Restaurant Serves ONLY CANNED Seafood & MUST TRY Seafood Rice Stew in Portugal
Found a restaurant in Lisbon ONLY serves canned seafood. Canned seafood, especially sardines, are very common and part of the culinary culture here.

This is making me miss Lisbon so much; that bifana and arroz marisco both looked AMAZING. 🤤

I swear I almost screamed when I saw the chocolate soufflé!!! 10:47 My mother in law is an amazing cook and makes this exact chocolate soufflé for get togethers, with the crackly shell and runny chocolate middle. 🤤
As soon as I get back to Lisbon, I'm heading straight to that Seafood Rice!!!
Love Portugal was there last year...also been there
Portugal is definitely on my list for 2023
Dang. I gotta go to Portugal now! Thx for sharing. Watching from Ontario Canada 🎉
I love your reviews 👍👍👍👍😘
Canned mackerel cakes were a staple of my childhood. Still love them but the price is crazy now for it.
Great vid!
That porked sandwich looks like my Kryptonite. So simple delicious pork and hot oil.
This spot is at the top of my list when I travel there.
Wow , just wow.
Love your videos, since the start pandemic i don't go to lisbon that often, in the beggining of the video. Was where i lived during my college times. what a nostalgic moment, to start the video for me

Pastei de Belem is a must try for sure. 😋
The Post-Credit eating was a really nice touch. Whatever that was in the wrap looked amazing considering all that I could see was pita and a mountain of well-seasoned meat. These are the sort of videos that made me fall in love with this channel because I can imagine going to each and every one of these places if I were ever able to visit Portugal and I could do so without busting the bank.
This time I came prepared. Had slow cooked baby back ribs and a perfectly dressed up baked potato while watching this and for a change I wasn't jealous of Mikey.
❤️ Sardines!!!🤗 They're definitely one of those 'iykyk' items.. I habitually buy the purple tin from Trader Joe's, (lightly smoked in oil, product of Portugal), and they're identical to the Bela brand which tj's carried prior to the rebranding... I keep them in the fridge and enjoy over a couple of crusty toasty chunks of bread... A great, light snack. ✨️👍

Belas is probably the best "store shelf" brand you can buy. If you have the ability, I highly recommend buying some cans of Nuris spiced sardines either on amazon or in specialty stores. They will blow your mind. A couple bucks more than belas or TJ's, but definitely worth it as a treat :)

Hey Mike.. The canned food actually looks ok. Enjoy this great experience.. ❤️🐞
One of the reasons why it tastes so fresh is because it's barely two hours from the ocean to the can...

@@muzzuplayz as I said two hours from the ocean to the can... The Portuguese can do that because the best fishing grounds are literally right off the coast... The furthest afield these fishing boats is sixty kilometers so they can get the fish back as quickly as possible to preserve the freshness... I will eat canned fish in Portugal long before I'll eat canned fish anywhere else... So don't knock it until you've made the trip to Metropolitan Portugal to try it...

First 👋hallo thanks for the good video
Well then, first, Lisbon, if you are looking for traditional Portuguese food, it is not the best place to find it, but the canned fish, the arroz de marisco (fish rice) and the bifanas were more or else traditional. As for the pastel de Belem like any other good pastel, put a dash of cinnamon powder on your pastry and eat it with a good hot expresso cup (cafe, bica or cimbalinho), that is second breakfast to me. You may also try a good cold beer or a glass of southern Portuguese red wine with the bifanas. The "jamon" thing was not traditional, it is a Spanish Portuguese mutant variant. If your looking for more traditional food, and better, you have to leave Lisbon, that is a tourist trap just like half of the Algarve my friend. But I am glad you are enjoying yourself, Bem vindo.

@@Lucysmom26 Recommend a restaurant? Look, if you like fish and seafood try any city in the coast, me, I would recommend for example Setubal, Sines, Vila Nova de Milfontes in the south, and in the north follow the coast, Figueira da Foz, Aveiro, so many. Inland try the Alentejo region and the highlands of the Beiras, beyond the Porto city and the Douro region the Southern wine regions of the Alentejo are the best ones, like any wines from Borba for example. The best bifanas in the country can be found in a village called Canal Caveira, Grandola, just follow the road from Setubal to Grandola, you will find it by seeing the queues outside the restaurant. This comment isnt long enough to talk about it, just rent a car and make a plan, try the cities like Porto, Braganca in the North, Evora and Beja in the South. The tourist sites are both in Portuguese and English and other languages, and if you can speak English you will get by more or less. Also, the less crowded areas of the Algarve and the "mom and pops" restaurants are still very good. Think Lisbon as a fast food place massifying traditional food, the Portuguese that likes to eat, seldom thinks of Lisbon, the capital is just a needed evil we have to put up with. And when in doubt just eat where the locals do, it as never failed me when travelling. As for traditional foods... They are too many for this comment...

@@Lucysmom26 most restaurants any Portuguese native would recommend would just be attached to some random dudes house where they barely speak English and most likely based in a town where everyone is at minimum, 4th cousins. that being said, Angelo's in Cortical is fucking fire but he closed the restaurant and kept it as a café instead. Like João said, if you really want to experience true Portuguese cuisine, get out of Lisbon, visit random towns like Porto and just go into the different regions and experience the differences in the food and general culture.
Francesinha is so good can't leave the country without it friend
I had Iberica pork/meat and it melted in my mouth!!! The charcuterie platter and Lechon/seafood paella was. Y favorites!!
A year ago, I was in Portugal, and ate at the seafood rice, and egg tart place. They are as good as he says. The pork sandwiches are everywhere, and they are all good. Food was cheap, and it was all way beyond good, particularly the pork. I never knew pork could be so good. In Porto, you must get a Francesinha sandwich. It is the best sandwich I have ever had. It's and open face sandwich drenched in an amazing sauce, with multiple meats. If you have not been to Portugal, go.
That last shop was and still os my favorite place to eat in Lisbon.....and that chocolate cake its made in house... Its brigadeiro de chocolate -chocolate Brigadear Cake. You should've try the pita with their homemade garlic sauce!
Enjoy to your hearts content 😉🙂....

Canned fish and beer were my Achilles heel. I loved them too much and got gout 😅
Portuguese pateis de nata (best can be found in Belem) are different to HK egg tarts and divine; these canned sardines etc. served in Portugal and Spain are from another quality planet, plus bread and good weather you will be in heaven.
