Reusable silicone vacuum bags greatly improve the resin infusion process, reducing labor and material costs while improving efficiency.
"Carmira has used LRTM semi-rigid tooling for years to produce its wind blades. On trialing the new silicone bag technologies, we have seen significant savings in tooling costs with no impact on production volume."
-Dr. Peter Schubel, Director of CAMIRA Energy, United Kingdom
Making Re-usable Vacuum Bags Offers Several Advantages;
* Reusable Bags Reduces Labor Costs Up To 90%
* Reusable Bags Can Be Used To Quickly Produce Many Parts
* Cured Silicone Rubber Resists Attack from Chemically Harsh Resins
* Heat Resistance up to 500°F / 260°C
* Non-hazardous; No Odor
* Reusable Bag Eliminates Traditional Bag Film Waste

Glad I watched the whole video. Was thinking what an overly-complicated procedure to make one part, but that was the bag mould for many copies. Pretty cool process.
The resin runner can be ordered direct from Smooth-On or from Reynolds Advanced Materials. We are in the process of adding these ancillaries to our website.
I love how I watch these videos, think it's a great idea for what I'm looking to do, and then spend hours searching their site looking for the stuff. The resin runner they talk about, doesn't even show up when you use the search function on the site. Since someone is paid to sit and upload the video. How about posting a link to each smooth on product used in the video, in the description?
ready made resin runner & ports are sooo convenient; again, well done.
The rigidity or flexibility of the part is based on the resin used. In this case, a high-impact resistant resin was used.
@DILUSI You can order that profile from Smooth-On directly.
Interesting video! Can you share the layout of the wind turbine mould you design for this experiment?
it's detail and easy to understand,thank u
this is amazing !
omg, this is so easy and fast to do!
All of our datasheets are available on our website.
Hi, do you have this product available for sale in Sao Paulo, Brazil?
Obrigado pelo projeto , vou Faser a minha Elice numa forma de areia , valeu
Por favor en español, mil gracias, el tema es demasiado importante para mi.
Ou puis-je suivre un cours por connaître ces techniques?
I need some nice wind turbine blades that long. were can I buy and how much per blade. I need 3 of them.
very informative but you should put full manufacturing process of blade of wind turbine
Are there any data sheets for the products being used?
Nice!
could you tell us what that flexible seal profile is . i cant find it anywere
I'm interest it But, can be use with canopy or not
very nice ill take the trip smooth-on is not even an hour from me.
Wow, this is amazing. How does the silicon cover last; time or number of uses? Thanks :)
Is that Rob Ewings in the black shirt 🙂
It's like something will backed in a two die's closed to each other.
how come there is no need for infusionmesh, and breeder on top of the fiberglass? when you do normal resin infusion with a vacuumbag you should use it to have a good resin-/airflow... but the silicone has the same effect as the vacuumbag... or am I missing something? :)
Oi bom dia conto custar três elece desa
Oi boa tarde três pás desa canto custa
Around $200 usd a gallon...
在台灣有你們的代理商嗎。 Is there your agent in Taiwan?
I just want to pay someone to make one of these bags for me. I have a female mold 1mx32cmx20cm. Nothing difficult, no complex curves. Im in So Cal.

so funny man ur awesome. lololol
Well, that is not correct at all. The stiffness and strenght is purely dependant on type, tickness of laminate and fiber orientation of the fiber material and almost nothing on the resin. But I like your product and would like to see you make some more structural pieces with a thicker layup. I find it very hard to believe that they build windturbine blades with one layer of CSM glass....How do you prevent the resin short circuiting when the vacuum hose completely surrounds the part?

We use almost 200 layers of different types of fiber glass plus otjer material for a 65 meters long and 13 centimetres thick blade
Why bother with the infusion process in this case? Obviously if matt is being used then light weight is not a requirement. Why not just do a wet layup?

Hi Scott, thanks for watching. This article outlines some reasons for resin infusion - www.materialstoday.com/composite-applications/features/why-vacuum-infusion-benefits-your-quality-budget/

Probably used matt just for the vid. Likely use other materials for actual part. Just a guess.
