New oil is always better than old, used oil.

Exellent job and restoration

You could use a large hose clamp to pressure the rings inwards to install it, snd always make sure to put the three rings in at 90° of each other so that it will seal up better and not burn much oil. If the piston was a clock, the ring gaps should be at 12 o'clock, 4 o'clock and 8 o'clock.

If this video was about a restoration, all the bearings and maybe the spark plug should be replaced, and it would have all new wear parts in it.

When painting a has tank, it should be water based paint as gas will remove the paint if its oil based. Also, high temperature paint should be used on the muffler that cant smoke when the engine is running.
