I really like how you restored it without making it look brand new and leaving a feeling of old object.

Zippo didn't start making lighters until 1933.

Correct but because they changed the style a lot of the first few runs in 1933, a lot of collectors refer to this model as the “1932 model” in order to distinguish between the different styles produced in 1933.

Do you have a recipe or a procedure for brass plating yet? I have an old metal stove chimney I would like to brass plate. But, there are simply no tutorials out there that I can find.

Good replica to begin with but you did a really good job restoring it. ZIPPO is a really good brand - have one since teenage years and still lighting:) this one will do for a long time to come as well. And it works! I enjoyed your work and subscribed!

Chromium steel was probably too expensive back then, people were on a budget in 1932. So Zippo used cheap iron and coated it with copper -- even the movable parts.

@@RESTMANIA could you do a video on just the brassing process? I have an old lamp, and a tea cart that I would like to do, but Ineed to see more before gaining confidence enough to try. Also thanks for making this video. It's the first one I've seen that actually shows the real process for brass plating.

Copper plating wears off extremely fast. So the lighter is good only for putting on a display and never touching it. If you intend to use it, then nickel plating is a way to go
