A sad story to say the least, a #rolex GMT master was sent in due to it being completely flooded with sea water then left to sit for a few months! safe to say a Rolex or any mechanical watch is not something you can just leave out to dry!
Full restoration taking you guys step by step as I turn this non running, rusted basically destroyed Rolex movement back into a fully functional timepiece!

Also a dope - in a negative sense - is whoever took this in the sea water!☹️
After 5 years of watching all types of watches on KZread, this is the first to see the watchmaker actually adjust those little "stars" on the Rolex when a watch has been past the +6,-4 parameters, nice one, great fix .

Hey! Don’t knock your videography skills Peter. I think this was maybe the slickest one yet. I watch a lot of watch restoration channels and I really like that you talk us through it. Not knocking the other channels, but I don’t care for ASMR. Did an amazing job with this. Thanks for sharing and Merry Christmas ✌🏻

Peter, thanks for bailing me out. This is my watch and Tommy was nice enough to get me in touch with you when Rolex would not touch the watch due to the after market part. She's back on my wrist now and keeping time beautifully. This was a college graduation present from my parents in 1994 and was purchased in Davos, Switzerland where my parents have a home. My mom is Swiss. For those reasons this watch means so much to me so Thank You! Btw, I didn't know that cream hands were an option to match the dial. I'd love to do that!
These restoration videos can go up on the algorithm

1:50 - The way the dial face perforated and cracked to look almost like fish scales - would have looked sick if the entire face was like that. It would have been impossible to preserve it and keep it that way. But it would have been “1 in the world” unique. Another dope video! Keep it up! 👍

So usually this is referred to as a “spider dial” the old lacquer cracks but doesn’t fall off the dial plate! Super unique to see in person!
You brought this GMT master back to life, you are very experienced, thank you very much for sharing it with us.

Love the restoration vids! I first started being interested in watches a few years ago watching nico leonard, i liked the passion and comedy. I slowly became interested in actual horology thru deep dives in history and importance of movements. These restoration videos make me want to buy some tools and broken watches to restore them as a hobby! Thank you for the work you do Peter! Genuinely inspirational.
