The two of them are really incredibly likeable and I like their idea of preserving cars that cost almost nothing today and that practically no one wants anymore for posterity. Hopefully their business model works. PS: There used to be cars that no one wanted anymore and today they are sought after and expensive. It's good that there were people like these two back then.

Funny how all the workies they visit are just hanging around in the workshop (as usual) but actually get down to doing things straight away instead of sucking in a chestfull of air between their teeth and telling you that they've got too much work, but come back in a week ! LOL. 33:40 - The fat geezer just cracks straight on with getting a glass back window on then and there ..... Tv shows vs reality. Great. And does he REALLY want you to believe that the zips don't match on some cars and he doubles his time (drinking a cup or two of tea) that he makes the client pay for ...... MG weren't fantastic, but there is no way that a zipo would change - they are all made to the same specs. Imagine the nightmare at the factory having to match the right ones up !

I have had the pleasure of using one of these as a donor car years ago, for my VVC metro conversion, what they normally did to do the belts on these, was drop the rear Subframe down. To make life that much easier for access. Only about 6 bolts or some thing holding that in place. Lift the body up and your laughing. But still not the easiest cars to work on though. he said the suspension is simple, to work on. yeah if you have a suspension pump for it. Not many garages have the pump for those now, i would have thought, which will explain why it was just mothballed, when the system failed. Where i live, only about 1 garage i believe still had the suspension pump, i decided to buy my own, for the sake of ease. Fluid i remember been about £15 so its expensive to buy, for what it is. I have heard back in the metro days garages who had the pumps, charging practically peanuts to about a £10. Rover only charged me £30 quid at the time, to do my very 1st metro. I remember one of the lads getting his arse handed to him, when one of the lads he was buying bits off him, charging him £70! to blow the suspension up. i was like you have been done there buddy.

The lads couldn't possibly have bought the worst MGF in the UK because I have that one in my garage! It's become an "I've started so I'll finish" project. In hindsight, it should've been parted out. However, I've spent money on it now, I've made a start restoring it, so I need to see it through.

The MGF and MG TF are great cars, and are an affordable way into modern classic cars. The MG Car Club has an MGF Register which is a very active group, and within that many of the local areas such as the Thames Valley area have monthly meetings, drive outs, and other great activities. At the last MG even at Silverstone, MGFs/TFs were the largest number of MGs there.

It showed (mostly) the types of repairs you and I would do on the road or driveway, it wasn't a pretentious show. And like us, if we couldn't fix it easily, we may decide to bin it off. I've lost track of the amount of cars ,I've done bits of work to, changing exhaust parts or brake pads, just to keep the car going for a few months until the Russian roulette game which is the MOT test. 😮

Did the cambelt on mine by undoing the 2 engine mount bolts and lowering the engine on a jack by an inch. Old belt slips through the gap, new belt slips through the other way, jack engine back up and put the 2 bolts back in then finish fitting the new belt. Disappointed to see the hydragas spheres weren’t refurbished though, not gonna be any nitrogen left in the top of those things after 27 years.

Just had a thought the MGF had sat for 7 years but I don't recall it getting new tyres and no mention of the cam belt tensioner and that is normally changed same time as cam belt and the change time is 6 years OR 60,000 miles. Mine had done only around 3,000 miles but it had been just over 6 years so it was changed and mine got new tyres as well again due to age.

Of course there is no need to remove that alloy support and in fact have just renewed the cam belt, tensioner and water pump on my own MGF without removing it just undo the top engine mount and lower the engine a bit on a jack to slip the belt passed it the lift engine on jack and align the bolts of the mount I though only had main one to do as mine is an MPi not a VVC. Am currently removing the hydragas spheres as they are going to be sent away for re-gassing as the right height has sunk by just over 30mm and just keeping pumping more fluid in does not help the ride quality as of course the fluid does not compress that is the gases job. Also those front wings not being rusted could help save another car.

Not the standard interior (doorpanels, behind the seats, so called t-bar), suits the car really well. This hydragas pump needs to have the vacuum setting, as you need to suck the air out if this kind of work was done on the hydragas system. Not all of them have that option. Having a broken front sphere is quite rare, most of the time it is one of the rear ones. For that kind of money (and in the UK), I would expect all 4 corners to have reconditionned/regassed spheres. Nice car, but for sure not the best one out there.

Never heard of a pre-Chinese MGF having aircon, that is a rare one if original. The MGF is rarer than the MGB, which is the one everyone wants to pay big money for.

Most American States give Driving "TESTS" in a parking lot only during dry weather.I had an International License in Germany for 3 years which was very hard to get.I suspect if Will actually is the worst driver in Europe he is still better than 70% of other drivers over here.

I bought one on these nearly new back in the day. It was with out doubt the worst car Iv ever owned. It was on its 3rd engine from Rover by the time it was 4 years old. The problem was not the K series engine as lotus used the same engine for the Elise with no problems. It was the Rover head gaskets that were made out of cheese
