I remember when Tracy and Ash uncovered that area, and realizing there was a wall! You've transformed the entire private area into something peaceful and welcoming. There's so much to do elsewhere, it's nice to know the upkeep will be minimal. Great job, everyone. Oh, and it was really something to see how much Jonathan has changed these past couple of years. He's no longer a little boy.

I think the "bird cage" was made for roses to climb on...

It was nice of Carole and Adrian to let you have a piece of their Chateau and fro Rob Giving them the finials for their lamps. The Pagoda, gazebo, pergola might look good a focal point in the center of the formal garden eventually. Great work as usual from all of you.

Agree, right now the pagoda is poorly placed in the middle of a gravel lot. It needs to be surrounded by greenery--spring bulbs and lavender for summer color. It looks odd where it is right now. And please don’t paint it black.

What a lovely gift from Chateau de la ferte, it’s in it’s perfect setting, the whole area is just what you all need for your relaxation time. Rob is such a nice fella with a lovely present for Carol, see you all Wednesday 😊

Thank you! The other gardeners were making fun of me as I was using the straps on my shoulders. They told me this was the year of the "off-the-shoulder" blower! Oh, well.

I was so happy to see Tracey today, slaving away on those cobblestones. I’m glad you guys got the pagoda from Carole and Adrian - it looks like it belongs in your garden and was meant to live there all along. You're so fortunate to have Rob to assist you all. He's an amazing volunteer.🥇 He also seems so easy going too, that's a huge plus. He's been so helpful in restoring the Lalacelle woodwork. It's so awesome that he came back. I'm clearly a fan.👍 Jonathan has really hit a growth spurt! It's most apparent in the footage of him from 2 years ago compared to now. What a wonderful family to have around him. What a nice reuse of Château de la Ferte's "birdcage." A little clean and a lick of paint, and it will look new again.🌿 Is there a vine in its future? I'm anxious for the new chandelier.🤞 ❤ from TX!

Wow, what a transformation! It looks fantastic! I was amused with Patrick doing his due diligence digging away and it seemed to be in just the right spot helping you get ready to place and cement paving stones. Jonathan is no doubt enjoying life and helping you big time. It's so nice to be a part of your life as you bring the beautiful chateau and grounds back to life!

I had forgotten what that area looked like when you first started clearing it, what a transformation. How wonderful of Carole and Adrien to gift you the Pergola, it could not have found a better home . Hoping the weather starts to cooperate a wee bit more and give you a couple of months to enjoy that fabulous BBQ 💗,

It’s all looks so lovely. Next year, apply soil activator to strengthen the lawn and pre emergent to prevent the weeds from going to seed. I tried it for the first time this year. It makes a HUGE DIFFERENCE. I’m in Texas, growing Zone 9. I applied the first treatment end the end of March and the second in May. I have no weds in my lawn and it’s becoming thick again. Additionally I applied Nitrogen fertilizer ( for growth) and will apply phosphate fertilizer in fall ( to strengthen roots) In March and May I also put on an organic fertilizer, made from manure. In May I put on a liquid lawn aerator. After years of struggling my lawn is finally a lawn again. If you can, get a cover for your outdoor kitchen. It helps prevent it from rusting. I hope you had a wonderful BBQ and will create many happy memories.

The gravel with trees around reminds me of visiting parks in upstate new york. The gravel paths would open up to lakes surrounded by trees...glorious. What a relaxing area you have created from sitting in the swinging chair looking out at the landscape, the beach chairs under the trees, the smell of the plants wafting through while sitting with friends. I also love how the area ties everything together and builds a community with the volunteers.

I had forgotten how much work you guys had put into that area. it looks great enjoy your BBQ

Patrick makes me smile each time you start work outside. He just has to be right there. He certainly doesn’t like sharing digging duties.😁

I live watching Patrick keeping an eye on what u all r doing. Like a supervisor. The grill area is awesome, and it makes it nice that everything is in one place. The pagoda is a great addition to the area as well. Having plants growing around the outside looks just right with the small table & chairs. What an addition to ur private area.

Je suis également de l'avis de beaucoup de commentateur : Rob est fantastique et quelqu'un d'une grande efficacité. Tracy est absolument invraisemblable de force, de volonté, de courage et de caractère : c'est une femme tout à fait admirable et remarquable. Je n'oublie pas le charmant couple que forme Terry et Le si souriant et charmant Ash toujours volontaire. En France ce que Terry appelle avec ironie le Byrdcage s'appelle une gloriette. Lorsqu'elle ressemble à un petit abri avec un toit, elle devient tonnelle ou pergola : bien que la pergola ait davantage pour fonction de supporter des plantes grimpantes au-dessus d'un passage ou d'une salle de repos ; mais lorsqu'elle ressemble davantage à une cage à oiseaux donc la fameuse "byrdcage" de Terry, alors elle devient gloriette. C'est un élément de décoration en fer forgé devenue très à la mode au 19ᵉ siècle. Normalement, lorsqu'elle est imposante, elle est garnie de roses grimpantes ; mais lorsqu'elle est comme la vôtre, je crois que la clématite serait plus appropriée car plus léger et plus charmant. From what it was, to where it is today is amazing. The amount of hard work you all put into the area is transformative and low maintenance but giving you a beautiful outdoor space to relax, unwind have a barbecue and to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Xx

When you have time, would you please do a bit of a fly over of your new outside kitchen area? It’s a bit hard to put it together in my mind. Maybe it’s because I’m 74 lol… but I think it would be lovely to see how it fits in with the overall look of the outside area. Absolutely astounding transformation~. Now it has an elegant country chateau feel. Love how to you tied in some comfortable outdoor living themes with low maintenance. I see lots of potted plantings to be dealt with later in the season... and would love to see a little privet hedge curving around the entrance to the outdoor shower bath area for both greenery in that spot and privacy. Love that you've tamed all sides of the chateau now.... though I suppose the other side needs more trimming back and then the gates painted. It's truly outstanding, really.

From one 'just' job to another, you've transformed this once-forgotten area into a lovely, functional and truly inviting family chill-out area. I'm glad you showed how it looked in the beginning. Well done 🙌 ... I love the entire transformation. hugs from Canada (ps- I bet Ash cooked up a delicious feast?)
