Yes it is, thanks for watching!
I'm glad you showed the bore both before and after! That came out much better than I would have expected. This is one of the best firearm restorations I've seen on KZread! Most end up a pitted mess or much of the original finish destroyed. This is a remarkable job! AND you tested with the correct black power loads, very cool!

Next time try experimenting with boiling the entire rusted arm in distilled water and using fine steel wool to conserve the original finish. Or if you're going to use media blasting maybe an even softer material like walnut husk, since the finish does look more matte after the glass beads.

Thanks for the advice and thanks for watching we appreciate it very much
Smart move on the black powder ammo! Guns this old were never designed for today's smokeless powder, and the chamber pressures could easily rupture the cylinder and injure someone. Great restoration!

First time watching you work. You do fine work. You are like me, meticulous and patient. You used ALL the proper tools in your work. Finally, someone actually fired what they worked on, using the proper and safe ammunition. I have subscribed, which I rarely do. Again, fine work!!

In this case you’re focusing on positive things and I really appreciate you watching and commenting and just so you know we comment to everybody that takes the time to comment on my channel I have Colt model 1903 made in 1915 coming out on the channel Friday or Saturday this week with the test firing and everything.

Sir, one magnificent job of restoring a grand old Colt Model 1895 back to like-new condition. You really made that old Colt a firearm to show-off to interested people. I notice the inspector's initials on the left-side of the frame, indicating some of this old Colt's travels. Thanks so much for this video on your fine work. Hang on to that Colt, it's value will continue to increase, and it would make a wonderful family heirloom to pass down to some lucky family member.

Nice work! Interesting tidbit...this was the type of revolver Teddy Roosevelt carried at San Juan Hill, with the Rough Riders. His was a navy model, salvaged from the wreckage of the USS Maine in Havana, shortly before the beginning of the Spanish-American War.
@TheKinzlerBros
Жыл бұрын
You are correct He actually used it at battle of Las Guasimas and San Juan heights while charging kettle hill with His Roughriders and yes you’re correct it was one that was Salvage from the sunken ship the USS Maine I actually made a TikTok in three minutes of this firearm at the very beginning I talk about Theodore Roosevelt and the history behind this firearm but TikTok doesn’t like me showing historical educational videos of restored firearms so I was taken down immediately and I was banned for three days

Thank you very much Tristan yeah I thought about doing some checkering, but in the end I decided not to, thanks for watching buddy
@sergeantbigmac
Жыл бұрын
Many original factory Colts from this time period did not have checkering. Especially military issued models. I know for a fact the 1917 did not, not sure on this model I would have to research it. Gives it a period 'correct enough' aesthetic though
