Not a Bowie knife, the Bowie is defined as having a false edge on the tip half of the back of the blade. It's a modern hunting knife blade blank that has been tarnished on purpose, the temper ruined and that heating of the tang will make the handle bend or snap off as soon as it's used.

Anyone else notice that the knife in question has never been sharpened before. It's just a rusty blank not a knife.

And he ruined the temper by getting it sort of hot (NOT the required cherry-red, magnet won't stick to it hot) before quenching, and then hugely overheated the tang to fit the handle which means it will bend or snap where the tang meets the blade as soon as it's used.

Great video but this isn't it big enough to be a Bowie knife is probably more of a hunting knife than a Bowie knife

15-30 cm blades. the shape of the blade makes it a Bowie.

Just being held together by glue and not even a pin? Recipe for disaster there. Doesn’t look like the handle aligns quite right with the bottom wood part of the guard also, another potential failure point.

Some hidden tang knives are "pinless". They have notches for the epoxy to lock into when it hardens rather than pins. Its perfectly fine for some hunting, edc, and kitchen knives etc., something smaller that doesnt take too much shock. I make knives and the little ones that are hidden tang use this construction, but I wouldn't use it for my larger knives. That being said I have made many knives over the past few years of all sizes without pins and they are all still very strong and solidly together to this day. It does do wonders for aesthetics though, theres something real satisfying about a pinless handle.

This was complete BS. Why was the edge so thick on the rusted knife? That blade was just hogged out of some stock and let to rust. Too small to be a Bowie, And to the guy who said size doesn't mater, the shape is that makes it a Bowie...well it's the wrong shape too. Bowie is a Clip point. If it was a Knife restoration why did you heat treat it. All BS to make a video for unknowledgeable people to awe at.
