Respirometer | Spirometer | Breathing Covid-19 Rehab Exercise | Runners | Walkers | Dr. Rajat Chauhan
This simple breathing exercise with Respirometer (Spirometer), available at any chemist for Rs. 500 or lesser, helps to get your lungs to start working more optimally. It is very beneficial in today's Covid-19 / Corona Pandemic era, both who have been lucky to not have been affected by but also for rehabilitation afterward.
Runners, walkers, and other exercise enthusiasts would benefit a lot from it. If you are sedentary, more of a reason to get on with it.

    I’m a Physiotherapist and i would recommend people not to apply as much pressure as he applies, its okay even if you’re able to make one ball go up initially but there shouldn’t be exertion.. Don’t be so hard on yourself as symptoms might worsen if you do not keep perceived exertion in your mind

    Is this good to do for normal kids of 5 yrs old for wheezing probl

  • @DrRajatChauhan

    @DrRajatChauhan

    3 жыл бұрын

    Surbhi (let me not call you she) is partially correct. Not all need to start with that much effort. Just get started. Start slow. Yes, even one ball going up is great. But where Surbhi (physio or not) gets it wrong is that the very basic principle in rehab is 'optimal loading', not 'no loading'. You need to make an effort. Again, one ball is enough to be raised. But gradually keep working harder. That's where adaptation happens, not where you are too comfortable. If it's tiring you, slow down. Next day, try again. As for 'exertion', if there is no exertion, not even one ball will go up. So, such terms like 'perceived exertion' sound all interesting and intelligent, but it is important to know what they mean. Again, another point to note in the video is that the device needs to be raised, it should be at your mouth level. Sit tall. And then do it. Let those lungs have the space to move.

  • @DrRajatChauhan

    @DrRajatChauhan

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@Radhan2024 Yes, it is. Again, as I have explained in the comment above, please slowly start them on it. Fear of breathing because of wheezing makes them develop a habit of taking shallow breaths, stopping them from using their lungs optimally. This exercise will help them to gain confidence to start breathing well again. We doctors don't appreciate the psychological angle of the disease enough. This 'toy' could change this kid's life for good and make her / him get on with life like all other kids around.

Inhale slowly & deep until 3balls touching top and hold for 2-3sec , take out mouthpiece from mouth and release air slowly,repeat 4-5sessionsin a day.

    Hi Ruchita, I suggest you focus on long deep breathing first. Steps: take a long breath in from the nose over 4 seconds, hold it in for 2 seconds and then breathe out over 4-7 seconds. Do it for 60 seconds. Focus on this. Do it pre-breakfast, lunch and dinner.
