This barn roof was built alongside the original farmhouse in 1732, which makes it 288 years old. Over the years its clay tiles have been replaced with cement boards, and a leaking corner has rotted away some of the oak frame. It was time for it to be returned to its former glory. This is Part 6 of a 6 Part series documenting the restoration. If you want to follow along, please subscribe!

Probably the best Ryan's Shed Plans on building a shed is hardly found ever . kzread.infoUgkxQpIlQoblai43PcQ4AibWJ5a4AaGfwzpx And Ryan's takes the mystery out of different types of foundation options, etc. He even shows how to build shed with different designs. Very comprehensive, covering different roofing materials, siding, etc.
The craftsmanship is outstanding. A beautiful spiritual barn restored.
SKILLS!!! Not only the renovation (great craftsmanship) but also the way the videos are edited. I am very curious about your next project.
Rarely have I seen so much dedication, not to mention craftsmanship demonstrated by a young man. More power to your elbow, and onwards and upwards to the next phase of the restoration. Great Job.
I made the Chemin de St. Jacques starting from Le Puy. Passing through Aveyron and seeing all these abandoned farm houses like yours made me want to go back and restore them. What a great gift this is. Thanks for being so detailed in your builds and vids.
As a builder myself I just know how much work you have put into that roof...but it's not about the cost every time it's the pure satisfaction you get when you step back & a ire the work ..Priceless 😊😊👍🏻

I have spent nearly 40 years in the building industry but still enjoy watching true craftsmanship and traditional construction. Loved the whole series. You and your Dad should be very proud. Respect.
Das macht ihr echt super. Ich bin absolut beeindruckt von eurer Leistung und Hingabe für die einzelnen Projekte. Greetings from Germany
Great series Carl, a little gutted it's finished, but I'm sure you've got more to follow. Love how much dedication you guys have for the final product.

Wonderful example of true craftsmanship, how you took the time to clean up the ends of the rafters and even chambered them. The results were magnificent, something you should take great pride in. Good for another few hundred years.
I just discovered your channel (thanks Algorithm!) and am working my way through your playlist. What an incredible gift of experience you and your father are giving each other. And as we say in The States, your Dad is an absolute BADASS. You two are a force of nature!
Wow! All parts in a row like a film! It was a huge pleasure to watch you are working with such respect to the old parts and materials!
this type of tile is almost lost art in my country glad to see some still use this kind of method 12:34
Quel travail !!! Le résultat est particulièrement agréable pour le spectateur et très certainement gratifiant pour ceux qui l'ont restauré !!! J'ai beaucoup apprécié cette série de vidéos.
What a labor of love. What artistry. Guessing the shelf life on that new roof is, at least, 500 years.
I'm not a builder nor handy person. I mostly garden. But I loved to see the restoration of such a beautiful barn. Your French farm house is lovely. I would be planning a very large garden if I lived there. Great work to you and your dad. Can't wait to see what you have planned next.
Your thoroughness on this job, and all of your work, has been extremely impressive and inspirational to watch! Thank you for sharing!!!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
This is so bloody great ..... I mean, it's obvious why today's roofing is made with a lot more m2 per hour, but what You did there is the real deal when You do it for joy and looks and longevity. They did it back in the days with what was at hand (clay, lime, sand, round rafters (instead of Your triangular ones) and *_time_* :-) around the house or the area, and with the knowledge of what did work, and what didn't, over time. Your knowledgeable approach to "ancient" technique was a great joy to watch. Thank You for sharing!
What a labour of love. Greetings from Canada
Love watching Carl your a very lucky lad not many have the passion or the justification it's going to be a beautiful place and well worth all the hard graft all that history saved
Congratulations and thank you for documenting this. I especially loved the craftsmanship. Well done!
Молодцы, классная работа, смотрю ваши видео, просто релакс какой-то, отличная работа, так держать, ждём продолжения 👍
I never knew they used to form clay tiles over their legs, makes for a awesome connection with the people who made them. Its like a hand print.

A work of art gentlemen! I hope your neighbours appreciate the pains you have gone to to preserve the traditional.
Watched this all the way through and loved every step on the way. What a fantastic achievement! Good for another few hundred years now 👍🏻👏🏻
A shining series with very capable craftsmen. The whole barn restoration was inspiring, but that roof was not just aesthetically pleasing, but real back breaking work. And what beautiful surroundings to carry out such a superb job.
Loved that series so much.

So do I.
Thanks for posting and sharing. Remarkable achievement. Looks like a senior lady was involved w/moving tiles - kudos to her. Looking fwd to what comes next.
brilliant craftsmanship from the both of you, enjoyed the series can’t wait for the next big project.
Amazing work, hard enough as it is, even harder to film along the way. Thank you for sharing these videos!
safety first series😅...very good job dude... you and your father are simply amazing!
Have really enjoyed the barn project, hope to see more of your work. Thanks for sharing.
Amazing job! What an achievement, really love the attention to detail, like handplaining the edges
Thanks! I appreciate your attention to detail and striving for perfection. It's not just rebuilding a roof, it's art in motion.
That roof is a thing of beauty.
Its honestly astonishing how much work, love and skill goes into this beautiful work of art! Thank you for sharing this with us.

Similar here. I trust there was a reason for PU. Couldn’t it have been done mechanically, or with lime plaster?
Congratulations Carl, to you and your team/family. It came out beautifully, and was fun to follow along.
I don't know the back story on this project but what a tremendous amount of work and so well done!! Think you'd get tired of the roof project I know I would. Love the videos and cheers to dad for keeping up with the youngin's.
I admire the care with detail and I really like the realization with which the videos are produced. I love your channel, and I look forward to the next project. Congrats from Portugal!

Absolutely amazing accomplishment ! Like it big time. Congratulations on the completion of the Ancient Barn Roof. Cheers!!
First time seeing these vids. It's great you do whatever it takes to stick with the original materials and the type of construction. You're truly "restoring" this barn and not just giving it a re-do. I don't think many builders would do that, myself included. Don't know that I could if I wanted to. Lol!
What a cracking job!! Well done guys. Just shows there is still the skill out there.😄👏👏
Absolutely fantastic show of skills. Loved the series. Hope you guys are thrilled with the outcome. Keep up with the great videos
