Restored - Making The Hickory Handle
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In this video, I finish up one of the Ontario Knife Company knives with a reproduction of the original handle scales in Hickory.
The knife steel had all the rust removed prior to now and can be seen in my last video. I used the old handle scales as a template and tried to carefully drill the holes using them. In hindsight I thin kI can do this differently so the holes are straight and more consistent with the knife blade.
Although I almost gave up and started over, I managed to figure out how to use what I made and ended up with a great looking knife handle!

I need to work on my volume and get a mic, but I think you can hear me ok? Let me know if there is anything I can improve on. ☝
Well done dude...love the rounded end & thinner front scale for an easier pinch grip! Looks like a perfect daily-driver to me! 💪😎👍
Came out Fantastic! You should be happy with it! You did a great job on the shaping of those scales. Nothing like a good piece of hickory!

Thank you so much, I'm really happy with it!
When working with knives that have an edge you may want to use some cardboard and masking tape on the edge to avoid injury on your sander and drill.

Good advice! I was probably a little less careful as this blade had been dulled by the thrift shop.
I can't remember why you took off the old handle and put the same one back again. I didn't see that the scales were damaged. It looked like a light sanding would put you in the same spot.

I could tell that there had been water getting under the scales and wanted to get all the rust off. It was way worse than you think under there.
Why add the music?
