Retaining Wall & Catch Basin Install (2:2)

Here is the second part to the Infiltration Trench install from last season ( • Putting in an Infiltra... ) where we encapsulate the side yard with a retaining wall to bring the grade up, as well as add in the catch basin and trench drains to capture water from the driveway. This took all of our machines to get the job done!

Its a Ziplevel Pro-2000 Altimeter. Uses gas in the line to give you height differentials. A lot quicker and easier to use than a laser in many small projects.

How come you didn't use GEO-GRid every 2 layers? Did you guys take classes somewhere to learn how to install these and the water/catch basin systems?

Is the green house a neighbor or part of the same property? What do they think of this? Seems like their deck stairs are kind of useless now!

Green house is a neighbor. We informed them of the wall and physically showed them how it would be laid out and they understood. More than likely they will have their deck re-arranged, as their stairs led right onto our property anyways.

Absolutely not being critical but I think that I would have tried to integrate their steps into the wall somehow. Again, I'm not being critical but it would have been a nice gesture being as how the wall was under construction anyway. That being said, I was looking forward to another video on the lake house. 👍👍

@@johngersna3263 Why would you even do that? The wall is on the blue house's property completely. Trying to integrate the neighbor's stairs into the wall would have meant having the stairs come across the property line. Secondly, the neighbors built their deck how they wanted. They could have built the stairs somewhere else but they chose that location. Third, there looked like plenty of space to walk between the stairs and the wall. Maybe it makes me an a$$hole but when I do projects, I don't give a damn what my neighbors think. If the neighbors wanted to pay to have the stairs somehow repositioned then fine, but taking them into account when they aren't even on the project property is just stupid.

@@mikel9567 Bud, you might not be an a$$hole but apparently you can't read because you must have replied to the wrong person. I have no idea what you're talking about. Nice to meet you too.

I'm surprised your neighbors didn't claim adverse possession of whatever part of your property they were using. Perhaps they weren't aware of that option.@@CarlsonSonLandscapingLLC

Maybe I missed it before, but is the tilt bucket something new? Can you run the thumb while using the tilt bucket?

Yeah, the power tilt is new. I got it during the winter and showed it in the last house update video. Super useful for doing all types of work. I could only use the thumb if I had a second aux hydraulic plumbed in. But even then its not really worth it since the thumb will be around 1' off of matching the bucket edge.
