I thank God for CCEF and all that I am learning. I am being counseled there and never knew how much the Scriptures could help me. I can see some change in my life and heart, thanks to the Lord Jesus and the counselor who loves me. At 65 years old, there is still hope for me and I am being healed of much hurt in my life. Praise God for these people and this ministry. Jesus is my hope and I am secure in Him.

I think that I found this sermon back in 2013 or 2014 and I have always returned to it over the years! What an encouragement. 💞

Wow... this really touched my heart... Lord... please raise up ministers who minister in such loving ways... in Jesus'precious Name... Please let us all be blessed with people who seek to know us and love us and bring us closer to You. Help us to see the good in others and help us to better understand their struggles... I ask it in Jesus' precious and holy Name. Thank You, Lord. Amen

20:20 Has to do with a sin - something God says is right or wrong has to do with the heart... the soul. Does Scripture demand or prohibit it...? Yes - has to do with the soul Does it have to do with strength or weakness? Yes - then it's to do with the body... Strengths or weakneses: body

I had lost my wife and three kids in an accident. A week later I was in church just wanting to be left alone but not wanting to be alone...if that makes sense. A congregant that I had been avoiding. .. ANYWAY....The first words out of her mouth as she clung to my arm in order to prevent my escape were, "Oh Brother 'Ethan', Just remember Brother, all things work together for good etc etc etc......" There I was in the sanctuary and all I could think of was how angry I was at God and why did he do this? and how nothing good could ever come of what had happened to my family and how I wanted to beat Sister 'Violet' until she begged for mercy. Over the next couple of weeks, I even had a "Brother" who thought he had a wounding ministry tell me that this happened to my family because I had sin in my life. Please. Unless asked for counsel, just be there, just sit and let people know you are there and keep your platitudes to yourself. The only person that could minister to me at that time was a Brother who had lost his family in a similar way years before that. He was the only person who had a right to say they "Understood". I almost left the church for good after that...that was 25 years ago and I'm still a believer but I rarely go to church. anymore. It opens to many wounds.

They failed you Ethan... but you won't answer to them or anybody else on the day when all is made right. There is only one with whom we have to do- God. We Christ followers are all on a journey. God calls us to give grace to others... even the (perhaps) well-meaning ones who say stupid stuff to people who are reeling from tragedy and asking big questions, or shaking their fist at their maker. Don't throw out the baby with the bath water. The one being followed is the one to listen to, not his broken followers when they say or do unhelpful things.

What a tragedy, Ethan! I can only imagine how painful that must have been to have people that are supposed to come alongside you during this time only cut with their words. Hope you’re hanging in there. Seems like you are. 🙂

So he completely trashes the psychiatric profession, and then presents his own 'brain' theories that are supposed to be 'biblical'. Complete trash.

Did you hear what he said at around 11min? I understood it as giving agreement to the reality of brain disorders. I have never heard anyone at CCEF bash Psychiatric medicine, and I have followed them a lot. Have you read his books on depression? I don't see where he is trashing... What part were you referring to?
