Responding To The Top 10 Negative Comments On My Channel...

The vast majority of comments people leave on my channel are positive... but today I wanted to respond to 10 of the most common negative (or constructively critical) comments I get on a regular basis
Many images and videos in my KZread content have been found online without any attribution or credit available. In many cases I have therefore not been able to add a credit in the videos themselves due to lack of information. If your image or video has been used and a credit is required, please email me with your details and evidence of authorship and a credit will be added into the video description.

I liked your Goldfinger(Ash) video, and your Nowaysis video was one of your favorite. I wouldn't mind ANY band of the same era (ie 90s). This is a list I found of bands who supported Oasis, so any of these: Charlatans, Chemical Bros, Prodigy, Bootleg Beatles, Manic Street Preachers, Ocean Colour Scene, Kula Shaker, Cast, Supergrass, Travis, The Verve, Happy Mondays, Doves, Cornershop, Razorlight, Foo Fighters, Subways, Yeti, The Bees, The Coral, 22-20s, The Redskins, The Stand, Proud Mary, Twisted Wheel, Reverand & The Makers, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Supergrass, The Coral, Mundy, Dreddzone, The Burn (A band from Blackburn that didn't stay around long), The Soundtrack Of Our Lives, Electric Soft Parade, Richard Ashcroft, The Redwalls, Jet, Kasabian, Arctic Monkeys, Spacehog

Keep doing the Oasis stuff please! It's the best fan stuff on youtube. RE point 4. Manics please! I love the manics and they don't get enough general love IMO. There's so much to explore, the imagery, iconoclasm, the lyrics, intelligence, attitude, music, Richey, the triumphs, disasters, the feather boas, the slogans. Everything you could ever want from a band is right there, especially during the 90s.

Please do a contrast between The Holy Bible and Everything Must Go. One is the band’s artistic high point, the other is their commercial peak. My interpretation of the lyrics is that Richey’s lyrics were more introspective or artistically better, and that Nicky Wire focused more on literate commerciality with his wording in Manics songs. Would be interesting to see your interpretation.

I’d love to hear you cover the story of Northside - their very fast rise in the Madchester slipstream and subsequent rapid demise as Factory Records collapsed a year or so later. It’s fantastic to see how many of my mates are forwarding your videos! Yours is definitely my go-to channel for all things Oasis/Britpop and Andrew Dixon is my Beatle go-to channel (for any Beatles fans out there!) Keep up the fantastic work, James. It’s really appreciated. On the subject of other Britpop bands, one of my favourites is Shed 7. My band supported them a couple of times in the early 00’s when Paul Banks temporarily left and Fraser Smith joined on keyboards. Back in the mid-90’s, Oasis were looking for a band to spar with and briefly, Shed 7 were the likely contenders having the most top 10 singles out of any Indie band in 1994. Eventually it ended up being Blur who held the mantle of being Oasis’s nemesis. I think Shed 7 were too self-deprecating to get involved in any of those ego-based shenanigans. I remember drummer Alan Leach being very proud of a Daily Sport headline, referencing their singer Rick, “You can’t get shitter than a shit Rick Witter” 🤣 In a business where people are known to take themselves so seriously, it was refreshing to see these guys could take a joke, send themselves up and retain a normality that so many bands lose after they’ve given up their day job and had a couple of hits.

You should do a vid on Weller. Stanley Road, Wild Wood and Broken Stones are instrumental in the rise of all the bands on this channel. I love the breadth of his songwriting, from 'classic' Weller, to mad semi-improv stuff like Green from the album he did with Simon Dine. Also, because of Brendan Lynch's production, I bet there's a deep dive or two around how songs like Brushed, Peacock Suit and Echoes Round the Sun are essentially 'patchworks' of many takes. I'd love to hear Liam or Noel's stuff produced by him. While I'm thinking about it, Oasis did some really, really cool psychedelic stuff that doesn't get enough of a breakdown - I Can See It Now!, the Amorphous Androgynous' 22-minute (!) version of Shoot A Hole Into The Sun; all of BE by Beady Eye, Setting Sun, Waiting for the Rapture and its reptile-shaking, and their last album in general are very far from the Beatles indeed, and owe a debt to the Sonics, Floyd and the Chemical Brothers. 'Oasis - Secret Psych Pioneers' is not an angle many have gone for, but it's there, mate.

Hi from Poland 🙋. I used to love Oasis (well, myself and our kid) back in the days when they were at the top of their game 1995/96 (toppermost of the poppermost). I was 14-15 yrs old back then. The notion of internet was only just starting. If only we had your channel back then already....At present I still find all your stories about the naughty siblings from 'Machasta' incredibly interesting and have your channel subscribed not to miss out anything. Along with the Supersonic movie released not so long ago, (and also Knebworth 1996 documentary), your knowledge creates a great narration. I feel like discovering Oasis yet again, from the scratch. You are doing a great job there, keep it up, and thank you for doing so, respect bro, 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👌👌👌🍻🍻

Hi James, very interesting video ! I think you're doing a great job, very professional in fact. In terms of other 90s bands, I was surprised but very pleased to see your videos on The Real People (even though they had an Oasis connection that I was unaware of until I heard about it on your channel). Two bands that I would like to see something on are Ride (who happen to have an Oasis connection too) and Dodgy. Keep up the good work, pal ! Cheers Tim

Top ten list of people who have better things to do but somehow aren’t doing them, lol. Love the deep dives - loved The Verve feature - more of that please! Ever thought of doing Blur and The Manics?? Especially the Manics - it’s like they don’t even exist over here (US)!! Sad, sad SAD!!!!

I think it would be interesting to see you do a video on Roll With It vs. Country House and the battle of britpop with Oasis vs. Blur, including Blur on top of the pops and maybe touching on Graham's mental health at the time. Would make an interesting video I think.
