This is not a Katana but some kids toy. New, I wouldn't pay 1 € for it because it just sucks.

The Tsuba should NOT weight as much as the damn blade. Grinding down to 1/3 of the thickness would have been closer.

I read these comments and am trying to understand your history, pride & disappointment in this sword being treated so. I also thought of your initial Ancestral Katana makers and the years it took to create one blade. The power tools used for the restoration had me realize how long just drilling a hole or any slot opening in metal, hammering the layers of steel that had to be made, etc. Please reply why this isn't correct so you can educate me. Many thanks...

This is The worst bench fitting I have ever witnessed. I am glad to say it is not a dignified Katana blade as a true master would not treat a blade in such a way.

Restoration :- To restore an item back to it's original condition of as close as possible. You failed. The sycophants that say it is a good job are either tooling you or themselves, possibly both. Have you tried knitting ?

Don't worry folks this was not a real Japanese blade. It has a fuller on one side and not on the other so this is definitely not Japanese made.

If you really cared about this blade you would have sent it to a very qualified togishi (sword polisher, traditionally trained for 10 years).

The video serves its purpose, if the sword was a reproduction then certain skills can be obtained on restoring it to an un-rusted repo state. Few people these days can even do that. So take it for what it is. They say anyone can crash a plane but you have to have enough skill to get it into the air, aim it to where it won't harm any people or plants and bail out before it crashes, all that takes a certain level of skill, balls and purpose. Will make a nice wall ornament as long as you say what it is and was.

take too much metal off, the blade will be thin and weak if inner core is exposed....this katana looks to be severely rusted...however, is that rust or a coating that is being removed?
