ReThinking Outreach - Francis Chan

In this video from Exponential West 2014, Francis Chan speaks on rethinking outreach. In order to be effective evangelists today, we have to rethink how we function as a family of believers and challenge our churches to do evangelism as a community through both word and deed. We must be unified as the Church, not seeking our own glory but doing everything for His glory. Francis challenges us to truly seek God and believe in His miracles to raise the dead to eternal life through Christ.
Come to Orlando in March 2023 to learn from more practitioner-pastors like Francis. Find out more and purchase a ticket: exponential.org/orlando-2023/.

We had an elder in our church who was totally blind, BUT he could see through the Holy Spirit. He could tell you what you had on down to the button color. Physically blind but spiritually sighted. God's miracles don't always come the way we think they're supposed to come. We have to be open to how God chooses to display his power and grace and not orchestrate narratives in our heads on how he should go about doing his business.

Amen for dependence on the spirit. I've been wanting to go to the graveyard to raise people from the dead, but I could hardly think of one person who would want to do it with me. I'll keep praying and waiting on the Lord for his timing and provision. In the meantime, I sincerely believe in operating by the spirit when it comes to outreach / evangelism / ministry. I believe in being totally dependent on the Holy Spirit and not on the flesh or resources of man. Great message, and may the body of Christ be dependent on the Lord and walk in the word of God in greater depths. God bless Francais Chan, his walk with the Lord, his family, ministry, community, and others. May the Lord's will be done for all believers and the world! God bless!

I joined a powerful movement of God in the UK in 1984 , after a powerful encounter with Jesus , it went well , until sadly the founder who loved Jesus so much kept tight control on the things which should have become guidelines became rules , & from a community of sacrificial laying down lives, loving Jesus & gathering with great love, it became a machine & many left discouraged. The closer I get to Jesus , the further i get from this worlds order & often the westernised church that goes with it. Jesus was a Jew , life in the middle east in His day was a worlds apart from where we are now in our technological self serving societies. But Jesus has not given up, He is still working, look at this ministry , listen to this guy. & get closer to Jesus. Let's be really radical as Disciples & speak out His name ,l , it's anointed. That was Peter when he first denied Christ and then spoke in front of all Jerusalem during Pentecost. The difference is the awakening of the Holy Spirit in our lives in a way we allow God to speak through us and not hinder what he wants to say. I find that hard to do on a consistent basis; especially if I am concerned about saying the wrong thing I can actually censor the Holy Spirit.

Bible College? I can't say I've really thought this term through in my 50 yrs of life. Because of the practices of the industrialized modern day Christian Church, I would have to assume that institutions such as these would have high influence over many churches and different Christian sects. There would have to be a predetermined agenda or direction of core theology set up for religious educational institution in place before the process. Are these schools taught in a divided manner, with Pentacostal separate from Baptist theology, etc? How many Mammon marks does it cost for someone to go to 'Bible College'?

If we go up the mountain with Moses like Francis Chan wants us to, we would get killed! 18 For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest, 19 And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more: 20 (For they could not endure that which was commanded, And if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart: 21 And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake:)

I love to hear Chan preach and he is very charming and charismatic man. Lord help us to have discernment. Chan is a follower of Piper.....One of the preeminent Calvinist of our time. His belief and Chan’s which is the Calvinist belief 5 points TULIP) Only for the predestined from before time “the elect” go to heaven. The non elect.predestined before time are damned to hell and torment and their is nothing they can do about it. God hates them. And hopefully you are not one of the deceived and not “really” saved because you will be damned to hell no matter how much you pray or beg because God determined from before time you would be damned. As Calvinist use this scripture for proof “Jacob I loved, Esau I hated”. Jesus did not die for the sin of the world so that whosoever believes will have everlasting life. As He said He did. He really meant something else. He only died for “the elect” and the non elect whom God hates from before time be damned. And yes babies being predestined by God to be either “the elect” or “non elect” would go to hell because they were predestined to it. This God does to show His Glory. Brothers and sisters use discernment when opening yourself up to these people. They turn God into something you would not recognize. Let the Holy Spirit move in you and reveal the true love of God. Piper, Chan are great charismatic people. Look deeper. Christ died for all as He said He did. My God IS Love. Go and tell ALL people what Christ has done for them. God says I do not want any to perish. May the love of Christ Jesus be with you and in you

Jesus did not do or say anything that He didn't first hear or see the Father do. The only way we can have the results Jesus had as far as seeing signs and wonders is to have such a close relationship with the Father that our direction from Him is so indelibly imprinted on our hearts and minds that we move through our day completely under His direction knowing what we ask Him for is what He has already shown us He desires to do through us.

That motivates me to pray! But not only for my daughter, other peoples children as well. Most people seem to find it very hard to share their faith. But still God brings people into our paths unexpectedly. Like you. My comments were sort of negative yet very real. You are right. We can all participate in some way. Bless you too.

I love this man heart. For me it just seems, that Mr. Chan don't know how he is in Christ. What i mean is that when he speak how he beg God to do miracle, it does not sound to way son speak to his father. Paul was writing to Romans like this In chapter 8: 12 Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation-but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. 13 For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live. 14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. 15 The Spirit you received does NOT MAKE YOU SLAVES, so that you LIVE IN FEAR again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your ADOPTION to SONSHIP .[f] And by him we cry, “ABBA,[g] FATHER.” 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are GOD’S CHILDREN. 17 Now if we are children, then we are HEIRS-heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

That's funny. John 6:63 is the verse that disproves transubstantiation, which this guy now teaches. Funny but very sad...

Hey he's very very good, but I wish his voice was a bit less whiney...he sounds like he's wanting to bust out crying. Not a criticism per se, just observing and wishing lol.

People seriously think this is a good message? I'm torn on Chan. I thought his book "Crazy Love" was hyberole. Too emotional. Not intellectual. This message if you think it through it really doesn't make as much as sense as you think it does----it takes him 21 minutes to say something I believe a more direct preacher would have said in like 2 minutes.

Buck Robertson hey brother, hope you are good. With your statements it’s be good for people to see Biblical backing. I think people would see a side that others see if we share God’s word. Bless you sir.

Sherry Wilson.... I totally agree with you, I feel that the message can be proclaimed with all power and might and in all reverence because all inspiration of the word comes from God therefore delivered in all Holiness!!! I'm sceptical of these preachers that put on a performance as they speak, maybe to keep their congragation engaged.
