Restoring & Repair the original dead and yellowed Nintendo SNES - Vintage Console - ASMR
Find a dead SNES, or did your SNES stop powering on? A Simple $1.50 1.5amp pico fuse could be your culprit!
This week I have decided to fully restore this super yellow super Nintendo entertainment system.
First, I remove 6 security screws from the base to allow me to separate the two halves then once inside I can start to take it apart properly, first, I removed the power switch then the cartridge ejection lever I then removed all the screws from the motherboard and removed it from the lower casing.
A Simple $1.50 1.5amp pico fuse could be your culprit!
What are Pico fuses?
A Pico fuse is an axial leaded subminiature fuse, that is offered in both fast acting, and time lag, versions. Fuse Pico voltage, ratings typically range from 32 volts to 250 volts AC with the most common fuses rated at 125 volts AC. ... The Littelfuse Pico fuse brand names are Pico® and Pico II, ®.
I then washed the plastics in soapy water to remove all grime and grease in preparation for the next step which was to soak them in Cream Peroxide Developer 40 Volume and UV light for several days to remove the years of yellowing that has taken place, This process is also known as retr0brite.
I show you how to remove the yellowing from vintage plastics with the Retr0bright method.
How to Restore a Yellow Super Nintendo the Easy Way
This video will show you how to make your yellowed SNES look almost new again.
Coat the plastic in hydrogen peroxide to fix discoloration. Hydrogen peroxide works well on plastics that have turned entirely yellow instead of in just one spot. Fill a plastic bag with enough hydrogen peroxide to cover the plastic. Stick the plastic in the bag of hydrogen peroxide and lay it out in direct sunlight. Wait 3-4 hours before rinsing it off with clean water.[5]
You can purchase hydrogen peroxide at a drugstore or big box store.
If you’re treating some sort of plastic mechanism, make sure you remove all the parts that aren’t plastic before putting them into the hydrogen peroxide.
You can also use an old toothbrush to scrub the hydrogen peroxide onto the plastic if desired
Thank you for watching my video!

ممتاز اتذكر هذا الجهاز عام 1996 فيديو اكثر من رائع
I have no idea why that fuse seems to blow so often. I've seen people blow it while repairing other parts of it. It seems to be overly sensitive to voltage changes (IIRC it blows when you don't power off before unplugging?) but it also isn't doing its job properly then, clearly... Awesome restoration.

I know this is a random question but what type of profession is this? Is it electronical engineering?
@acumenium8157
Жыл бұрын
@@lyrichasmoxie2586 I would assume so, yeah. A lot of repairs you see on KZread for electronics like this too can be done or even diagnosed by laymen like you and I though with a multimeter though, then the actual replacing of components can get tricky but would require a good (micro)soldering kit.
Buen vidio i gracias

Do you have any tips for people starting out in console restoration? I’ve fixed a couple gameboys so far and I’m absolutely loving the hobby. I wanna delve deeper but I’m not sure where to start!
@theshinyqueen6013

Find a different KZreadr to watch when it comes to this kind of stuff would definitely be my first piece of advice. You want someone who explains things in their videos and actually seems like they know what they’re talking about.
What would you call what you do? Like if I wanted to learn how to repair electronics or game systems like you would I take electronical engineering rn in college?
How long in real time did that take you?
Que mão de obra da gota!
9:44 of all the things the camera decides to focus on, why does it focus on that little capacitor?

17:03 you should never blow into the carts, it puts moisture on the contacts and starts the process of corrosion.

@@RS_N5 if your cart isn’t working try cleaning the contacts with a q tip and isopropyl alcohol. Much better than blowing into it.
