Restore MISSING BASS with the AudioControl EPICENTER

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

It's unfortunate, but many times when music hits the studio for final processing the bass information is removed. This is done to make the music sound better on headphones and normal sound systems, but our systems are built to handle bass! How can we get that bass back? The Epicenter can help restore lower frequencies in just about any system. Using the LC2i with an Epicenter is a very popular combo. Also keep in mind that your LC2i isn't completely removing everything below 33hz, it is gently rolling it off, so as not to damage most woofers.

No, the Epicenter won't really help in that scenario. You may need more power on your mids/highs channels, or maybe just a "bass knob" or level controller for your subwoofer amplifier. (If using an AudioControl sub amp, this would be the ACR-1)

You can use the SUB OUT from your head unit, but you will want to make sure you turn the LPF (low pass filter crossover) to it's highest setting or bypass it altogether. If you cannot turn your LPF to at least 250hz, then you should use one of your full range (generally front or rear) outputs instead. Ideally, the Epicenter should have input signal with frequencies up to 1khz for it to work it's best.

All Epicenter bass processors include something we call a PFM, which is essentially like a subsonic filter. This will help to make sure that your subwoofer doesn't play much below it's optimal frequency response, or "unload" by playing below it's tuning frequency in a ported/vented enclosure. This filter's frequency can be changed by swapping the PFM to the desired frequency model. If you'd like more info, feel free to check out this link: www.audiocontrol.com/car-audio/accessories/modules/

The Epicenter is all about preference. For some users, there will be songs that don't need the Epicenter effect. For those songs, you may want to turn the Epicenter all the way down. If that still doesn't do the trick, you may want to consider changing the internal PFM filter to a lower setting. For more info, check out the PFM's here: www.audiocontrol.com/product/Crossover-PFM-Modules/ Also, are you feeding a full range signal into your Epicenter? Or are you crossing over the signal fed into your Epicenter inside your head unit? If so, the Epicenter will not sound right, so please make sure you are feeding a full range signal (or as close to full range as your head unit will allow) to the Epicenter's inputs.

Hi, it would seem that you are one of the few experts on AudioControl's DSP products, and so I was hoping you might be able to help me with a few pre-sale questions? With that said, I'm trying to decide between an Alpine DSP and AudioControls 810 DSP, but I'm not sure about some of the technologies used in the AudioControl to make an informed decision. The first question I have is whether or not the 810 uses parametric EQ? I know the technical sheet says parametric filters, but I'm not sure if this applies to the EQ portion of the processor, or if this means they are using parametric control at some other level of sound processing. The second question I have is with the bluetooth module, as in; does this mean the DSP can input streaming audio from an independent source such as an android phone, as well as controlling the DSP? The third question may be a bit of a twist, but I'm wondering if anyone has controlled the 810 from a headunit, as there are android head-units out there, which could effectively double-down as an advanced audio controller? And finally, do you know what the latency measurements are for the delay control on this particular unit? I believe the Alpine uses 0.05ms intervals and so I was wondering how the AudioControl unit measured-up on this as well. PS. thanks for all of your hard work and video's - your video's have proved to be an incredible source of information for car audio enthusiasts such as myself

Hi JohnBee, I am going to do my best and attempt to answer all of your questions here. If I don't quite get them all, feel free to contact us directly, and our tech team will be happy to help! You can reach us here: www.audiocontrol.com/contact/ 1. The DM-810 uses a graphic EQ for the user interface. 2. The AC-BT24 optional BT module does both BT streaming AND control/setup of the DM-810 (or any option-port enabled AC product, for that matter) 3. If the Android head unit can run standard apps like a tablet would, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work the way you are describing. We have seen many installations where there is an iPad or android tablet flush mounted into the dash, running our DM-SmartDSP software for on-the-fly adjustments/tuning. As an added feature, we also recently released a FREE app for consumers that own any of our DSP products. It's called DM-CTRL, and it allows the user to wirelessly switch between DSP presets, as well as control master volume or subwoofer level, depending on how the DSP is configured. 4. The DSP software allows the user to control the time delay in your choice of measurements. So you can choose between inches, centimeters, or milliseconds as your unit of measurement. If using milliseconds, it is in 0.5ms intervals.

The epicenter has a voltage limiter inside it. It comes set to 5v, but can be set at up to 10v. It will not modify the voltage passing through it, but it can be set to limit the voltage, as a precaution. The 5v default setting is great for the majority of amplifiers out there.

One knob is the desired frequency, let's say for example the center of the dial is 45hz and that's the area you want or notice improvement, the other dial "sweep" is to widen or narrow the frequency range around the 45hz center. Again as an example, narrow around 45hz would make it effective from 35-55. Wider would make the effective range larger. That's my understanding

No. Even with the knob all the way down, the epi is still affecting songs. I have tested this with bass heavy tracks that dont need the epi and when i turn the knob all the way down vs having the epi removed, there is a big difference. The only way to turn the epi off or bypass it for good is to use the in dash epi which has an on off button. Using that button will bypass the epi completely.

The Epicenter can improve the bass of pretty much any system, regardless of what brand/model amps & woofers. The Epicenter essentially enhances the signal 1 octave below whatever the lowest note currently in the song is. So for example, if the track you're playing only has bass down to 60hz, the Epicenter will create bass down into the 30hz range. It's a great effect, try it out and let us know what you think!

This is where the dash mounted control knob comes into play. The ACR-1 control knob (included with the Epicenter) adjusts the Epicenter Effect. So on a song that already has tons of bass (some hip hop or EDM tracks, maybe), you could simply turn the Epicenter all the way down, and forget it is even there. When needed though, ramp up the knob just a few ticks, and you'll instantly hear the difference it makes. Hope that helps!

I am aware the epicenter control isnt a "volume knob", it determines how much of the "miracle of boom" is introduced into the audio being listened to (my dumbes down way of thinking) Ive looked for this to be explained to no avail, thought it was worth a shot to ask here.
