Ah, the version of which i just said "SO autotuned that is should get roasted for it. Horrible and lazy interpretation, "lets smooth over all the edges and make it beige"..". Not taking those back, if it is the same one we are talking about. That is the kind when you are making a product and eventually as you are polishing it, you take all the things away from it that makes the original great. The original has GREAT sense of parody and laughing at yourself, over the top stadium rock anthem with cheesy lyrics. Trying to make it "authentic and intimate"... It is kind of like people thing that "Every Breath You Take" is a love ballad, and then make a cover of it non-ironically. You did not get the song, you used the song, exploited it. Taking away all the edges it became nothing. And you obviously have the talent to do better.
The vintage New Orleans, best by far! They've shown what is 'hidden' in the song, added musical value and made it their own.

This is a very special song to me. It was playing on the radio as I was steaming down the road far too fast having been told my one day old son had been rushed into the SCBU. If you listen to the lyrics imagining new parents looking at - and unable to hold - their one day old child in an incubator hooked up to various medical monitors they take on a very different meaning: ‘I believe in a thing called love, just listen to the rhythm of my heart, there’s a chance we can make it now, we’ll be rocking’ til the sun goes down…’

So much respect for you accepting these covers and giving honest critique, instead of knocking them down. You're amazing!
It's great to see you being so generous. A lot of bands (I'm looking at you Eagles, in particular) would not only refuse to acknowledge these covers, but will actively strive to have them removed and blocked. I really don't see the sense in that. It's not like we are going to buy their version of the song instead of your's, and it keeps your version in people's minds. The Darkness are still current because we haven't forgotten you, and these covers are part of that.

My favourite was vintage New Orleans, it was so different and had so much flair! Loved the sigh and the skat 😆 just brilliant. The wedding one was excruciating...I kept saying why? Why? WHY? whilst it was playing.
You know you have done something right when you get covered by Post Modern Jukebox. Great video Sir.
Apart from yours the original, I loved the New Orleans style version. It also put me in mind of Amy Winehouse for some reason. She’d have covered it brilliantly . ❤

Postmodern Jukebox was definitely my favorite out of this selection, but I would have loved to have seen you react to the version by Scary Pockets!
The New Orleans styled version is the correct choice. Nice Habs sweater. The “see you on the ice” could’ve worked here also.
I'm definitely going to use "nearly" in my everyday now 😂 Postmodern Jukebox was also my favorite. I also love their version of Teenage Dirtbag.

It must be pretty flattering to have people cover your work in different ways. To me, it represents the imprint you've made on this earth. Very tangible. I still smile when I see the videos of The Darkness live and I hear the first notes of that song. It just lifts my spirit.. Your music and your channel have made me smile during some health issues and just given me a reason to feel good whatever day I listen to it. I hope to see you whenever you manage to get to the Boston area again.. Thanks, Justin!👍
Its brilliant that you are so positive about it all. Really shows class. I saw the band a few years back, The personality shines through on stage. Top shelf.
You are amazing Justin, your appreciation of all the styles is really incredible. I'm not a musician, your break down of all of them helps me appreciate them more as well.
You know you have a great song when you can swing it in a few different ways! Postmodern Jukebox was my fav, but Panic at the Disco was awesome, as well. All great efforts!
This was one of those videos where you started to smile right away, and then never stopped 🙂 I'd say number two did the best work in interpreting the song.

POSTMODERN JUKEBOX is amazing!!! I LOVE *LOVE* LOVE their version of "Sweet Child O' Mine" with Miche Braden

Justin, so happy I found you! I think you and The Darkness are AWESOME, can't wait to watch everything! Can we watch everything through first and then break it up with comments from you, I loved the Jazz vibe cover and lots of the others, this song deserves all the Covers!
Post Modern Jukebox, monsieur habitant. Their interpretation makes the song seem to belong to that era. Adorable! The joy you bring! Speaking of Darkness covers, there’s another, acapella, of just verse and chorus of Nobody Can See Me Cry by Alexandria Boddie that soars way above the clouds too!
Pmj are fucking incredible loads of amazing covers and reworks of tunes
I've been listening to the branches cover of your song for years and I got almost emotional watching you listening to it. Well done on creating such an incredible song.
The Vintage New Orleans version is my favorite. It's such an amazing interpretation and she really knocks it out of the park.
Wow! So many interesting interpretations. Confession: I became aware of The Darkness because I was asked to come up with an acoustic version forba wedding. In learning the song I became a fan. I vote for the New Orleans version but all were pretty remarkable. Cheers!
Yeah. It's Post Modern Jukebox for me. Clear winner. I absolutely love it. Definitely the most creative interpretation, although mad props to the guy playing all four in the attic, wearing his wife's clothes while day drinking. Also very cool and fitting that Panic! at the Disco did it. Clearly some mad love and respect there. And the "octave-higher" girl: Wow! The vocal control at the top of her range! She had some real fun with it. Et, Les Habitants!
Such an amazing song, with so many awesome interpretations. And Justin, we love your screeching, don't stop!
Justin, I am so happy I found out one of the musicians I loved so so much as a teen has a YT channel and I get to see him and share his thoughts. Back then, I wanted nothing more than to know what those celeb guys were like, and now you are making my dream come true. The music of The Darkness made me really mad at myself for not being able to sing (as well as you do) but yeah, it's a hardware problem, can't do anything. Anyway, much love and I am so happy that in a world of arrogant people full of themselves, you seem way different and genuine.
I LOVE the 2nd version! She has a beautiful voice & the song is exciting how she sings it😍
Every artist did a great job and are all very talented! Justin, I think you may be on to something here! Although I don't know if every original artist is humble and cool enough to listen to their own covers - you prove once again you are far more than a rock star!
You're so genuine, it's refreshing to watch your videos

I love how in depth you get into this. Feels a LOT different from most "Reacting to my song being covered" videos I've seen.
My first dance song at my wedding was I Believe In a Thing Called Love - Delta Goodrem blended with darkness version. It worked really well as it sounds like a nice slow song to get everyone up and then once they're on their feet it blended into the classic rock version we know and love and everyone had no choice but to stay up and keep dancing haha!
My wife and I sang a duet cover of I Believe in a Thing Called Love to start our wedding. We met at Karaoke, and it seemed a far more appropriate start than the traditional wedding march...
