no ISDN or T-1 lines available, only dialup. But now, fiber optic is available in most Eastern European countries far cheaper than Europe of the US. I pay $5/month for unmetered 330mb/sec fiber optic to my apartment in St Petersburg. Data is easier and cheaper, plus free wi-fi everywhere including in the beautiful and fast metro(subway) 300 feet below ground, or on buses, every cafe or pub etc.

@spinning nonsense $2000 month would allow a really nice secure low-stress life in Russia, even in large highly cultured cities like S Petersburg where there is so much to do. It depends on one's life requirements. Living in a small town would mean working hard to spend that much. A very active social and cultural life in St Petersburg would be about $1500 a month if one wanted fine dining 4-5 times a week and a few times aweek attending the world-class ballet, theater or opera. Moscow is higher but the reginal capitals are lower. The crime levels, poverty, homeless and corruption are much lower in Russia, hundreds of thousands of Americans are living here for the high quality of life and personal freedom that is not easy to fine many other places.

It is relatively safe but there are roaming nazi militias that are very violent and well-armed. They have killed about 13,000 in the last 4.5 years. It is very easy to get military-style weapons, even in shopping centers that offer full belt-driven machine guns. The main threat to foreigners is money scams if there is any hint that you have money. Unfortunately, it is a very corrupt country(this most corrupt of Europe) where any official is likely to be earning their income from illegal actions because legal incomes are so low. Overall, the people, however, suffer from the same and despite that, remain honest and friendly. I find the east and south to be the safest and least risky. The city center of Kiev is pretty safe but with the higher cost of living there are a lot of really poor who have turned to crime for survival. There is less chance of being murdered in Ukraine than UK or US but armed robberies and muggings are common.

Why would SS payments not be transferable to Ukraine? Many do it. If you do not want to transfer the funds automatically to a local Ukraine bank, use the debit card route the SS Administration is recommending. That way you can withdraw your payments as you need them without transferring to a Ukraine bank. You have to be drawing the benefits for a number of months before you are eligible for the debit card system and it takes a month after applying for the change to receive the first card deposit. There is no charge for that service. Eight million SS US retirees live outside the US because it is almost impossible to live on SS on the ever-increasing cost of living inside the US.

There are many specialists doing just that. Compared to the west, lawyers and accountants are not expensive. Find a good, honest one is the trick. Talk to your friends who are successful in business in the city you are interested in and use their lawyer. A lawyer is not a Juris Doctor like in the west, it is a law specialist with a lot less formal education so their fees are usually very reasonable. But there are wide range of skills and honesty so that is why you need contacts from friends. It is actually a lot simpler than what you would be used to in the west. I started a business in 2000 in Ukraine but I was living in Russia and it was harder back then than now. The last shell company in Russia I created had 3 divisions: tourism, education and electronic repair, and creating a corporation cost me $135 and 3 hours all done myself. That was in 2014 and all three are going well. But in Ukraine, it is still lagging behind in simplification of services so a lawyer is a good investment. But be involved, you will learn a lot about the process.

Residential land was always allowed to be purchased by foreign nationals but a change in laws that allow western agribusiness to buy up all the farmland were put into place so farmland which for most countries have restrictions of foreign ownership were dropped. I had a small house outside a village in South-Eastern Ukraine I bought 20 years ago but it was destroyed by Ukraine militias in 2015. It was on 2 hectares of land filled with an orchard. Not large enough for commercial ag but find as a rural getaway.. Now such village houses are very cheap since 20% of the population left the country, mostly young people who had little interest in rural life. Every day villages disappear as the last old person dies.

That is true about the lack of taste. I had not been to Ukraine after the coup until last year. I was very anxious to taste the great vegetables and apples that it was famous for a hundred years. Last year when I finally returned for a long stay and was very disappointed by the tasteless tomatoes and greens. The only difference as supposed to be GMO now contaminating all gardens but it was really sad. The old days of tomatoes with a bit of acid and rich taste, where sun-warmed vine fresh tomatoes used to be a meal in themselves, were gone. In two months did not find any vegetables any better than factory-farmed Safeway tomatoes. Really disappointing.

  • @stanspb763

    4 жыл бұрын

@@anonym940 Yes that is true but for any crops that are pollinated it is likely they are contaminated and are now GMO. The farmland has largely been bought up by big US agribusiness so adding the GMO seeds has caused the value of the farmland to drop so they bought it for a very depressed price. Ukrainian farmers had no choice in the matter so even if relations with their biggest export partner are normalized(Russia) their farm products can't be sold to Russia. The EU affiliation agreement prevents exports to Europe except for very low quotes. 14% of the harvest of wheat for example but when Russia was buying it, they bought 70%. That EU agreement was horrible for Ukraine and has locked into poverty forever. Ukraine was screwed royally by the west in 2014 and might break up before it ever rebuilds to pre-2014 levels of the economy.
