Restoration Old Caucasian Qama Dagger

Hello folks! Today, I'm restoring the Caucasian Qama dagger. I exchanged it for some of my old things. The dagger has an interesting stamp, I have never seen such a thing before. The dagger does not look like a Georgian dagger one and the more so, it was not possible to find out, if any of you know, please leave a comment. Thank you in advance, but I'm starting the restoration!
Initially, I used a rust remover liquid to begin with, then washed and dried. Sanding of the blade began with sandpaper 120 to 1200. All the dirt and rust was removed at the end with a soft brush and a solvent at low speed. Polishing is not about me, so we move on to the handle.
The handle for the dagger was made of beech (there is no dry buffalo horn physically!!!). But I spoiled the first blank and started the second one. I have already chosen walnut wood. Rivets "nails" for the handle, made of ordinary nuts and an iron pin.
I also started to make a rivet with a beautiful head in the Caucasian style, but it broke (the soldering could not withstand the blows when riveting) and I had to use a brass rivet with a hole in which I placed an aluminum rivet with a smaller diameter and riveted everything together, later applied the decor to the rivet.
The scabbard was made of wood, covered with natural thin leather. The tip was made of a sheet of brass and the tip for the scabbard was made of a brass pin and an iron nut (pre-processed in the same way as for the rivets of the handle).
The suspension was made of steel, it also did not work out the first time, apparently it was not steel, but stainless steel may be. Therefore, in the end, everything turned out fine. I did a final review and a short test of qama dagger. It was very interesting whether the handle would withstand the blows. Everything went well. Thank you for your attention and good luck to you!

Wow from the beginning to end this was a fight to keep get done. Your perseverance paid off. I have no doubt you were frustrated at this one more than once. I wouldn't blame you. It turned out pretty well. Keep up the great work and I enjoyed watching you restore blades. It's not a easy thing but it can be rewarding when you do well. Keep it up and the work shows your skills.

I commend you for your perseverance and deserve the respect that comes from it. If I would have gotten frustrated if I was in your shoes. Enjoy your well deserved relaxation. Cheers for the day. Приветствую! Да в этом я убедился уже точно. Каждый клинок ведет себя по своему. Бебут все покусать хотел и получилось раза 3, этот не разу, но зато противился, мама не горюй. Но в итоге сейчас он успокоился, лежит в ножнах в шкафу.

As always, it's a superb job. That somethings don't work the first time, is well how it goes, but you're the only one that shows the failures. That's just life. Your end results are fantastic. The fact that you show the honesty of the transformation is why you have integrity. You should feel proud of your work, both for the restoration and the video. Алекс, по-доброму завидую Вашему хладнокровию и спокойствию в совокупности с юмором, в моменты, когда создаются неприятные оказии в работе, лично у меня в таких случаях так стоически перенести душевные невзгоды и стенания (особенно, если ещё срывается поездка на пару дней в лес🤣) зачастую не получается - может и воздух содрягаться от матюгальной ненормативной лексики🤣🤣🤣 Но, результат того стоил - Шикарная Работа!!!👍👍👍!!! Интересно, как предки не имея таких инструментов, клеев, припоев делали такие шикарные вещи (кинжалы, ножи, шашки, сабли и т.д.)? Наличие всего этого, не умоляет ваших золотых рук! Я в восторге!

Я всегда этот вопрос себе задаю! Как? А заклепки какие делали, лично у меня парочка из латуни. Ну шедевр, скажи мне повторить сейчас? нуу при наличии фрез и тд будет сложно. Благодарю за внимание

Благодарю за внимание и добрые слова. Позже мне удалось узнать. Дословный перевод гласит: "Работа Малика". А Малик такой и в правду был кузнец, работал в Тифлисе в 19 веке
Завораживающий процесс реставрации! Судя по тому что не все получалось сразу видно что кинжал с характером! Жаль что мы не знаем историю этого кинжала и его хозяина который им владел. А так же мастера сделавшего его.

Привет! Мне удалось найти перевод точнее подписчик помог, оно переводится так. " работа Малика" а этот мастер работал в Тифлисе в 19 век, это я узнал уже у своих.

Every now and then, you have a difficult child. They fight you all the way. Every blade has its own personality. Some co-operate, some are difficult, others fight you tooth and nail all the way. This one wanted to be a devils child. But with gentleness, and patience, y’all came to a truce. This one is worth more because it took more to subdue it. Gorgeous piece of wood and metal Sir.

Судя по тому, что дол смещён в сторону с обеих сторон, смею предположить, что это дагестанский кинжал,во всяком случае, северокавказский. Именно на северном Кавказе дол смещён в сторону относительно линии рукояти. Клеймо, само по себе, напоминает вязь, так что, кузнец, скорее всего, был мусульманином, что также относит к северному Кавказу. Работа ваша, как всегда, прекрасна, смотрю с огромным удовольствием!

Шикарная работа! Из ржавого кинжала, получился вполне себе боевой кинжал, да ещё и с ножнами. С, моей точки зрения, петлю (подвес) надо вставлять наоборот, тогда кинжал будет висеть на поясе под наклоном. Ведь кавказские кинжалы, носили строго посредине , а не сбоку как шашку. А, с таким вариантом петли, он будет висеть практически вертикально, а это не совсем удобно....

I've watched you fix numerous blades like this one, and it always different in some way 😮. I tried to find a caucasian blade for my collection. But they are all so expensive, even the small daggers 😢
It was a great restoration and good to see you not give up after all those mistakes, but I'm still confused as to why the brass fitting at the top of the scabbard was on the inside of the leather, don't they usually go on top of the leather?

Greetings! Thanks for attention. This is one of the options when you need to show only the tip (ball) at the end of the scabbard. I also do when brass is on top of leather.
Уважаемый Мастер ты несомненно реконструктор, так как возвращаеш жизнь историческим вещам, спасибо, подсмотрел пару идей по обтяжке ножен и пайке латунных частей, у меня с этим были трудности, но прошу не подходи к точилу с такими рукавами,какждый раз смотреть страшно,так и ждеш,что намотает, пожалуйста береги себя, соблюдай ТБ и творческих успехов!!
